Card swap cards

 Card swap cards

April theme for my local swap card group was card sketch. Yeah, I'm late as usual lately with posting my swap cards.

stamp/supplies used:  Unity stamp co. Flock talk stamps, SU dsp

I missed our April get together meeting because I was at a weekend crop.

Here is the sketch we used:

I'm not much of a sketch gal but my friends like them so we usually do one or two a year in our group.
Our May meeting was canceled because half our group had other obligations.
stamps/supplies used:  MFP Classic car stamp set, SU ribbon-mesh-Knit embossing folder
May theme was General Masculine cards.
I'll post for June soon.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Card swap cards

 Card swap cards

I am behind in showing my local card swap cards so here are a couple of them from a couple of months past.

The fruit card is what I call collage stamping, or some call it random stamping.  I used old wood mounted stamps, so the companies are out of business now.  It's good to go old school once in a while just to remember how I started in stamping.

stamps used:  various stamp companies

The cupcake card was done with a sketch design...I know I'm not one to use sketches, but sometimes you just have to go out of your comfort zone.  Sketches are way out of my comfort zone.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

Jelly fish

 Jelly fish

stamps used:  Stampin' Up Whale done stamp set
November is a sketch card for my local card swap group.
This is as close as I have ever got to copying a sketch idea.  Sketches are not my thing ... if you follow me here you know that because... I have mentioned it a few times.  😏😐😀

August Creative card crew card

August Creative card crew card

stamps/stencils/dies used: Gina K. Designs kit

This is as stated above my Aug. 2021 sketch card swap card for my local group.  Sketch cards are still out of my comfort zone, but I keep trying.  This sketch was especially difficult for me.
Don't know why but this sketch threw me for a loop.  I finally just turned it horizonal, and hoped for the best.  Not sure I used all the layers correctly ... but ... they say a sketch is just used for a jumping off point!  It is what it is!  On to next months theme which if I remember without looking at my list ... is ... fun fold. NOW that is in my comfort zone and up my alley!!!

Sketches for May

 Sketches for May

stamps used:  Altenew stamp co. and Sunday International

stamps used:  Sunday International and Unity stamp co.
I'm still doing sketches from Pixel's Maven Retreat blog.  Trying to keep up with going out of my box, because my friends know I'm not a fan of sketches.  Also using things that are already die cut from my stash instead of letting them hang around for years.
The top card is a blended background with stripes of foil and a big flower in the corner.
The bottom card have two of the gelato backgrounds I did months ago that have been cut in half diagonal. You can see how to do the gelato background here.  The smaller rectangle is also a blended background that has been die cut.  The saying was stamped onto a scrap piece of white cardstock then cut into a banner.

Still trying out card sketches

 Tulip card sketch

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

Yes, I'm still trying to get comfortable using a card sketch for a starting point to create a card.  This card sketch is from Pixel Maven's Retreat blog challenge.

For my card I pretty much cased the card sketch except I decided to add a little dimension to my card by running it through an embossing folder.  The embossing folder gave it some extra texture.  I used the new Unity stamp co. tulip stamp and stencil for the main focal image.
Hope you like it and give card sketches a try at some time.

Blue flower sketch card

 Blue flower sketch card

                                                         stamps used:  Altenew stamp co.

This is a sketch card I made for Pixel Maven's retreat blog for the month of April.  I know I've said this before but I will say it again (because this is my blog, teeheeehee) I'm not a real fan of sketches but I keep trying.

This card uses Altenew Calming Reverie stamp/die set.  This flower measures approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/4" so that would fit most of an A2 card. If you look at my card, you will see that I cut off some of this flower to mimic the sketch you see below.

I also put my image on the opposite side of the card as the sketch ... we will say that is a "left-handed thing".  I also used an embossed layer instead of pattern paper just to give it another effect.

Creative card crew April sketch

Creative card crew April 2021 sketch card

This month in my local Creative card crew group we are doing a sketch card.

Card sketches are not always the easiest for me to do but I did it.  Although I complained a lot to my fellow swappers. teeheehee

Here is my card:

stamps dies used:  Stampin' Up

The most fun with this sketch is I used SU Hey Birthday Chick stamps and dies.  Those chic,s are just so much fun! To color the birthday chick I did some simple watercolor using the ink from ink pads. I basically followed the sketch as it is shown ... only because I couldn't figure how to switch it up this time around.

Bird sketch #6

 Bird sketch #6

stamps used:  Altenew stamp co.

For this sketch I dug into my container of die cuts .... yes, I have a container of different stamped out dies.  They come in handy when I need a quick card or like in this case ... a sketch card.  Besides having a container of already cut out stamped dies, I also have a small pile of background cards.  If I remember correctly in this background I blended a couple of colors, then adhered some different size double sided tape, so I could press on some gold foil.  Also dug into my stash of self-sticking gems for more sparkle.  Adding this card to Pixel Maven's retreat blog challenge for February.

