Tic tac toe

 Tic tac toe

It's December, and time for the creative card crew group I belong to; to have our monthly meeting.

stamps/die/stencils used:  Altenew stencil art: nature splashes, Stampin' Up saying

We had to choose a line from a tic tac toe board this time.  I chose on of the diagonal lines:  die cut/punch - matching envelope - sponging. If you take a look I sponged colors using Altenew Stencil Art: Nature Splashes set, which has layering stencils, and I used the leaf dies in the same set for the die cuts.  Look to the left of the picture to see the envelope, which I stenciled plus used one of the die cut leaves.  This was a different theme for us, but it was fun to do.

Booooooooo

 Booooooooo

These Halloween cards are a little different for me ... I say that because of the color scheme.

dies used:  TH Sizzix Fright Night and Gothic Protraits

I had the backgrounds done and laying out on my table, along with a bunch of dies I had die cut ... so ... why not use them together.  And that is how these cards came about.  Also when I stenciled these backgrounds ... guess what ... you guessed it ... those color ink pads were out on my table, so there you have it.  You could say I was being creative or just lazy.  what do you think creative? or lazy?  Either way I like them with all their quirks of color and theme.

Strong Oak

 Strong Oak

I have been enjoying using lots of different stencils on my cards, tags and more.  I started out making these samples for Jen Rzasa #Altenewchallengelive ... Tuesday challenge for Altenew stamp company.  The thing with this challenge you can use any supplies you have on hand ... I just happen to have a good amount of Altenew products.  First up is shades of brown.

supplies used:  Altenew Stencil Art: strong oak stencil set, hello die set

Next up is a card and tag using the shades of purple.

supplies: Altenew Stencil Art: strong oak stencil set, Versatile greetings die set

I couldn't help myself making more and more of these cards using the same strong oak stencil set in different colors.  I kept going with different colors, so why not do green.  For the green and orange cards also used Halftone Hello stamp set plus Hello and Hugs stamp set.

One more set of two cards, and these are shades of orange.
What do you think ... did I use enough different "hello's" and colors to fit into the criterium for this challenge? This strong oak stencil set is going to be a favorite of mine.

Altenew Challenge - Bingo

 Altenew Challenge - Bingo

This week for the Altenew challenge with Jen; we are playing Bingo.  I picked the bingo line:  enamel dots - metallic - stencil - ink blending.  With these challenges there are a lot of creative license, another words I am using sparkle gems instead of enamel dots.

supplies used:  Altenew Stencil Art: nature splashes, metallic cardstock, sparkle metallic gems.  birthday die, and stamped happy (unknown company)

Here's a close up of both the cards ... yes, I did two cards mainly because I needed a couple of birthday cards this week.

This one is done with CP inks in blues, and greens ... I ink blended my favorite colors lately that I use. The sparkle gems on this card are silver ... wish they showed up better in this pic.  The die cut leaves are a beautiful shiny blue metallic.

The pinks, and oranges CP inks, that I ink blended are out of my comfort zone.  I'm not much of a bright color stamper.  The sparkle gems on this card are gold ... but again hard to see in pic.
The die cut leaves in this pink/orange card are a lovely shiny prisma metallic.  I had fun with this challenge.  Look forward to seeing what everyone else does.

B & W with a pop of color

 B & W with a pop of color

Here's a look at my February card with my local card swapping girls.

stamps, stencils, supplies used:  GinaK designs Hello layering stencil bundle

The theme for this month, as you can see from the title, is B & W with a pop of color.  My pop of color was yellow.  I got out a stencil bundle I have had from GinaK designs for a couple of years, that has been a favorite of mine.  I know I say a favorite of mine for this set, but as you know we all have lots of favorites.  For me it depends on the mood I'm in.

For this card I used the stencil to do a bunch of the flowers, and leaves.  I had fun with this theme because I did do b & w but I also added in some gray leaves just because I could.  Only one of the flowers are popped up with foam tape ... all the other flowers, and leaves are taped onto the card.

Here is another one I did with red for the pop of color.  I did this card after I had done all the yellow ones so needless to say the girls got the yellow ones.

Stencil Art: charming delight

 Stencil Art:  charming delight

This is a stencil set from Altenew stamp co., that is a new monthly subscription.

But after it is out for subscribers (who get it a lesser price) it is offered to all customers.  Here is a close up look at one of the cards I made with this set.
stencils/dies used:  Altenew Stencil Art: charming delight & Masonry wall embossing folder.  Unity stamp co. rectangle & arches die sets, Catherine Pooler inks

I am not a subscriber to Altenew co. Stencil Art sets but I do like them, and buy the ones that appeal to me.  Charming delight has six stencils in the set to create this flower spray.  There is a little learning curve for this set but once you get it down ... it's easy to create this beautiful flower spray.

