Happy Halloween!

 Happy Halloween!

It's the last day of October so we all know what that means ... All Hallows Eve or Halloween!  This is the night when all the witches, and goblins come out to play.

stamps & supplies used:  Art Foamies skeleton, TH stencils/dies

I started out making these into 5" x 7" cards but decided to just keep them as big postcards.  There is what I call collage stamping on these two postcards.  Collage stamping is basically stamping over other images or adding a stencil with a lighter color.  You can see more collage stamping in this post with links to other posts.  I used a lot of my Catherine Pooler inks, which if you follow my blog, you know they are my favorite ink pads.

stamps/supplies used:  Art Foamies skeleton, TH stamps, MFP sayings

The company Art Foamies is a small family owned business that makes big foam style stamps.  The owner, Kae Pea is a lovely person who I met in person when I was working at GASS (stamp store that closed there doors years ago) when she taught there in person.  Back then she was with Rubber Moon stamps.

Card swap cards

 Card swap cards

I am behind in showing my local card swap cards so here are a couple of them from a couple of months past.

The fruit card is what I call collage stamping, or some call it random stamping.  I used old wood mounted stamps, so the companies are out of business now.  It's good to go old school once in a while just to remember how I started in stamping.

stamps used:  various stamp companies

The cupcake card was done with a sketch design...I know I'm not one to use sketches, but sometimes you just have to go out of your comfort zone.  Sketches are way out of my comfort zone.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

New beginnings with Moths

 New beginnings with Moths

This is another technique where you can get four cards from one stamping.

stamps used:  GinaKdesigns New beginnings stamps/dies by Lisa Hetrick, Unity stamp co. rectangle die set

I call this technique collage stamping.

Instructions:

1.  Stamp various images on 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.  Just stamp images randomly all over the cardstock.

2.  Cut or die cut 8 1/2" x 11" stamped cardstock into 4 cards.

3.  Layer stamped cards onto black layer, then onto pale orange A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded card) card.

4.  Add thinking of you die cut.

See more on this post from 2009, or on this post.  If you type collage stamping in search bar you will find more.

That's it!

Poppies

Poppies

It is always fun to bring back an old technique, and that is what I did with this card.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up painted poppies stamp set, sayings by MFP stamps

This technique is called random stamping, or what I like to call stamp collage.  See more on this technique in this 2009 post, and in this post.  Type collage stamping in search bar to see more.

basic instructions:

Stamp images randomly on white card with black ink.  Around the poppies stamp splatter images with light blue and yellowish inks.  Die cut stamp card with stitched edge die.  Layer onto mini die cut scallop black card, then onto yellowish color A2 (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") card.  Add some self sticking gems to finish card.

More One sheet wonder cards

 More One sheet wonder cards

I ended up with five completed stamped One sheet wonder cardstocks. This means a total of 20 cards!  So here are the rest of the cards that I didn't show in my post from February 27th.

stamps used:  Gina K designs Happy Life, New Beginnings, Always Delightful, Whimsy and Wonder
I had too much fun with this one sheet wonder technique!  Some of these cards have Perfect Pearl spray to add some shine.   To see step by step photos how I created these cards check out this post.  Back in the day I called this technique collage stamping, but whatever you call it it's fun.  To see more on this technique look here, 2009 collage stamping, more collage stamping here.  You can type collage stamping, or one sheet wonders in the search box to find more that I have done.

Sometimes after the stamped one sheet wonder cardstock was cut up it looked better on horizonal or vertical cards.

Some of the cards I added self sticking gems.  Today and always cards are going to be Anniversary cards, once I stamp the inside later.

Well that's enough of this style card for now.  Hope you like them.

Hello flowers

 Hello flowers

Thought I would use up all the flower die cuts, that I had leftover from other cards.  Just having a play making backgrounds for cards.

stamps/dies/stencils used:  GinaKdesigns Hello stencil kit, Unity stamp co. sending hugs/thinking you dies and rectangle scallop die set

Basically what I did for these cards is glue flower die cuts on 5 1/4" x 4" card.  Randomly all over the card panel, then adhered the panels to card bases. This is an easy and fun background idea.

I've been doing this for years.  Sometimes if I'm feeling more ambitious I will do what I call ... collage stamping.

You can see collage stamping here from 2009, or here from 2016, in this post with a video.  To see even more just type collage stamping is search box in the side bar.

Mixed media masterboards

Mixed media masterboards

This is somewhat of what I would call a throwback ... what I mean is years ago I did what I called stamp collage.  Basically that is where I took an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock and just randomly stamp images all over it.  Next I would cut it up and make cards, postcards or whatever.  You can see here from 2009 and here with a video.

Mixed media masterboards are basically the same idea, just instead of stamping you glue papers of all kinds.  I used collage papers, tissue paper and even old book pages.  After I was done, and it was all dried I cut them into postcards and tags.

