Last Simple Salutations hostess post for me

***if you are here for MFPaHC harvest/halloween hop please scroll down***

Like the title says this is my last week for hosting over at Simple Salutations .....it has been a fun and interesting experience for me.  Mainly because, as my friends know I like to make cards with lots of layers or that fold in some way or move!  It has been a bit of a challenge for me to make simple cards but I tried sometimes with success and other times not so much.  So without further ado the theme for this week's challenge is Paper Piecing! so get out that stash of decorative papers that we all have and piece away!  Please check out my teammates Vickie and Steph's blogs to see their paper piecing cards.  Thank you to all of you for making this such a fun experience.

Simple Salutations 63 - Autumn!

Simple Salutations challenge is here again.  Decided we should celebrate the coming Autumn season so with that lets stamp leaves, the color of the season or even your favorite sport for the season.  whatever Autumn comes to mind for you!  As you can see for my card I did the colors and leaves with one of my go to techniques.....resist.  In this case I stamped and embossed my leaves VersaMark ink and white embossing powder then added fall colors.  Buffed off the leaves to make them pop after adding the colors.  For my ribbon I did a fun technique I call, "the in and out" knot.  Simple said you punch two holes, thread the ribbon down the holes to the back of the card.  Next criss cross the ribbon ends and thread them to the front of the card....trim and there you have it!  "the in and out" knot!  Please check out my fellow sister blogs......Vickie's and Steph's blogs to see their cards for Autumn!

Wednesday means.....Simple Salutations challenge

Yes, another Wednesday means time for another Simple Salutations challenge!  This is challenge #61 with the theme of Time!  anything goes as long as you use some kind of time whether it be a clock, wrist watch or even something pertaining to time on your hands.  For my card I stamped it in brown ink then cut it into three panels, layered it onto brown cardstock, tied ribbon around this panel then taped it to cream note card.  stamped stop watch on separate piece of cream cs cut it out with oval die.  die cut scallop oval to put behind stop watch and mounted onto card.  stamped saying in black ink directly over the three panel layer.
So let's see your time all this week at challenge #61 at Speedy TV a free community where you can see lots of samples and join other fun challenges.  don't forget to stop by my sister members Vickie and Steph's blogs to see their cards, too.

***this post will stay up top till 8/11/13 as a test. please scroll down for recent post.***

Today we are going out of this world at Simple Salutations this week.  Hope you decide to join us at MFP Simple Salutations #57 to explore the outer regions of the world.  It will be fun to see if you explore the moon or further.  The main thing is to have fun!
For my card I did one of my go to techniques....reverse masking that is where you cut out a circle like here for my card and use the negative for the mask.  sponge color inside the circle, stamp a few images.  Next remove the mask and stamp some more because this is a stamping challenge.  teehee  added some stickles for fire coming out of the rocket and free hand doodle dashes around the circle.  hope you like my card and also go visit On The Fringe - Vickie Yeakley and Live Laugh Scrap with Steph Ackerman to see more of there out of this world cards.

Simple Salutations #54 - Holiday in July!

It's Wednesday so you know what that means it's time for another challenge over at Speedy TV which is a free place to join in on all MFPaHC challenges.  I'm hosting the challenges for Simple Salutations through September so I hope you will stop by and join in this week here for Simple Salutations #54 if you can.  The theme this week is Holiday Time in Julyyou get to choose whatever holiday you like to create cards for example Christmas, Thanksgiving or Halloween.  I bet my friends thought I would pick Halloween because that is my favorite card making time but I didn't I did Christmas because I happened to have some of those stamps out on my table.....soooooooooo....it was convenient to do but maybe I'll will make a couple of Halloween and throw them out sometime this month.  you never know what the mood will inspire.  Now for my card I did a few technique from the past.  First I punched out a circle and used the negative for a mask, used my stipple brushes to color in the circle.  Remove the mask then stamped the cardinal on the present with black ink over the red circle.  Stamped saying on the top left of the card then looked at the card and it was just too plain for me so I edged with Krylon gold leafing pen but still too plain for me sooooooooooooooo .............. found old wire topped stick tool (never could remember
what it was called---see pic.) and rubbed the Krylon gold leafing pen on it then quickly punched it all over the card.  Layer stamped card onto black card and red note card then punch out two black photo corners to layer on top of all the layers to finish off my card.  enjoy our Holiday Time in July! this week and join in if you are so inclined.

At the beach!

