The theme for my local creative card crew this month (June) is Beach.  Beach theme for this month is appropriate because it has been so hot around here all week, although it is not officially summer till June 21st.  Anyway back to my card and what I did to make this card.

basic instructions:

1.  I cut out masks to lay down on my white card layer to create what I call faux layers.  The faux layers make the illusion of sand, water and sky.  

2.  Lay down the mask and blend color ... blue for sky and water...kraft color ink for the sand then remove the mask.

3.  Stamp over the faux layers with the birds, weeds and saying.

4.  Die cut the stamped layer with wonky rectangles die then layer all the layers onto a kraft card base.

5.  Add a few gems to finish off the card.

Name plates

stamps used:  JFF stamp co., Stampin'Up, Unity stamp co., various alphabet sets

My cousin asked if I would make her a name plate for her door at work because she was only allowed an index size plain card.  This is what I came up with for her.

1.  background is inked up bubble wrap.  stamped her name with alphabet set.  butterfly is from JFF stamps.  I colored the butterfly with pastels, sprayed with fixative and Krylon matte spray to seal it.  fussy cut and adhered to 3 x 5 card.

2.  on a white card slightly smaller than 3 x 5 I stamped her name in different colors with an alphabet set that looks like typewriter keys.  stamped SU butterflies on card.  third butterfly ... stamped and punched out and adhered to card.  added wink of Stella to all the butterflies.  layered onto a green 3 x 5 card.

3.  die cut a banner.  stamped butterfly with dark green ink, masked and stippled lighter green color around butterfly.  stamped her name with black ink.

Art journal week #40 Triangles and #41 Halloween

stamp used:  Just For Fun faux post cube

Stamped the triangle side three times to create a fun tree.  drew in a tree trunk, added some color with Pebbles chalks.  Oh, yes also drew a snow hill at the bottom of each of the trees and sponged on some more of the chalks.  easy peasy!

stamped the spider web with grey ink down the page making sure to connect each one.  spiders were stamped with black ink along with "Beware"...Happy Halloween was stamped with grey ink.  The coffin was stamped on brown cardstock then fussy cut ..... stamped the bones hand on white cardstock and fussy cut them, then glued them inside the coffin.  glued the coffin with bones hands on the journal page.  got out a blending tool and added some dark spooky color along the page to finish it off.

for my layout this time I used some circle die cuts I had saved in a baggie on my table.  I figured, why not use what is in front of me so I got out my baggie of die cuts and went to town.  behind the stamped out fussy cut images I first sponged on some acrylic paint, let it dry then, blended some color around the paint.  the paint acts like a resist to the sponged on ink. after that I,  just doodled around the paint.  I taped on the stamped images and next, just wrote out the words and hand cut them.  and of course, being me ..... I'm now 2 weeks behind but will catch up soon.

Week #14 - include strong vertical and horizontal elements

This layout is a mix of stamping and masking to create all the vertical and horizontal lines.  Also used washi tapes to create horizontal lines along with stamps then threw in some stamped sayings just because I could.  did some doodle lines around the horizontal lines just for fun.

Week #13 Home

For this layout I went bright colors...just the mood I was in and what was close at hand.  started off by spraying my pages with dylusions ink sprays so that means the pages get wet and I have to be patient and let them dry!  needless to say I did let them dry but that meant I left it for a couple of days on my table before I went back to finish it.  but before that I decided to stamp a tag and the sayings on separate pieces of cardstock to use on my journal page layout.  oh yeah, I was making a couple of birthday cards in between so that is why all the balloons.  let me know what you think.

 Tags, tags, and more tags for today.  I've gone from making cards and postcards all the time to changing it up with tags instead of postcards.  So today I'm showcasing Fall tags which fit into Just For Fun stamps challenge ... Resist more

 Two more cards showing this fun resist technique.  Basically you blend, sponge or stipple color onto card...I used white cardstock but I'm sure it would work with cream or any light color cardstock.  after you have all the color you want on card ... let it dry.  Next stamp images with VersaMark ink pad and watch the magic happen.  when those images are dry you can over stamp the same images with Colorbox white pigment ink for contrast...after that step I dusted on some Ranger perfect pearls for more pop!  stamp and emboss a saying and you are done.

