Soft Focus

 Soft Focus

This week Jen Rzasa  Altenew #altenewchallengelive theme is Soft Focus.  She explained Soft Focus as pastel colors ... that's not usually my style but sometimes you just need to get out of your comfort zone.

As I mentioned it was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was nice to play with pastel colors for a change.  My pastel colors were mostly a light pink.  I did stay in my comfort zone by making a couple of cards, and a bookmark.

Scrap busters

Scrap busters

This week with Jen Rzasa from Altenew Tuesday #altenewchallengelive  I made tags.  Of course, if you know me if I'm not making cards I'm making tags.

I had fun making these tags with all my scraps ... but if you know me I have lots of scraps.  Basically what I did was put sticky sheet onto the tags, then lay different shaped scraps on the tag.  When I have enough scraps stuck to tag I then sprinkled on embossing powder to the sticky parts left on tag.  Heat set the embossing powder.  The embossing powder is supposed to represent grout in between the scrap pieces.

Pop of color

 Pop of Color

This week for Jen Rzasa #altenewchallengelive theme is Pop of Color.

I had a bit of fun with this challenge because besides the pop of Color I did a spotlight technique.  Haven't done this technique in years!  Used Altenew 3D embossing folder named Daisy bed for these two cards.  The inks are Catherine Pooler ink pads, they are still my favorite right now.  These inks are so bright and beautiful.

3 cards 1 stamp set

 3 cards 1 stamp set

This challenge is for Altenew Fan group on Facebook for Niki's challenge .  She took over the Fan group this past Saturday, and showed us how she made 3 cards using only one stamp set.  So she challenged all of us, who were watching to do the same thing.

I used one stamp set,  Altenew Dancing Poppies for this challenge. For my 3 cards I did the spotlight technique.

Sentiment shuffle

Sentiment shuffle

I'm back to doing the Tuesday #altenewchallengelive with Jen Rzasa from Altenew .  This time the theme is sentiment shuffle, another words you take different style, and/or stamp sets, even dies.

all supplies: Altenew

For these two cards I used embossing folders, die words, and stamped words.

supplies used:  Altenew and Waffle Flower stamp co.

This take care card is a preview of cards to come.  I will keep it a secret for just a little bit how I did the bottom section of the card.  Feel free to make guesses in the comment section, in fact I would welcome your comment guesses.

Divide & design

 Divide & Design

Two more cards for Jen Rzasa #altenewchallengelive with the theme Divide & Design.

stencil used:  Altenew Stencil Art:  Aspen sky, Catherine Pooler ink pads
I did the stack, cut & shuffle technique for these two cards.  You can see more of this technique here.  It's a fun way to create more than one card at a time.  I used altenew Stencil Art: Aspen sky, and Catherine Pooler ink pads which are my favorite ink pads.  They have been my favorite ink pads since I discovered them at a crop years ago

Full circle

 Full circle

This week with Jen Rzasa tuesday #altenewchallengelive the theme is Come full circle.

supplies used:  Gina K designs wreath stencils and stamps

This stencil makes it easy to create wreaths that you can also stamp inside of the wreath image.  I kept these two cards BIG and square, which I usually do not do.  These turned out to be 5" square cards, unfortunately when I get around to mailing them it will cost a bit more.

I also did one more full circle leaf that I cut in half, and then made into tags or they could be bookmarks.  Either or.

Stars and Stripes

 Stars and Stripes

This week for #Altenewchallengelive Tuesday challenge with Jen Rzasa is Stars and Stripes.  Well, I had to stretch my imagination a bit for this challenge.  Jen did say we could use stars, and stripes or one or the other.  So I mainly went with stripes.

My first two tags have masked out areas with Altenew masking paper, then colored in with blending brushes, and inks.  Before removing the masking paper I placed a stencil (big flower) down then added ink through the stencil.  Added a few enamel dots, die cut words with shadows, stickles glitter, ribbon and done.  The pink tag again used masking paper, enamel dots (my favorite embellishment), but this time I stamped images in the stripes.

For my next two tags I again used Altenew masking paper.  This masking paper works very well...it doesn't rip the paper at all.  Used stamps, stickle paints, enamel dots, and stamps.  These stamps are old ... in fact, I don't even think the companies are still around.

The last two tags need something, something more ... I just don't know what, yet.
Just want to mention that on the horizontal stripes tag ..... the ribbon is a pink ribbon.  I guess when I scanned it ... my scanner wanted it to be silver, but it is actually a light pink ribbon.

Crafting with dice

 Crafting with dice

This week #altenewchallengelive with Jen Rzasa the theme is crafting dice roll.  Anotherwords Jen asked us to roll a dice then do the technique from the list of 6 ideas.

