Stencil Art: charming delight

 Stencil Art:  charming delight

This is a stencil set from Altenew stamp co., that is a new monthly subscription.

But after it is out for subscribers (who get it a lesser price) it is offered to all customers.  Here is a close up look at one of the cards I made with this set.
stencils/dies used:  Altenew Stencil Art: charming delight & Masonry wall embossing folder.  Unity stamp co. rectangle & arches die sets, Catherine Pooler inks

I am not a subscriber to Altenew co. Stencil Art sets but I do like them, and buy the ones that appeal to me.  Charming delight has six stencils in the set to create this flower spray.  There is a little learning curve for this set but once you get it down ... it's easy to create this beautiful flower spray.

A Rose is a Rose

 A Rose is a Rose

“Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose” is a sentence/quotation from a poem called “Scared Emily” by Gertrude Stein. Didn't know you were going to learn something today about poetry, did you?

stamp/supplies: Altenew Darling Rose stamp/die set, Unity stamp co. scallop/stitched die set

For this card I die cut the layers with scallop/stitched die set, then added a stamped background(don't remember the name) from my stash. Stamped, blended some color on rose, leaves, then die cut it, and adhered the rose to black die cut oval.  Adhered the rose piece on the background, then added a stamped saying with brads to the card.

Spotlighted Holli

 Spotlighted Holli

Normally when I do spotlight technique I punch out circles, but this time I decided to just cut strips.  I think it is just as dramatic.
See more on spotlight technique here in this post.  If you type in spotlight in the search bar you can see more all the back to 2013.
Basic instructions:
1. Stamp image on 3 3/4" x 5" cream layer with black ink.  Stamp same image on same size layers of red, and pink cardstock.
2.  Cut strips out of stamped red, and pink cardstock layers.
3.  Adhere red and pink strips on stamped cream layer.  Tip: keep strips in order that you cut, so you know where to place them on cream layer. Simple but dramatic ... don't you think?

4.  Adhere finished cream layer to scallop black layer, and then to cream base card.
Tip:  my strips are 1/4" and 1/2".  You can actually do any size strips that look good to you.

 Duoprinting w/chlorophyll cards

I bet you thought I was done with this technique ... not!  Still have several prints so I will slowly make them into cards and more.

stamp/dies used:  Unity stamp co.
Guess I just can't get enough of this technique.  Needed an anniversary card so these prints fit the bill.

Please check out my video here. or you can type duoprinting w/chlorophyll in search bar to see lots more I've done with this technique.

Big Backgrounds

 Big Backgrounds

Sometimes I just like to play with big background images.

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. big background spilled paint, Sakura

For Sakura card, I stamped the spilled paint background on white card with pink ink.  Next I stamped over the spilled paint paint background with the Sakura image with black ink.  Did a little simple watercoloring on the Sakura flower.  Die cut the colored image with Unity stamp co. mini scallop rectangle die set.  Layered all onto a pink A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") note card.

stamps used: Unity stamp co. big background Obsessed with Floral, SU Darling Donkeys

Stamped big background Obsessed with floral onto white card with red ink.  Die cut it out with wonky die set.  Stamped donkey with rose on white card, and colored her in with prisma color pencils. Cut her out with smaller wonky die.  Edged the cards with a little red ink just to make them stand out since all are done on white cards.

Beautiful things change

 Beautiful things change

Unity stamp co. Beautiful things change stamp set, Wonky background

Just a couple of simple cards in this post.

Landscape card:

Stamped the three trees on a piece of white cardstock.  Cut it down to fit the center of an A2 card base.  Added a couple strips of black cardstock, that adhered above, and below the stamped card.  Before adhering the stamped trees to the base card, I stamped the wonky background image on the top and bottom of card.  For the landscape card the wonky stripes go vertical.