This week at Simple Salutations we are celebrating summer at the beach!  So dust off all those seashell, lighthouse and boat stamps and create a fun beachy card to add to Simple Salutations #52 challenge.  I kept my card very simple this week....stamped saying with black ink and the seashells with Encore multi-color ink pad...stamped the seashells across the card three times and cut out one of the shells three times.  mounted the cut out shells with foam mounting tape.  Next I even did a little free hand doodle around the card with black pen to finish off the card.
Please note that we have two new team members at Simple Salutations ..... Vickie and Steph .  feel free to visit their blogs to welcome them.

Simple Salutations 49 Get Well

***if you are here for MFPaHC blog hop please scroll down***

This week at Simple Salutations challenge the theme is Get Well!  this time of year there are lots of summer colds going around so having a couple of get well cards on hand is a must.  I made a small card 3" x 8" folded in half.  I know it's an unusual size but I used cardstock from my scrap pile.  It's always good to use up those odd sizes in our pile on our table.  Did a little masking on my card around the flower....simple to do....just stamp the flower, make a mask from a post-it note, cover stamped flower with mask then sponge on color with a reverse mask.  It's easier than it sounds.  Stamp a saying, layer onto gold/yellowish card then onto black card.  boom! you are done.

Happy Birthday to me-sneak peek

Yes, it is my birthday today and I'm hosting the challenge at  Simple Salutations this week so I thought it would be fun to have a virtual birthday party!

so the theme this week is Birthdays!

all week at Simple Salutations and since it is my birthday I thought it would be fun for me to do two cards one serious and another humorous. Look close and you can see a couple of sneak peeks of images from MFP, A Heinrich Co. on my cards.   My first card has some collage stamping for the background and then a saying layered across the center of the card with a brad embellishment.  On to my second card is a shape card and ........ humorous!  you have to love that saying!  at least I do and I do feel it fits my birthday this year because I'm getting up in years and my husband is a retired fire captain so he knows all about extinguishers!  lol!  I really feel you need to have a sense of humor in life so go give someone a laugh today.   Add your birthday card over at Simple Salutations this week and you will have a chance to win this stamp.

Kraft it!

Yes, it's time for me to bring my kraft cardstock back out of the draw!
It's been a while since I have used it and years ago it was basically the only cardstock I used besides the basic white and black cardstock.  I'm bringing kraft back to life with a challenge I'm hosting on  Speedy TV which you can join for free.  This is my 7th week hosting Simple Salutations so please stop by and join in this challenge - Kraft it! all you have to do is make a card using kraft cardstock...you can stamp on it....use it just as the base card or whatever you want as long as there is kraft cardstock somewhere in your card.  Another thing is you need to include a salutations (saying) on the front of your card to be included in our drawing for this beautiful butterfly stamp. The most important thing is to have fun stamping!

Simple Salutations challenge 45 - Birds of a feather

***if you are here for MFP May blog hop please scroll down for my post or click here***

Today is Wednesday and that means it time for Simple Salutations challenge 45.  The theme is Birds of a feather so that means you can choose to stamp a bird or just feathers on your card.  Me I had to be an overachiever so I did both.  First I stamped the background with a feather using Encore ink.  I used Encore ink for all images on my card.  Encore ink pads are a beautiful pigment ink with shimmer to them and because they are a pigment ink they do take a little time to dry.  Now back to my card I stamped the peacock with the same ink pad and die cut her with a Nestabilities book label die then taped to purple cardstock with the corners done with SU ticket punch.  I free cut
a banner and mounted it to the front of my card with foam mounting tape but first I did stamp the saying.  Hope you like my Birds of a feather card and decide to join us at Simple Salutations 45 this week.  This beautiful butterfly stamp will be given to the random winner in our drawing this week.  Good Luck!

Simple Salutations #42 - Spring is here!

Yes, I do think spring has finally arrived here in the northeast.  I do like the cool breezes, sunny days that spring brings and all the budding flowers and trees.  So with that being said the challenge over at Simple Salutations #42 is Spring is here!  make a card with the theme of spring...that could be anything that comes to your mind like flowers, trees or spring showers.  For my card I took bright greens and orange for my colors by making color blocks.  One way of making color blocks is to punch small squares out of post it notes, place it on card stock then sponge the color.  next over stamp the images onto the color blocks and you are done.  please join in the fun at Simple Salutations and be included in drawing for the stamp set Father Time.