Stencil Art - Nature splashes

 Stencil Art - Nature splashes

stamps/stencils - Altenew Stencil Art - Nature splashes & sayings

I am a fan of stencils of any kind, and this Stencil Art set does not disappoint.

This is a set of 6 layering stencils including the last stencil with words.

stamps, stencils & dies - Altenew Stencil Art set, Unity stamp co. Arches die set

It also has a leaf die set but I didn't use them on these cards, and bookmarks.  I did the basics for all the above cards, and bookmarks this time around.  Just wanted to get the feel of how all the stencils layered together.  I plan on do more using the leaf dies on more cards, and projects.  FYI I used a variety Catherine Pooler inks.

Thank you for stopping by.  Come back soon.

More on Halloween

 More on Halloween

Can't help myself so here are more Halloween cards.

stencils/dies used:  Waffle Flower big moon layering stencil set, TH word dies/stencil

On the Fright card I did the big moon layering stencil first.  The #1 stencil lays down the background color, #2 does layer of moon, #3 adds the last layer for the moon.  The wicked card I blended greens and blue inks.  After blending colors I did the big moon stencil.  Next added bats with Tim Holt stencil, last added the wicked word die.

stamps/dies used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH word die & stencils

Again I blended lots of color with green, blue, and yellow inks. The fright card has two of TH stencils.  Trick or treat uses stamps, and bat stencil.

Did color blending with a couple of blue inks this time.  Added bats, and rib cage with stencils.  I even splashed on some water to make the water spots.  Last mounted boo word.

Tags on Halloween

 Tags on Halloween

stamps/dies used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH dies

When I to change it up I make tags.  For these tags I blended lots of darker color inks for that dreary look.  Stamped over all the dark color with black ink or  Catherine Pooler Rose gold or Platinum ink pads.  They are pigment inks so they take a little longer to dry.  When I made these tags I was at a crop, and didn't have my heat tool ... so I had to set them aside to dry on their own for a few hours.

stamps/stencils used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH word die, TH stencil

No color blending on the above two tags ...just stenciled with TH pumpkins layering stencils.  Then stamped and fussy cut out the ghosts, because they do not have dies.  Gotta love "ghost hug" saying.

Do you like to make tags?

In my last post I asked a question about the purple paper behind the trees on the card.  The answer is purple vellum.  I found some of it in my stash of papers.  You never know what you find till you start moving things around.

These cards are fun!

stamps/supplies used:  Unity stamp co. Doodle bird & Bevy of balloons stencil
Background on the Doodle birds are the balloons layering stencil set.

Doodle-Doo Arched

 Doodle-Doo Arched

Today it's all about the arches, and of course Doodle-Doo bird.

stamps/dies used:  Unity coffee-doodle-doo stamp set, arches nesting dies, Bevy of balloons stamp/dies bundle

I like to make different style cards, and this one fits the bill.  I placed the arch die on a folded card just off the folded edge, then ran it thru my die cutting machine.  And there you are a shaped card.  This is a nesting die set so after I colored the bird I cut her out with smaller arch die.  Mounted her on the front of the shaped card.  The background on the base card was done with the stamp/die/stencil set.  Basically I placed down the first stencil and pounced on some white pigment ink through the balloon stencil.  Repeated the white ink for the second stencil layer.  You need to dry the white pigment ink ... you can either let it dry on it's own for hours, or heat it with a heat tool.  I'm impatient so I do the heat tool.  Next I put the second stencil layer back in place to add more ink to the balloons ... but this time I did a color ink over the dried white ink.  The white ink under the colored ink makes the color pop on the kraft cardstock.

Balloons on the Diagonal

 Balloons on the Diagonal

This card idea is called Diagonal split cards.  No matter the name it's a fun and creative card.

For this particular card I used all stamps, and supplies from Unity stamp company.

basic instructions:

base card: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (folded makes A2 card)

layer: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

color cardstock strips: approx. 1" x 6" need two

I'm not much for measuring so I just put card in trimmer, and cut on a diagonal leaving room at the top, and bottom from the corners. The leftover card from the center is not needed for the assembly of the card.  Keep track of which is the top diagonal piece, and which is the bottom piece.  I used Unity balloon and stamp bundle for this card, so the middle layer is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card, that I did the stamp/stencil on.  As you can see in the photo the diagonal pieces with thin strip of colored card are layered over the stamped stencil card.  That piece is layered on black die cut small scallop card.  I stamped the big sayings from the same bundle.  I stamped a second stenciled card, so I could fussy cut out balloons to pop up on card.  I also colored white bakers twine with ink for balloon strings.

Spectacular Sunflowers!