Thanks for stopping by and please do come back again soon.

Bird sketch #8

 Bird sketch #8

stamps used:  Altenew Birds of a feather stamps/dies and stencil

I'm still trying my hand at sketches in this challenge over at Pixel maven's retreat blog.  Sketch #8 has three circle elements with a stripe behind it.  Nicole from Pixel maven's retreat says to make it your own so, that is what I did by putting the branch on top of the circles, and adding the bird.  This bird is one of Altenew's layering stamp sets that also has dies to cut out the bird.  The background is a stencil from Altenew ..... guess I like that company.  Although in my stash I have lots of stencils from a variety of companies.

Fun with bubble wrap

stamps used:  Altenew stamps/dies

I know you can figure out what I used for the background on these cards from the title.
Bubble wrap!

All you need to do is press/tap ink pad to the bubble wrap then press onto cardstock.  that's it!  easy and fun!
To finish off these cards I went into my little container of already die cut images.  Makes for fast cards.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up stamps/dies

You can see more bubble wrap background cards of mine by typing bubble wrap in search bar over on the side of my blog post.  Here is a post with more bubble wrap cards and also in this post you can see the cards before they are finished.
I used one of the bird cards above for sketch challenge over at Pixel Maven's Retreat

Pine cone sketch card

stamps used:  Catherine Pooler stamps/dies

One more sketch for challenge over at Pixel Maven's Retreat blog ..... this is card sketch #14.  For this card I used an embossing folder for the background instead of just a plain layer or pattern paper.  But again I took artistic license by using dies to kinda make a circle which was one of the options for the sketch.

Pine cones

stamps used:  Catherine Pooler stamps/dies

I'm still trying my hand at card sketches.  This one is for a challenge over at Pixel Maven's Retreat blog ... this is card sketch #15.  I did take some creative license but I feel it still meets with the sketch in general.

Thanks a ton

stamps used:  SU

This month for our local card swap ... it was a sketch design.

I'm not a fan of sketches but I have been trying very hard to do them lately.  They are all over ... in my local card group and online challenges.

For this sketch I changed it up a little.  can you see my changes?

1. I turned the banner on it's side.

2.  moved the layers to the center.

3.  add 3 dots to the left side.

DSP used:  SU

This is a sketch design ... yes, a sketch!  anyone who knows me know that I'm not a fan of sketches BUT I'm trying.  This sketch design come from Pixel Maven's retreat blog by Nicole who does a monthly sketch challenge which I will add these cards to her challenge here.

Card sketch

For the month of July at my local card swap group we are doing a card sketch.  Card sketches are not my favorite but it's good to step out of your comfort zone once in a while.
 stamps and dies used:  SU
card sketch used

As you can see with my card I decided to turn it on a diagonal.  Why? you ask.  Just because I could and when I tried to do it straight across like the actual sketch ..... I just couldn't make it work.  With card sketches and when you CASE a card; you have artist license to change it a bit to fit your idea of what it will be.

collar fold

This is an easy, fun and creative fun fold.  for this particular card I used a one-sided pattern paper only because of the theme of the card otherwise this is a great card to show off double-sided pattern papers. But I just stamped a little image on the folded part and that solved the problem of the one-sided pattern paper.  the theme for these cards is nautical or I'm going to stretch it to include beach so I can promote the design team I'm on which is for JFF stamps and they have a challenge this month for sand in your toes challenge . you can either use the theme or sketch provided for your inspiration so enter for your chance to win a JFF G.C.  Now if you want you can check out my video how I did this fun fold here or on my you tube channel.
measurements:
base card = 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (A2 note card)
collar layer = 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Wishes

I like the way this card came out....it is very feminine and that is what I was going for because of the color scheme with all it's pinks and grey card.  Not sure you can tell but the wish flower in the circle has a spinner behind it so it spins! I tried to take a photo (look to the right) with it spinning.  I even stamped the wish flower in pink on the envelope. Took a little creative license for the sketch and only used a few of the suggested colors but think it fits the qualifications for the challenge.  I'm going to dedicate this card to one of my family members who just found out she has breast cancer.

Shake it up!

Shaker cards have been around for a long time but I think they are still fun!  you just can't help shaking it up!  On this card I did what I call a shaker element for the card because it's not a full shaker card.  Only problem with a shaker card sometimes you just have to get out that old exacto knife and this is one of those times.  not my favorite tool but it is useful for this style shaker....I do like it better when I can use one of my die cuts for the cut out but just didn't work out this time so did it the old fashion way!
