Happy Halloween!

 Happy Halloween!

It's the last day of October so we all know what that means ... All Hallows Eve or Halloween!  This is the night when all the witches, and goblins come out to play.

stamps & supplies used:  Art Foamies skeleton, TH stencils/dies

I started out making these into 5" x 7" cards but decided to just keep them as big postcards.  There is what I call collage stamping on these two postcards.  Collage stamping is basically stamping over other images or adding a stencil with a lighter color.  You can see more collage stamping in this post with links to other posts.  I used a lot of my Catherine Pooler inks, which if you follow my blog, you know they are my favorite ink pads.

stamps/supplies used:  Art Foamies skeleton, TH stamps, MFP sayings

The company Art Foamies is a small family owned business that makes big foam style stamps.  The owner, Kae Pea is a lovely person who I met in person when I was working at GASS (stamp store that closed there doors years ago) when she taught there in person.  Back then she was with Rubber Moon stamps.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Jelly fishes

 Jelly Fishes

I fell in love with Jelly fish a couple of years ago when we visited Mystic Aquarium.

stamps/supplies used: Altenew Jelly fish stamp/die set, SU Big Whale stamp set, Waffle Flower postage die

For postage jelly fish card I used the stencil that fits this die cut to mask off the sections.  Next I stamped the jelly fish, and other images to fit in the masked off sections.  Remove the mask and reveal the fun postage card.

I made this postcard for my friend's birthday.
This postcard is 6" x 4" and goes through the mail beautifully.
I wanted to show all the different colors of the jelly fish.  If you go to a aquarium you will see what I mean.

Check the bright purple jelly fish we saw at the aquarium.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Wolf and Snow moons

 Wolf and Snow Full moons

stamps used:  LIWP, Rubbermoon

Here is my Wolf full moon postcard for my local swap I am participating.  For the background on this postcard I did a northern lights style background.  You see more examples here, here, and here. It can be an addictive background technique and it comes out different every time.

Snow Full moon

stamps used:  various companies
Did a little masking with the Snow full moon.  Basically I stamped the big snowflake with the face, then masked her with a post it note I stamped her on.  Next I blended a few colors of ink then with the mask still in place I stamped some snowflakes only on the center inky band.  Needless to say it is called the snow moon because it snows a lot in February.

Thank you for stopping by.  come back again soon.

Beaver moon

 Beaver Moon
stamp used:  Unity stamp co. beaver cuddlebug

November was the Beaver moon which was named after the beavers, of course, who built their dams at that time of year.  It is fun doing this moon swap with some local friends, although we don't meet in person but send our cards to each other.  We can only hope things in our world improve and then we will be able to meet up in person.  Time will tell.  Back to my beaver card ... I have been doing a postcard each month and on this one I stamped on kraft, then ink blended the background.  The cute beaver, only one in my stash, was colored with Prisma color pencils.  The fun thing about this swap is everyone is doing their own thing ... one person is doing tags for all of her moon swap ... others are doing cards ... some are A2 size cards but a few are 5 x 7.  It's fun to get this swap every month.
***I'm a bit behind in showing my moon swap cards. I will be playing catch up with them***
Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.

collage stamped postcards

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I haven't made postcards in a while so I decided to jump in on the Unity mini challenge to make a postcard.  Now, you know I can't just make one so I did several but just showing the front and back in the photo.
I did what I like to call collage stamping over the front of the postcard.  This where you take several stamps ... they don't have to go together ... and you just stamp away all over your card.  Here are some past posts where I did collage stamping -  here is a post with a video and here is a post way back in 2009 or another post here ... here is one more .  You can see more on this technique if you go to my side bar where you can search this blog and type in collage stamping.
thanks for stopping by.  come back soon.  comment and let me know what you think of this technique.