 Spectacular Sunflowers!

I did some more 4 Corner cards with this layering stencil set.

stamps/supplies used:  GinaKDesigns Little Hello layering stencil bundle(sayings), Spectacular Sunflower layering stencil set

This is a fun technique that makes four cards at a time.  This sunflower stencil set is wonderful, and works great with this technique.

To see details how I do these 4 Corner cards check out this post here with lots of step by step pictures.  I used GinaKdesigns Zinnia stencil for cards in that post.

Winter birthday

 Winter birthday

I do like my layering stencil sets, and this one is perfect for slimline cards.

This layering stencil set is named Christmas tree truck, but I decided to make it a winter birthday card.  I did this by using a birthday saying, that I could do part on the front of the card, then second part inside the card.  In order to do this, I just put a piece of scotch tape on the part of the saying I didn't want to ink up.  Remove the scotch tape, then stamp saying.  Next place scotch tape on second part of saying, that you don't want to ink up before stamping.
When I use this stencil next time I will change up the color of the truck.  Just thought a red truck would be good for a winter card.
Measurements I use for slimline cards.

Get well Forest Pines

 Get well Forest Pines

stamps used:  Altenew stamp co. Pine Forest embossing folder/layering stencils, White Swan Echinacea and MFP get well soon

I told you I would be using this Altenew Pine forest set again.  Remember it here in this post.  This time I used it for get well cards to have on hand in my stash.  If you look close to picture you can also see I used my favorite Unity stamp co. rectangle scallop die set.  I seem to pull this die set out just about every time I make a card, and want a layer.  Anyway, hope you like these cards with the Pine forest, and come back again soon to see what other cards, or projects I create with this embossing/layering stencil set.

Pine Forest

 Pine Forest

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Now onto the Pine Forests!

stamps/supplies used:  Altenew stamp co. Pine Forest embossing folder/stencil set, Catherine Pooler ink pads

I am having so much fun with this embossing folder, and color layering stencil set.  Wish you could see the dimension of the trees from the embossing folder, and then the coloring, that the layering stencils bring to these cards.  For the first card I did a normal green color for the trees, but then I went off the grid with red, purple, and aqua colors.

With those same off the grid colors I did another card on white card.  On the kraft card the colors are a bit muted, but go to the white card, and WOW those colors really pop!

From cards to tags.  With the tags, I just used the layering stencils to use up the ink left on the blending brushes.  You will be seeing more from this embossing folder/stencil set soon.

Layered Dahlia

 Layered Dahlia

I've had this Layered Dahlia stencil for a while, but this is my first attempt at using it.

supplies used: Layered Dahlia stencil by Altenew and saying by Altenew stamp co.

This is a full size stencil ... I mean it fits the front of an A2 card.

I'm using a new scanner so please let me know if the size is acceptable.
I used Catherine Pooler inks for these two cards.  Not sure I like the burgundy and aqua colored one, but I do like the monochromatic blue one.  What do you think?

Patchwork borders

 Patchwork borders

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. Balloons stamp/stencil set
stamps used: Unity stamp co. saying and medallion
This is a fun cut up card technique, or as it has been named (not sure who) Patchwork borders.  With the above cards I used a new layering stencil set from Unity stamp co.

measurements and basic instructions:

base card - 4 1/4" x 11", score at 5 1/2"

color layer (black here) - 4" x 5 1/4"

patchwork strip layers - (2) 1" x 2 3/4" and (2) 1" x 4"

Adhere the patchwork strip layers on color (black) layer.

On the vertical card, the longer patchwork strip layers goes on the sides.  The shorter patchwork strip layers go on the top, and bottom.

With the horizonal card, the patchwork strip layers are reversed.  The longer patchwork strip layers are on the top, and bottom.  The shorter patchwork strip layers go on the sides.

The finished layer is adhered to melon colored A2 card.

Here is another card with the same Patchwork borders using DSP from Stampin' Up .

Balloons

 Balloons

This is has two stamp sets and a layering balloon stencil set.

stamp/stencil set used:  Unity stamp co.

This is a new set for me but I couldn't wait 24 hours before I put ink to it.  First I stamped the big background stamp with black ink, then I used the layering balloon stencil set to color it in. Of course, I used my favorite Catherine Pooler inks.  Used the second stamp set for the sayings.  Also used Unity small scallop rectangles for layers.  Simple cards for me but I like the way they came out.

Mushrooms

 Mushrooms

Just a short post to show a few simple cards I made today. This is a layering stencil set by Altenew stamp company.  I do like their layering stencil sets.  They make for wonderful, simple cards.

For these cards I used fall colors, but I plan on making more cards in different colors.
I Think these mushrooms would be cool in purples, and blues.  That will be coming soon to my blog.