Vertical card:

Stamp wonky stripes horizonal on the sides of the card.  Stamp tree on white card, that was die cut with Unity rectangle scallop/stitched dies.  Adhere stamped tree to black card that was die cut with same set of rectangle scallop/stitched dies.  Stamp saying on tree card.  Mount stamped tree card to card with foam mounting tape.

Perched in a tree

Perched in a tree

stamps used: SU Perched in a tree stamp/die set, Unity Greatest Part of Christmas (saying inside) stamp set and rectangle die set
stencil used: Altenew Geometric roulette
Basic instructions:
Made this card in a monotone color style card.  Blended three red inks on white card with stencil, then stamped branch and saying with black ink.  Stamped and die cut bird, then blended with same inks. Foam mounted the bird onto the card, layered onto black card, and red side folding A2 card.  Die cut all the layers with rectangle die set.
stencil used:  Altenew Skylight

Follow basic instructions from first card with exceptions: different stencil, and this is a top folding A2 card.
This is the start of my Christmas cards ... two down and ... who knows how many more?!?!  Not me. I make as many as I like, and send them to family, and friends.
That's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by.  Come back again soon.

Hello flowers

 Hello flowers

Thought I would use up all the flower die cuts, that I had leftover from other cards.  Just having a play making backgrounds for cards.

stamps/dies/stencils used:  GinaKdesigns Hello stencil kit, Unity stamp co. sending hugs/thinking you dies and rectangle scallop die set

Basically what I did for these cards is glue flower die cuts on 5 1/4" x 4" card.  Randomly all over the card panel, then adhered the panels to card bases. This is an easy and fun background idea.

I've been doing this for years.  Sometimes if I'm feeling more ambitious I will do what I call ... collage stamping.

You can see collage stamping here from 2009, or here from 2016, in this post with a video.  To see even more just type collage stamping is search box in the side bar.

Gel plate printings

 Gel plate prints!

This post is going to have lots of photos.

stamps used:  Hot Potatoes --- die: Unity stamp co. Thinking of you

Gel printing is a fun process but can get very messy.

Above is a photo of a print being pulled off the gel plate.

The prints showing are either on 80 lb. cardstock, or Rice paper.  Rice paper is very thin, so when I added to a card I needed to back it onto cardstock.

I die cut some of the prints that I created.

I have lots of prints ... so I will be making lots of cards.  Think I might even add a few of these prints into Treasure books I have created just for fun.

Pop Up Panel card

 Pop Up Panel card

stamps used: Unity stamps/dies

This card is bigger than I usually make, because of the wreath stamp.  It is big and stamped alone on card, yes it would fit on an A2 card, but I wanted to cut it out to make this interactive card.

Measurements:

A6 card - 4 1/2" x 6 1/4" (folded)

Instructions:

Here are my written out instructions.  Of course, I'm probably the only one who can understand them.  Just thought you would get a kick out of seeing my notes on making a card.  I actually saw this card on you tube but she didn't have any written instructions. Don't remember who's video it was, so if anyone knows let me know, and I will give proper credit.  Maybe somewhere online there are perfect written up instructions you could find, but these are mine for now.

Punch Art

 Punch Art

Believe it or not but NOT one stamp got inky for this card!

What is Punch Art? It's craft projects made from paper punches you already have. Everything is made from basic shapes. It's fun and easy and it takes very little time. Takes little time once you decide what you are doing.

Paper Punches used:

tag, scallop circle, various circle punches, mini flower, and SU word window punch.

The background for the card uses a cloud stencil for the sky.  The ground was just color sponged with post it notes used as straight line mask.  The layers were cut out with Unity stamp co. rectangle scallop/stitched dies.

Slimline cards

 Slimline cards

This my May creative crew swap card.  Kept it simple because, to me the whole idea this month was to focus on the slimline card design.

stencil set used:  Unity stamp co. - tulip stamp/layering stencil set

This is an easy layering stencil set to use on a card.  Besides the stencil set I used a sending hugs die, also from the same Unity stamp company.  This company has branched out from rubber stamps to making stencils, and dies lately.

