Easel cards

 Easel cards

Easel cards go way back in 2009! Just type easel cards in search box on the side bar to see lots more from over the years.

Now back to 2022!  Here are my easel cards today.

stamps/stencils used:  Altenew Meadow Burst layering stencil set and Dovetail stamp/die set

Measurements:

base card:  11" x 4 1/4" - score at 5 1/2" and 2 3/4"

layers: 5 1/4" x 4", 5" x 3 3/4" and 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"

But keep in mind the layers can change for any card size for this style card. The strip layer is popped up with foam tape, so when the card is folded to form the easel, it will stand up.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back again soon.

another easel holiday card

stamps - Unity stamp co.
pattern papers - SU
Prisma color pencils
This year I am having fun making different style of easel cards and here is another center fold easel.  It is decorated with pattern papers and a fun ugly sweater stamp set which is colored in with Prisma color pencils, of course.  My favorite coloring medium.  I did a video that you can see on Sue Wisniewski - YouTube channel or in this post.

center easel card with video

Here is another style of easel cards...this is called a center fold easel card which is a great fun fold card.  I used up some pattern papers I had in my stash which is a good thing.  I picked up this ugly sweater stamp set and just had to use it!  what fun!  for this card you can write on the inside under the easel fold or on the back of the card if you have a lot to say but for me a little is good.
please watch video here in this post or at Sue Wisniewski - YouTube  this video is a little longer than my usual videos because I made a mistake and left it in to show you how to fix it.  Also I'm still learning how to do things with this new camera so please be patient with me.
measurements:
base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
score at 4 1/4" to make note card
white layer - 3 x 4 1/4
pattern papers - (2) 1 1/4 x 4 and (2) 2 1/4 x 1 7/8
stamps - Unity stamp co.

Basic easel card with video

basic easel card
stamps - Unity stamp co.
Sizzix carved ornaments die
Ranger distress inks
DSP by SU
measurements:
base - 4 1/4 x 11
score and fold at 5 1/2 & 2 3/4
front and inside layer - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
The easel card has been around for years, and has stood the test of time.  This is a card that is just a little more than an ordinary card.  A couple of folds adds that extra touch to make this an extra ordinary card.
watch my video at the end of this post or at Sue Wisniewski - YouTube
like and share this video with your friends.  you can also give it a thumbs up if you like it.
thanks,  see you next time.

Spot on - Ease in!

Do you see spots before your eyes...don't worry it's just the spotlight technique.  you can see another card using this technique here, and here.  Also did another of my favorite style cards and that is an easel card.  Easel cards are fun and can be just about any size you want to make them.  Check out another one here and here.  You are probably wondering why this unusual color scheme ..... well because I decided to pull out my bag of scraps and use them so that is what I did.  In my scrap bag I have pieces of cardstock as small as 1" to half sheet of cardstock which as you know when folded a note card size.  The funny thing about it is I also had distress inks that match the mint and yellow cardstocks.
spotlight card details:
stamp - Just For Fun flower balloon
sequins, seam binding ribbon

May Arts Christmas card challenge---didn't win

>>>>I wasn't one of the winners, I guess better luck next time for me.  Congratulations to the winners.<<<<<<

***this post will stick here till 12-18-14. If you have a chance please go to vote (see below) on my cards or any of the others. thank you.  scroll down to see most recent post.***
First wanted to say thank you to Bethney at May Arts ribbons for
accepting me as one of the twelve to participate in the Christmas
card challenge. Go here and follow instructions to vote on our cards, you have till 12/18/14 to vote . We were sent this ribbon that is like seam binding so it is perfect to use on cards with not a lot of bulk added to the card.  If you look to the left you will see my first card which is a twisted easel card with lots of green and brown tone ribbons that worked great for my gingerbread man theme.  the background piece is a take on the bargello technique then I added ribbons to the top tags by threading them through the holes to tie bows.  On the bottom tags I did what I call a ribbon folded bow kinda like ribbon candy.  For my second card (look to the right) again I did an easel card but I used Spellbinders Nestabilities dies for a shape card.  The background piece is the bagello technique and the top ribbon
bow is what I like to call a loopy bow.  All I did was thread a small piece of ribbon in the hole then I looped all the ribbons around my four fingers and next placed the looped ribbons in between the ribbon that was threaded through the hole and tied it off.....separate all the ribbon loops to make a fun floppy loopy bow.  Now if you look at the stamped candy cane there is another type of bow where I did a one hole bow.  Wrap the ribbon around the piece and thread both ends of the ribbon through the one hole and tie a bow!  comes out perfect every time! One last card which is one of my go to type of card ...... a shaker card!  A fun card that is always a wow card and this one is no exception.  First I adhered the ribbons to a piece of cardstock then ran it through my Big Kick with this big Sizzix snowflake for the shaker opening of the card then just finish off the card with saying and you are done.  Hope you stuck it out here for this long post and please go to Ribbons May Arts blog to see mine and all the other cards created with these ribbons and don't forget to leave a comment over there on the cards you liked.  thanks!

Pigs in the air

This is just a fun card! don't you think?  to start it's an easel card which we all know is one of my favorite type of cards.  check out the pigs...they are paper pieced with some fall color paisley decorative paper.  I taped a couple of punched out scallop circles to make a template to sponge clouds all over the card.  Have no idea why I put the pig in the circle sun....just did it.  wrapped some ribbon around the card for some interest and stamped the house with the trees masked behind it.  Please go to Simple Salutations #64 challenge and join in the paper piecing challenge if you have time.

Day two of our hop is all about Polished Stone technique!  that means it's time to get out your alcohol inks and get inky!  My leaf card was done using plastic packaging that you normally throw out in the trash but today I'm using it with alcohol inks to make some leaves that look translucent.  Also check out the background piece on this card it's also a piece of the plastic packaging that I did the polished stone technique on the ran it through my Big Kick with a woodgrain embossing folder.  I really like how this card turned out.  My second card is an easel ( and we all know how much I love easel cards!) shape card.  Did polished stone technique and over stamped the images using white embossing powder and ink.   Hope you liked my cards for the two days I participated in this swap.  Remember the more you comment the more chance you have to win in our drawing.  Next stop is Trudy .

Had a lot of fun with these easel cards for Be Virtuous stamp set.  For my first basic easel I combined an easel card with a shaker card!  so for this card you get two for one!  just felt I had to cut out the bamboo then had all that open space so what do you do with open space ..... add a piece of acetate and create a shaker!  My second card is a new way to do a triple easel card. In the past here you can see another type of triple easel card. This new way is so easy using Spellbinders Nestabilities it's just one, two three you are done.

For Shello I did a couple of regular stand up easel cards in teal and green.  On teal Shello I did a fun background technique where basically you put inks and paints on a craft sheet then just smoosh (technical term. lol!) cardstock in all the inks, let it dry then stamp on it.  Also did some basic masking so Shello would be swimming behind the seaweed plants.  For my
second Shello easel card I stamped Shello on a separate piece of cardstock then blended colors all over him with my blending tool, cut him out and mounted on card.  I do like that saying, "sea ya soon!"
