Angled gatefold cards

 Angled gatefold cards

I do like a good fun fold card, and this is just right.

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. Naturally beautiful stamp set

measurements:

card base:  11" x 5 1/2"  scored at 3 3/8" on both ends.

two front panels: 3 1/8" x 5 1/4"

inside panel:  5 1/4" x 4"

belly band:  11" x 1"

basic instructions:

create angled gatefold (see template)

Mark 1 3/4" from the top of both ends.  Mark the bottom 1" on both sides.  Cut from the 1" mark to the 1 3/4" mark, then from the 1 3/4" mark to the score line on the top on either side.

Mark and cut the front panels, and cut at the same marks.
Create the belly band by wrapping the strip around the card.

Gate fold variation cards

 Gate fold cards

There are lots of variations on gate fold cards, and I will show one here.

overlapping gate fold card not decorated

The above card is ... as you can see not finished.  I will post the finished card when it is done.  I just wanted to show the process of this overlapping gate fold card.

Measurements:

base card: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" - score at 2 3/4" and 7"

inside of the overlapping gate fold card.
layers are determined by the scores.  All of these style cards will be a little different.

stamps/dies used: Stampin' Up Magnolia, Altenew butterflies

The magnolia gate fold card is a bit different, that the flap doesn't overlap, as the first card did.

Measurements:

base card: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" - score at 3" and 7 1/4"

By changing the score lines just a little ... now when the card is closed the sections meet up together.  Play around with the measurements, and see what different gate fold variations you can come up with on your cards.

Thank you for stopping by and come back soon.

Sliding Gate fold cards

 Sliding Gate fold cards

I have made a lot of gate fold cards, but this one is just too much fun!

stamps/dies used:  SU Cup of Tea

stamps used: SU Way to Goat

stamps used:  Unity Harrison Hedgehog stamp set
Measurements:
gate fold card:  5 1/4" x 11"
score at 1 3/4" and 3 1/2", rotate the cardstock 180 degrees and repeat scoring measurements.
cut three strips at 1 3/4" x 4"
cut three strips of pattern paper at 3 3/4" x 1 5/8" (layer over cardstock strips)
layer for inside card:  3 3/4" x 5"
base card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Stamped image for strip that slides in the middle of the three strips can be anything you want.  You just have to remember, when adhering to middle strip that it does not interfere with the sliding of the strip.  See more gate fold cards here from 2011 to 2022 twisted gate fold card.  To see gate fold cards in between those years, please type gate fold in search box in the side bar.

Border gatefold cards

 Border gatefold cards

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

This is a border gatefold card with a twist ... the twist is I used decorative border dies to create a fancy edge on the cards.

Here's a template for measurements and scoring I used for this card.

Instructions:
Score and fold as seen in template diagram.  Keep card folded, and place border die on card.  Run through Big Kick (any die cutting machine will work).  This will cut through the two folded layers, but not the back of the card.  It will leave an impression on the back of the card, but I just added a layer inside the card to hide the impression.
stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I had so much fun making these fun fold cards I couldn't stop.  I saw this idea on Jennifer McGuire's blog ... I just changed up the size of the card a bit.
Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.  comments are welcome.

Twisted gatefold

 Twisted gatefold

stamps used:  GinaKdesigns Always Delightful

This card is a fun fold with a twist on the gate fold card.  This card size does need a handmade envelope because it is an unusual size.  I use my envelope maker to make different size envelopes.

Measurements:

base card: 9" x 6"  - score at 3" and 6"

layers:  (3) light blue 5 1/2" x 2 3/4"

pattern paper: (3) 5 1/4" x 2 1/2"

inside: 5 3/4" x 2 3/4"(color layer)

5 1/2" 2 1/2" (white)

diagram how to fold card

Once you make one of these cards it will be easy peasy.  It's just a matter of going for it, and folding on the score lines in the same directions as you see my diagram.

Thanks for visiting and come back again soon.

Creative card crew fun fold

Creative card crew fun fold

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

This is an overlapping gate fold card with a pop-up inside the card, that I created for my local card group.

basic measurements:

card base - 5 1/2" x 11"  score at 2 1/2"... flip card around and score at 4 1/4".

inside white layer - 5 1/4" x 4"

DSP layers - (2) 5 1/4" x 4", (2) 5 1/4" x 2 1/4"

scraps for other layers.

For the pop-up cut a strip of cardstock approximately 1" x 5 1/4" then score at 1", 2", 4 1/4"

Tape the strip up against the inside fold of the card.  Add tape to the other end of strip, and fold back end with the tape on it. Lay the strip with the tape on it back against itself and carefully place it down on the card.  Close the card to tape it to inside of card.  Open card and pop-up element will be secure in the card.  As you can see in photo the pop-up layer is taped to the back of the front layer and inside the card.  For more you can go to you-tube and search gate fold cards.

Surprise gate fold cards

Surprise gate fold cards!
There are lots of different gate fold cards and yet, here is one more to add to the list of gate fold cards.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up

Start with a regular gate fold card.
measurments:
base card:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2"  folded 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
score at 2 1/8" on both sides of 8 1/2" side.
add DSP to front of cards if desired or use an embossing folder.
stamp and color the goats and die cut into circles.

punch/die out smaller circles, fold in half and adhere to front edge of each side of card.  adhere goats to left side of card and circle with saying to right side of card.  once adhered the circles will act as handles to open the card.  The handles are the surprise of the gate fold card.

this card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire.  I intend to make more of these surprise gate fold cards.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

stamps used:  zetti MFT, train SU
Zetti is white card with embossing folder background and cut out snow drifts.
Train is what I call a faux layer card.  You can see some faux layer cards I made back in 2014 here in this post.  Here is a post that goes back even more ... guess I like doing this technique.
 stamps used:  deer SU
Here with this deer image I did a gate fold card.  Check out this gate fold card here , here what was called a peek-a-boo gate fold card.
stamps used:  caroling-wonderful-cups Unity stamp co.
Cup card has pattern paper for background drop and the cups are fussy cut and mounted on card.
Caroling snowmen and sleigh are triple time stamping cards.  Triple time and double time stamping cards are a favorite of mine, you can see more triple time stamping here.  How about checking out this post with Twisted triple time stamping.   In this post you will see double time stamping.
stamps used:  mr.&mrs.Santa cuddlebug Unity stamp co.
Mr. & Mrs. Santa are adorable cuddlebug stamps which if you know me I like and have a bunch of them.  This style card is a double z-fold card.  In this post you can see z-fold card and more fun folds!
As you can see I like to do lots of designs when I have to make over 30 cards.  Guess that is enough for today.
Merry Christmas! and to all a good night!!!

Double gate peek-a-boo card

Here is a double gate peek-a-boo card

card closed - this is the front of the card.
stamps used: Hot Potato and various other stamp co. that have gone out of business.
When you first open the card you see four panels. Two of the panels have circle cut outs to see the saying inside the card.
Here is the card fully open to see all the panels inside the card.  So far I have only made one of these cards but plan on doing more.  This was sent to a friend for her birthday.  This is one of those cards that is a bit time consuming with all the layers and a little heavy so I put extra postage on it when I sent it.  I saw this card on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts blog.
thank you for stopping by and please come back soon.