Butterfly shakers with video

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

Sometimes it is fun to bring back the old and this is one of those things.   Shaker card! You can see in the picture above the front and inside of the card.  Front of the card is what I call collage stamping but the inside is a fun motion stamping.  Motion stamping is easy, you stamp the image once, then without re-inking just stamp second, and third generation to get the feel of motion!
I learned  this type of card too many years ago to remember, in fact, I think it was one of the first movable style of cards I did learn way back when.  Now it is a lot easier to make with all the dies for cutting out the windows instead of those horrible craft knives .... I cut myself all the time with them.  Plus back then we used to make shakers out of foam core boards which were a pain to cut through.  Now we use cardstock with foam mounting tape or even kids' foam sheets.
Below is a video with tips on how to make a shaker card.

More repeat stamping

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I forgot how much fun it is to repeat stamp or collage stamping ... whatever name you call it ... TRY IT!  it's fun and addicting!
For these cards I upped my game a little by doing subtle resist technique, heat embossing and over stamping.
Check out this post for more repeat stamping and links to videos on repeat stamping I have done in years past.

Heat embossing basic instructions:
1.  stamp image with VersaMark ink pad or a pigment ink pad.
2.  sprinkle with embossing powder.
3.  heat set with a heat gun and you are done!

Subtle resist technique:
1.  stamp image on cardstock with VersaMark ink and allow to dry.  You can speed up the drying process with a heat gun.
2.  when images are dry blend on some color.  I used different brands of dye ink pads with a blending tool.
3.  after your piece is all inked then buff with a soft tissue or towel and you are done!

thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.
Happy Memorial Day.  enjoy and be safe.

Repeat stamping

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

This technique of repeat stamping is easy and fun in years past I called this collage stamping... plus you can make a bunch of backgrounds to cut up and make cards later.  you can see some of my collage stamping here, more collage stamping, post including a video, latest collage stamping postcards.

simplicity card:
1.  masked off section and blended some color.  remove mask or in this case a couple pieces of blue painter's tape to reveal the inked section.  I've done this in years past and called it Faux layers.  you can see here, and faux layers re-visited.
2.  stamp images over the inked faux layer with a darker brown ink.
3.  add baker's twine and Nuvo drops for accents.  layer onto brown layer then white note card.

happy birthday card:
1.  created two different backgrounds then cut up to layer on card.
2.  one background stamped bamboo with dark brown ink first then over stamped with kraft ink.  cut a strip off background for this card.
3.  second background stamped bamboo on an angle with dark brown ink on white card then over stamped with leaf stem in kraft ink.  cut out a small rectangle and layer over bamboo strip.
4.  on the base brown note card I stamped the leaf stem with kraft ink for a tone on tone kinda of effect.

I was in a brown mood ... not sure what that means except that my brown inks happen to be handy when I decided to make these backgrounds.  hope you like them.

pretty posies

stamps used:  Stampin'  Up Bloom By Bloom stamp set

Lots of bright colors with these springy cards.  I got an idea or two from cards I saw on pinterest but as you know, once you start to case a card it turns out a little different.  At least that is how it works with me.  This is one of those photopolymer stamp sets which makes them easy to see thru and layer or just to see where to place them.
Top left card - did some collage stamping which is one of my go to techniques for quick and easy cards.  Here is a tutorial I did back in the day on my blog or here with a video I did a few years ago.  Anyway I think these cards are simple but effective ... how about you?

collage stamped postcards

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I haven't made postcards in a while so I decided to jump in on the Unity mini challenge to make a postcard.  Now, you know I can't just make one so I did several but just showing the front and back in the photo.
I did what I like to call collage stamping over the front of the postcard.  This where you take several stamps ... they don't have to go together ... and you just stamp away all over your card.  Here are some past posts where I did collage stamping -  here is a post with a video and here is a post way back in 2009 or another post here ... here is one more .  You can see more on this technique if you go to my side bar where you can search this blog and type in collage stamping.
thanks for stopping by.  come back soon.  comment and let me know what you think of this technique.

Art Journal Adventure - time

Prompt for this layout is time related.  did a little collage and lots of stamping for this layout.  got out old stamps and even included a tag I created a while ago that fits right into the time theme.  I am enjoying this art journaling with the prompts...you see when I'm left on my own I seem to leave the journals and stick to my comfort zone ... which is cards, postcards and tags.  I'm not one for writing down my feelings and such but doing these art pages is fun.  besides the fact I'm getting out paints supplies that I haven't touched in years so this is a good thing!

Collage stamping by the sea

Today I am showing you my version of collage stamping.  To me it's just a fun way to stamp several images together in a mess then cut them up into fun unique cards.
Please go to Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog for stamp details.
You can watch my video here and on my you tube channel and remember to give it a thumbs up if you like it.  thanks!