Last of the leaves

stamps used:  Hot Potatoes, RBBB, Museum of Modern Rubber - unfortunately all these stamp companies are gone with the wind.
These postcards are the last of the leaves from the Duoprinting with chlorophyll technique. The leaves on the beverage postcards are from the Sassafras and the radish postcards are leaves from the radish.
I've had so much fun doing this technique which you can find at Splitcoaststampers - Resources for all the details.  That's not to say I won't do more before the summer is done ... I'm sure I will but for now I'm taking a break from this technique because I have plenty of cards and postcards to send out to friends and family for right now.  But if you would like to see more of my cards/postcards with this technique you can go here or here for another look.

quick watercolor postcards

Today I'm showcasing these fun, quick and easy watercoloring postcards that I did at the crop I was attending earlier this month.  actually did these in between doing the cards I had prepped when I was tired of doing the cards.  to start off the ferris wheel postcard is done on watercolor paper and the other two were done on bristol board.  personally I like the movement more on the bristol board postcards.  basically what I did for these 3 postcards is I wet the papers first with water pen then added color and wet again.  let them dry then stamped images with archival black ink and colored in images with the same zig clean markers.  these pens make a nice water color effect in the background but I think I need to practice some more.

stamps: Unity stamp co. - socks/saying, ferris wheel/saying, girl/saying --- fireworks by LIWP
watercolors: zig clean color markers

Put a bird on it!

Yes, I put three birds on it!  here are two postcards I stamped with Ranger dylusions Put a bird on it stamp set.  guess I'm a little bird crazy lately with either TH crazy birds or now with this new set I bought a couple of weeks ago.  basically I stamped the birds with a waterproof black ink then went to town water coloring with my distress pads that I just smooshed on craft sheet then picked up the color with a waterbrush.

love notes postcards

For the past three weeks I've been doing a postcard swap with a group on facebook called LoveNotes.  the swap is for a period of three weeks (including this week) where the hostess sends out an email with a prompt for the participants to follow.  this is a not a stamping group but you all know me ..... I'm a die heart stamper so my three postcards have been stamped but the others they buy a postcard or computer generate one then write on them using the prompt as a guide.  the first prompt was SMILE...second HAPPINESS...and the third is TODAY.  I will be showing you my postcards and my S-I-L who is also participating in this group. I did some coloring with my prisma pencils, blending color with distress inks and even tried my hand at water coloring on my postcards. my S-I-L may not be a stamper but she is doing a great job/art with these postcards although her postcards are oversized so I need to fold them to fit into my spiral notebook where I am keeping my postcards.  haven't received TODAY postcard, yet from my S-I-L but I'm sure it will be wonderful.

Tea time

Went to a friend's house a few days ago just to play or should say
stamp!  always have fun when stamping with a friend and this was no exception.  we got out tea cup stamps then masked things inside the cup.  If you look to the left you will see Roberta's postcards...like her style of stamping with simple bold images.  Look to the right to see mine ..... a little more silly or out there with what I filled my cups.  Used some Hot Potato stamps and then I just went a little wild with the alligator card!

Playing with masking tape

Went to a friend's house to play...yes, a play date just like we were kids!  we played with masking tape,(ordinary masking tape you can get anywhere...Lowe's, even some grocery stores) acrylic paints, stencils and stamps(Hot Potato stamps! haven't used them in years!  what fun!)...Of course! can't play without stamping!  basically we put the tape down onto our craft sheet, painted a base color over the masking tape and let it dry.  After it is dry you just start stamping with the same old acrylic paints in a random fashion all over the masking tape strips you put on craft sheet.  when all is dry you carefully remove one of the masking strips and tape it to a piece of postcard size cardstock or any cardstock for a base.  you can cut it to size when you are all done.  back to technique.....remove another strip of masking tape but you take every other strip and tape it to cardstock base.  you are making a ..... oh, no!  having a brain freeze...what did my friend call it....ABSTRACT effect....yeah brain is back!  or what I like to call the Picasso look.  after all is tape done you cut to whatever size you want...postcard (4" x 6"), ATC, tags then finished decorating or add some more stamping to bring it all together.  clear as mud, right?  check out the pics then you can get the idea.

Fun with scene stamping

A couple of weeks ago I had a class where we did scene
stamping mostly with Stampscapes stamps.  It was a lot of fun and everyone seem to be enjoying Stampscapes style of scenic stamping.  We started out making postcards but then made them into cards.  Since I showed you some of my cards in a previous post I thought this time I would show off a few of my students.