Faux tearing with video

seahorses

Seahorses look graceful ... don't know if they are or not but they are unique creatures of the sea.  for this card ... no you're not see double there are two cards but both the same ... I did a reverse mask ... sponge in some colors.  you are asking why those colors ... well ... these colors came to me while I was having dental work done.  at the dentist she gives me "shades" to wear so the over head light isn't so bright ... during the procedure my eyes teared a little and when I looked at the light these are the colors I saw ... purple, orange and yellow so I thought why not make a card so I did a couple of days later.  now back to the card, after sponging the colors I did a little stamping with the same color inks inside the circle.  also stamped the seahorse with black ink inside the circle with the mask in place then removed the mask and stamped more seahorses.  stamped the sea kelp ... added a few crystals for bubbles ... layered stamped piece on lavender note card.

Dust away

 I'm still having fun dusting ... with ink that is.  I did the rose and blue card first then decided to do a video and changed up the color scheme a little.  Took out the rose color and add a turquoise blue instead and liked it much better.  After you watch the video (like and give a thumbs of) let me know which is your favorite color scheme.  These are birthday cards but since I already sent out all my summer birthday cards I just might carefully remove the birthday sayings on these cards and make them thinking of you or just a note cards .... we'll see but for now they are birthday cards.  check out the video here in this post or at Sue Wisniewski - YouTube channel.

collar fold

This is an easy, fun and creative fun fold.  for this particular card I used a one-sided pattern paper only because of the theme of the card otherwise this is a great card to show off double-sided pattern papers. But I just stamped a little image on the folded part and that solved the problem of the one-sided pattern paper.  the theme for these cards is nautical or I'm going to stretch it to include beach so I can promote the design team I'm on which is for JFF stamps and they have a challenge this month for sand in your toes challenge . you can either use the theme or sketch provided for your inspiration so enter for your chance to win a JFF G.C.  Now if you want you can check out my video how I did this fun fold here or on my you tube channel.

can you resist the beach?

 Play on words here because I did a resist technique on these two cards.  they look much better in real life.  the same technique except one is just brown ink and the other is three different color inks.  so let's get started with this resist technique:  1.  ink card with whatever color (dye ink pads) or colors you want.  2.  stamp images with VersaMark ink.  allow to dry on it's own or use a heat gun.  3.  over stamp a couple of the images with white pigment ink.  4.  brush on perfect pearls to a couple of the white pigment images.  5.  heat emboss the sentiment and you are done.

Fun fold upside down

This is the Joy Fold card turned around so it opens top to bottom instead of side to side.  went to a card making class with a few friends and we made this card but it surprised me because of the way it was turned topsy turvy.  thank you to our friend Holly for showing me that it's o.k. to change it up a little sometimes.
I made a video with an actual camera, yes, I am finally catching up to the world of digital.  this first video with this camera is a learning thing so please watch it ... give critique ... I have made a couple more videos which I'll post later and I learned we have an editing program where I can add type words onto the video.  You'll understand when I post those videos so without further ado here is video.  Please give a thumbs up if you like it.

JFF August beach challenge

The first of the month is challenge time at JFF blog where the theme is beach.  I stamped a scene with beach birds otherwise known as sandpipers and cattails then I cut it apart just because I could.  Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you the background is just ink pads that I swiped across a white card. this technique is called DTP - direct to paper.

Butterfly kisses

Today is the last day of July but by no means does that mean the summer is over.  Still lots of butterflies flying around in all their glory.  This stamped butterfly is colorful with all the colors of Perfect Pearls.  Stamped butterfly with VersaMark ink onto brown cardstock then dusted it with Perfect Pearls.  After dusting the butterfly I buffed it with a tissue to burnish in all the Perfect Pearls then spritz it with water to settle it in even more.  Add some self sticking pearls to make a flying trail.