I couldn't help myself, I had to do more than one!  My first card, and tag dice rolls were #5 Geometric genius, and #6 Sentiment spotlight. The geometric shapes are the stencils from Altenew   Modern circles and Calligraphy maze stencils.  The black set rolls were #3. shimmer/shine, and #6 sentiment spotlight.  I used the same Altenew stencil Modern circles.  All the die cut words are also from Altenew
The shimmer/shine on the black tag, and card are from some texture paste I have in my stash.
For the next set of cards, and bookmarks I used the same Modern circles stencil.

B & W tiny but mighty

 B & W tiny but mighty

I made several more tiny but mighty 3" cards.  These cards

supplies used:  Altenew embossing folders: Natural wicker, Organic linen. dies: Sizzix vault fright night, vault gothic portraits.

can be used as tags, also.  I figured since I was making tiny... they might as well be some sort of tag.  I do like the addition of the embossing folders in the background for texture.  I forgot to say I'm entering these tiny but mighty card/tags in Jen Rzasa #altenewchallengelive  Tuesday challenge.  These are in the configuratations of the rules, being 3" or smaller BUT I did have to make them in the spirit of Halloween.

Red & Green opposites

 Red & Green opposites

Altenew challenge with Jen Rzasa opposite colors continued an extra week, so I decided to do another color scheme.

supplies used:  Altenew enjoy the flight stamp/die set

I had fun doing red and green for opposite colors.  This small, but mighty airplane stamp/die set is easy to assemble, and stamp.  For the say hi card, I even used Altenew glitter cardstocks.  Can you believe I had red/green glitter cardstocks?!?!?!?  It just fell into place when I saw the glitter cardstocks.  I will even admit ..... it's been so long since I made a shaker card ..... when I was assembling this card I forgot the window plastic to hold in the holess beads!!!!! Too funny!  Oh well, guess that just means I need to make more shakers so I don't forget. See more on shaker cards here, here, and here.  Just call up shakers cards to see more.

Loads of layers Mixed Media

 Loads of layers Mixed Media

More on Loads of layers for Jennifer Rzasa #altenewchallengelive Tuesday challenge for Altenew.

For my tags and cards I did mixed media techniques.  So I collaged different pattern papers, rub ons, added little paper elements, ribbons, stickle glitter paints, texture pastes, enamel dots/self sticking gems, and layers of cardstocks.  Oh yes, the main layer with all the mixed media techniques are playing cards!

Yes, the tags have regular size playing cards, and the cards have jumbo size playing cards. I haven't altered playing cards for at least a year ... I forgot how much fun it is to alter playing cards.

Loads of layers-Flowers/Chicken/Black cards

 Loads of layers-Flowers/Chicken/Black cards

Still having fun with Jennifer Rzasa Tuesday #altenewchallengelive this week is all about Layers.  She wants at least 5 layers.

The Chicken is from Unity stamp company.  For my chicken card there are 5 to 7 layers depending if you include ribbons, and enamel dots as a layer.  The Flower card is all Altenew products including the flowers!  Let's see for this card there are just 5 layers ... but that fits the rules.

My black cards are both 5 layers with embossed layers, gold/silver layers, flowers, gems, and ribbon.

More layers to come!

Abacus

 Abacus

An abacus, also called a counting frame, is a hand-operated calculating tool which was used from ancient times, in the ancient Near East, Europe, China, and Russia, till largely replaced by handheld electronic Calculators, during the 1980s.  Why the lesson in an abacus, because Jen Rzasa latest Altenew #altenewlivechallenge theme is Time Travel.

supplies used:  Altenew Abacus die, Delicate magnolia die set

I used the abacus because it goes way back in time.  The magnolia flower was just to dress up the abacus.

Rainbows with stencils

 Rainbows with stencils

Believe it or not I am having fun with rainbow colors!  Yes, me ... the one who said she didn't do rainbow colors.  Continuing with Jen Rzasa's Altenew Tuesday #altenewchallengelive Radiant Rainbows.

Basic instructions:

Cut strips of Altenew masking paper - 1/4" and 1/8".  ***You can use any masking paper you have in your stash.*** Layer a stencil over the panel with the masking paper strips.  Blend the color of the rainbow over the stencil.  Remove the stencil. Before removing the masking paper strips... with the same colors blend color over the stenciled areas. Remove the strips to reveal the fun.   Layer the stencil panel to dark panel then onto base card.

I couldn't stop there sooooooooo I did one more card doing the technique I call Joseph's Coat with a stencil twist.

