Wiper cards have been around for years!  In fact, I learned this card so long ago at an Art Continuum, way back in 1999 or 2000.  That was long, before I started blogging, not even sure if I was on Facebook then, either.  Please scroll down to see my video or go to my you-tube channel.  

So here is my Wiper 2022 card

Measurements and template:

base card: 8 1/2" x 4 1/4"  score at 5 1/2" and 7" 

or you can score at 1 1/2" and 3" then flip card.

front layer: 2" x 8 1/2"  score at 1 1/2" and 3".

wiper mechanism: 1" x 1 7/8"

Pattern paper measurements:

4" x 5 1/4" for inside back panel

cut two 1 1/4" x 1 3/4" for front left layer

cut 1 3/4" x 5 1/4" for long section on front layer

cut 1 1/4" x 2" for top right layer

Window sheet:  1/2" x 2" approximately

Monster pop ups

stamps used:  Catherine Pooler monster ghouls stamp set/dies

Pop up cards are a long time favorite of mine. 

measurements:

base card: 4 1/4" x 11 score and fold in half to form card.

pop up mechanism: cut a strip of cardstock and score evenly four times. Glue the two ends together to form cube.  Cube will be the pop up mechanism that will fold flat inside card.

Stamp and color all the monsters, die cut and adhere or mount to card. Inside card adhere the pop up cube at the folded score line of the base card.  Adhere saying or monster to pop up cube.  Add other layers to card as desired.  You can also see on my card I embossed one of the front layers for more dimension.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up 

This is an overlapping gate fold card with a pop-up inside the card, that I created for my local card group.

basic measurements:

card base - 5 1/2" x 11"  score at 2 1/2"... flip card around and score at 4 1/4".

inside white layer - 5 1/4" x 4"

DSP layers - (2) 5 1/4" x 4", (2) 5 1/4" x 2 1/4"

scraps for other layers.

For the pop-up cut a strip of cardstock approximately 1" x 5 1/4" then score at 1", 2", 4 1/4"

Tape the strip up against the inside fold of the card.  Add tape to the other end of strip, and fold back end with the tape on it. Lay the strip with the tape on it back against itself and carefully place it down on the card.  Close the card to tape it to inside of card.  Open card and pop-up element will be secure in the card.  As you can see in photo the pop-up layer is taped to the back of the front layer and inside the card.  For more you can go to you-tube and search gate fold cards.

Collar fold and V pop up card

stamps used:  Stampin' Up and  Unity stamp co.

This my August Fancy fold card for my local swap group.

To make the collar fold:

1.  On 5 1/4" x 4" DSP find the center of the long side.

2.  Cut in about 1/2" to 1" and fold back each side of the cut.

3.  Tape down each side of the collar and you are done.

To make the pop up inside:
1.  Start with a piece of 8 1/4" x 5 1/4"

2.  Score in the center at 4-1/8

3.  On each side at the top, left and right make a pencil mark at 2 1/4" 

4.  At the center score from the top make a mark down at 2 3/4"

5.  Place a ruler at the top left hand side going diagonal to the center mark and score, repeat on the right hand side. 

6. Fold the score line inside card.  This is a reverse fold.

Tulip accordion fold card

 stamps used:  Stampin' Up

This is a fun fold card that will make anyone smile who receives it.  This is a vertical pop up but you can turn this card around and make it horizontal, if you like.  My friend Holly turned me onto this design and I plan on making more in the future.

measurements:

two 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" - base panel cards

front layers:

3 1/4" x 4 1/4" - green layer

3 x 4 1/8" - cream stamped layer

10 3/4" x 3" - inside accordion fold

score 10 3/4" x 3 at 1 3/4" and 6 1/2"

HoneyPop card

stamps used:  Inky Antics Bumblebee HoneyPop

This type of 3D card is fun, and easy to create with the clear stamp set for easy placement of the images.  All you need is a sharp pair of scissors to cut out the honeycomb paper to create the pop up piece inside the card.

Ice days are here!

Yes, the ice has arrived here in CT.  they had to close one of the bridges .... yesterday, I think it was.  I didn't have any where to go so not sure which day.  sometimes I go for days without needing to go out but in this day and age with all the electronics you hear about things almost immediately. that's how I found out....facebook.  Anyway thought this card is appropriate for the occasion.  It's a pop up card with the igloos and penguin fussy cut and mounted to mountains of snow and ice.  all images from Starving Artistamps  what I like about these stamps (not affiliated with company just like them) is that they are deeply etched red rubber.  sometimes you just have to get out the rubber.  today most of the stamp sets are clear so you have to make sure you have a cushion to stamp, or specific ink so it doesn't hurt the stamp ... BUT with rubber you can just stamp, have fun, and not worry about anything.  rubber hold up to most everything.  guess you can tell I'm a fan of red rubber stamps opposed to clear stamps.
today it's a little cold but seems to be ice free so go out and have fun.☺

Summer Flamingos

Summer time is for enjoying the outdoors and those wonderful Pink Flamingos.  this card is what I call a hidden message pull up because you pull on the string and up pops the hidden message along with the pink flamingos stretching their necks out of the cattails.  This card is easier than you think to make.  starts out with a note card ... stamp insert card then place it inside note card and add mounting tape along the two sides that is what guides the insert card inside the note card.  now tape the note card closed and decorate the front of the note card with sliding flamingos and cattails.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was my husband's birthday and we celebrated with yummy cheesecake topped with huge strawberries from Julia's a local bakery.  There is a little funny story about the card I made for him and it goes like this....there's a stamp company that actually sells a stamp set with the saying on the front of my card but I was too lazy or just didn't want to go out and find it so I used what was in my stash including a few alphabet sets.  Now the funny is the night before  (around 11 p.m.) we were sitting in front of the t.v. and he found a movie to watch....Superman with Russell Crowe .... almost immediately a giggle came on my face and he thought I was going daffy or something....anyway to make a long story short I couldn't resist and had to go get his card and by this time I was laughing out loud so he really thought I was daffy!  gave him the card and he burst out laughing!  this is probably only funny to us because we are a couple and sometimes after living with each other for so long you can kinda read each other's minds.  anyway enjoy the card and the cheesecake.

White wash it!

More on white wash technique.  it's such a fun way to have color pop out on your card.  For my Lily card I did bright colors but for my tree frog I kept him subtle.  Inside my tree frog card is another of the floating pop ups.

Here it is another month so you know what that means ...... Blog Hop!  time to visit our blogs, get some stamping inspiration and remember if you leave a comment along the way you will be included in the drawing to win one of the new stamp sets released this month.

Now you know how I pick a theme and run with it each month......well.....I guess this month I was a little scatter brain because I couldn't make up my mind so mainly my theme is File Folder cards with a different idea thrown in here and there. First I did what I call a file fold over card in slate blue and light olive green...I like that color combo...how about you?  My second card I'm showing is a floating pop up card with the white wash technique but ..... I colored on top of the white wash with my Prisma color pencils.  This month I'm on the second half of the week for the hop so have a cup of tea and start hopping!