Thanks for stopping by, and please come back soon.

Border gatefold cards

 Border gatefold cards

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

This is a border gatefold card with a twist ... the twist is I used decorative border dies to create a fancy edge on the cards.

Here's a template for measurements and scoring I used for this card.

Instructions:
Score and fold as seen in template diagram.  Keep card folded, and place border die on card.  Run through Big Kick (any die cutting machine will work).  This will cut through the two folded layers, but not the back of the card.  It will leave an impression on the back of the card, but I just added a layer inside the card to hide the impression.
stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I had so much fun making these fun fold cards I couldn't stop.  I saw this idea on Jennifer McGuire's blog ... I just changed up the size of the card a bit.
Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.  comments are welcome.

Bell jar shaker cards

 Bell jar shaker cards

stamps used:  Gina K designs stamps/dies and Unity stamp co. stamps/dies

Shaker cards have been around for years in the stamping world.  I can't remember when I first made one ... but ... I do remember back in the day we used foam core, and kraft knives!  I had a lot of cuts from using kraft knives back then.  Now we use foam mounting tape to form the pocket for the beads and things that shake.  Also now there are lots and lots of dies to use for the openings...so much easier.

Above is a pic of shaker card with foam mounting tape for the pocket to hold all the shaker materials.  Still needs a saying but I will do that before I send it out.

Above is a pic of shaker before the top card with window plastic behind the opening is adhered.  You can see the foam tape forming the pocket to hold all the beads, and sequins that will shaker in the card.  Best tip I can give you is make sure all the foam tape strips are touching ... if there is any little spot that isn't touching the beads and such will spill out when the finished card shakes.  Another tip is remember to adhere window plastic (acetate) behind the front panel with the opening or again everything will shake out.  Ask me how I know ... LOL!
Above is pic of shaker with clear envelope holding all the shaker materials.
I also wanted to show you, that you can use clear envelopes to hold all the beads, and such instead of making a pocket with foam tape.

However you make your shaker cards ... I'm sure they will give lots of pleasure to whoever receives it.

Look here to see vellum shakers, in this old post there is a video just showing the card when shaken, this post has video with tips for shakers, this post shows a shaker I made back in 2009!  You can see more of my shakers by typing shakers in the search bar on my blog.

Woodland Layers Telescoping cards

 Woodland Layers Telescoping cards

This is a Unity stamp set with a stencil.

stamps used: Unity Woodland Layers stamp set and stencil

If I'm not mistaken this technique I used to make these two cards is called telescope cards.  If you go to Splitcoaststampers and type in the search box for telescoping cards ... here's instructions/video for telescoping image card.

Basically, what I did was modernize the technique by using nesting dies, in this case Gina Marie wonky frames.  First I used the stencil to make the mountains then over stamp the mountains with the tree stamp along the bottom of card.  I used my favorite inks from Catherine Pooler.  I stamped the card, then got out my nesting wonky dies and die cut 4 sections.  For the card on the left I adhered the biggest frame to card layer, all the rest of the frames I mounted with mounting tape.  Each one higher than the one before.  For the card on the right, I again die cut card into 4 sections. Only difference this time, I adhered the biggest frame then mounted the third frame, adhered the second with double stick tape and the last layer with mounting tape. The day dream is an stamp on a wood block with no name but any word or saying would work for this card design.

Hope you like these cards and give them a try.

Thanks for visiting and come back again soon.

Happy Anniversary to you

 Happy Anniversary to you

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. I did,I Do, I Will stamp/die, Pop dots

I needed a couple of anniversary cards to send out, for the end of December.  I decided to get out a new big background image, and word die from Unity stamp co.

Of course, I got out my CP inks to make lots of colorful backgrounds on that big image.

The pop dots background image is the perfect size to fit an A2 card ..... the anniversary stamp and die worked great mounted over the top of the background.

Simple card but effective ... don't you think?  I ended up making a bunch of them to have on hand for a local card swap group.