You can see how I did this technique in this post with a video I did back in 2020!  Wow, didn't think it was that long ago since I did this technique.  Time flies when having fun.

Radiant Rainbows

 Radiant Rainbows

This week's #altenewchallengelive with Jen Rzasa is Radiant Rainbows.  Now to start I will say it ... I don't usually do rainbow colors on my cards.  It's just not me, but I got into the colors, and using Altenew Stencil Art:  Nature Splashes ... which is my favorite of the Stencil Art sets I own.

I did the best I could with the inks I own for the rainbow colors.  For this first one, yes I said first one, I ended up doing a bright pink, dark green, yellow, a medium orange, blue, and a violet.  Well, as close as I could.  I really like the way it turned out.  For me the Nature Splashes stencil set worked out for all my cards, and bookmarks.

The second set is "kinda" a pastel rainbow.  You tell me. I used a couple of light purples, medium green, and medium blue.

Third set with sweet friend, and hi! are a variation of the second set.  I changed up the orange and blue for this card, and bookmark.

Fourth set is a little more of a variation of colors.
Anyway, I had fun with my Stencil Art:  Nature Splashes set.

Painted Jellyfish

 Painted Jellyfish

Another week another #altenewchallengelive challenge with Jen Rzasa from Altenew stamp company.  The challenge for this week is NO black in our cards/projects.

stamps/dies used:  Altenew Painted Jellyfish stamp/die set, Enamel dots

If you know me you know I love a good fun fold, and like I've said before this is a good one.  It's a variation on a z-fold card, so I call it a z-fold with a twist.  Just to let you know I made this card because a friend sent me a birthday card in this style, thank you very much ... so ... I just had to go to pinterest and find instructions.

Here is a scan of my written instructions and a card template.
Again if you know me ... I couldn't stop at just making one or two cards.
Here are three more cards with the theme no black using the Painted Jellyfish.  I do like this stamp set because a few years ago we visited the Mystic Aquarium where I saw a variety of Jellyfish.  I never knew they came in so many colors and sizes.

Thank you for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Dracula and Wolf Man

 Dracula and Wolf Man

I'm still getting inspiration from Movie posters for Jen Rzasa Tuesday #altenewchallengelive from Altenew stamp company.

First up is Dracula a famous vampire character introduced in Bram Stroker's 1897 novel of the same name.  I'm in a tag mood so my Dracula is a big rectangle style tag.  Started by blending a few green inks on a white card ... white embossed the Dracula in the center.  The other two were stamped with a green ink.  I know this poster colors were green and black ... but ... I just had to add a bit of red.  I mean it's Dracula a creature of the night who wants to suck your blood.

Next inspiration is The Wolf Man the image of a cursed soul doomed to become a werewolf at the rising of a full moon. Wolf Man another creature of the night.  This is longer but still rectangle style tag. I blended colors on this tag, but I only used blending brushes that were in front of me.  Another words only the ink on the brush ... I didn't get out any ink pads just used up ink on the brushes.
Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Triangles!

 Triangles!

This week in Jen Rzasa Tuesday #altenewchallengelive the theme is Triangles!

I know I've said this before but I'll say it again ... I am having fun with these Tuesday Altenew challenges by Jen Rzasa co-owner and designer for Altenew.  The above cards are my favorites of the several cards I created with triangles.  The card in the middle is a 5x7 card (which I don't do often), but thought it worked for my triangle flowers on this card.  The other two cards are what I call geometric style.
These cards triangle like .. what I mean is there is a big triangle on the card with the square.  The tag has a triangle in the bottom corner, and the last card is called a fractured card.  There are other names but can't remember right now.  If you know leave me a comment and I'll add it to this post.

I started off by getting out a few stencils that are from Altenew, even though, for these challenges you don't have to use their products.

I pulled out different pastes to put through the stencils.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Magnolia

 Magnolia

I'm having fun with Jen Rzasa ABC challenge this week.  Found more M things so I created more samples.

Starting with these two cards.  M is for Magnolia dreams (embossing folder-stencil set), (Delicate) Magnolia die set, Moth from Meadow Reflection stamp/die set.  Used the colors Magenta, Maroon and Marigold.  Mini brushes on the cards, and perfect pearls MIST on unfinished panels.

Mini blending brushes came into play blending Marigold ink on Magnolia die cut flower.  Ribbons are also Magenta and Maroon in color.  Mini brushes were also used to blend inks onto Magnolia embossing folder.

Here are a couple of panels that I plan on making into tags, and bookMARKS.

The Magic stamp is an old Impress company wood mounted stamp.  Also sprayed the panels with Perfect Pearl MISTS. They have a beautiful shine in person.
