Altenew challenge #5 Washi tape

 Altenew challenge #5 Washi tape

Jen Rzasa, a designer from Altenew is doing a challenge every Tuesday.  This week the challenge is to use washi tape as the main part of your card or project.

I am obsessed right now with making quilt cards ... so ... I decided to try to make a quilt card using washi tape.  It worked, at least in my world it works.  The background strip is washi tape ... The quilt star is done with all different washi tapes. I ran it through my die cutting machine with an embossing folder for extra texture.  I like the way it came out.  You can see more quilt cards I made here.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Tag cards

stamps used:  Unity stamps

Two tag cards inspired by Angela from Unity stamp co. who did a facebook live on Saturday.  I did it from my memory so I'm sure it's not the same but who wants to completely follow the crowd.
Basically I got out four tags from my stash then covered them front and back with pattern papers from my pattern paper scrap bag.....yes, I have a scrap bag dedicated just to pattern paper scraps.  I stamped directly on pattern paper tags with VersaFine black ink then embossed with clear powder.  Added touches of color with prisma color pencils on stamped images.  Sayings were stamped with same ink and embossed, cut out and layered on tags.  I also cut down the front tag before attaching to back tag with washi tape.  Oh yeah, I cut down the long saying on the inside tag so when you read it ... the of bliss belongs after moments.....the saying was too long so I cut it down after I stamped it.
Thanks for stopping by and please come back again, soon.  If you don't want to miss any of my posts you can go to my sidebar and sign up with your email.

Wizard fun tags

Wizardly tag fun!

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. Something Magical stamp set

Here are some fun wizardly (hmmm is that a word? lol!) tags I created this week.  I told you I would be back with more things using this stamp set.  Don't be surprised if you see more using this stamp set very soon......but for now let's talk a little about these tags.  The reason for these four tags is I ran out of that kraft cardstock so I couldn't make cards.  I took the 4" x 4" cards I had made and placed it on a pre-made manila tag, cut it down to kinda fit on the tag then I added some washi tape plus the strips I cut off of the 4" card were adhered to the tag.  Found a black tag in my stash and basically did the same thing.  The stubby tag with the wizard hats and cauldrons I decided to just cut down to fit the size of the card so as you can see it is an unusual size tag but that is o.k.  The last tag was cut down from a 5" square I stamped with the wreath builder template so again it is not your normal size tag.  I will add some ribbon or fibers to them and mail them out to friends.  Oh, yeah for three of them I just stamped the images in black but one of them I added some color just for the fun of it. Hope you are enjoying seeing my wizard creations as much as I am creating them.
thanks for visiting and please come back again soon.

Just because

stamps used:  Unity stamps

I cut out a brown kraft tag, stamped cuddlebug winter bunny then added pattern paper, washi tape and twine to this tag.  I colored in the bunny with my Prisma color pencils ... my coloring medium of choice.  Wanted to stamp a saying on the tag but ran out of room so I stamped it on a scrap piece of the same color of the tag ... punched a small hole and add it to the top of the tag with more of the same twine.  Oh yes, I added some "snowballs" with Nuvo drops.
what do you think?
hope you like it and come back again soon.
Happy New Years to you and your family!

bunny tags

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
Here are two simple but I think, fun tags.  I stamped the cuddlebug bunny onto kraft/brown cardstock that I cut into a tag.  Added some highlight around the bunny with color pencil then added snowflake pattern paper to the top and re-punched the hole.  Taped on some washi tape and, yes I added extra adhesive behind it because I didn't want it to come off.  One of the tags I just stamped the saying right onto the tag and the other I stamped onto a separate piece of cardstock then used a punch to give it the appearance of being a tag.  Tied on some bakers' twine to finished off the tags.
Hope you enjoy these fun two tags.  thank you for stopping by and please come back soon.

mixed media tag

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. , Stampin'Up
This tag is going to a friend for her birthday this month...it was sent so she should already have received it.
Just had some fun with this tag.  blended distress inks with blending tool, used a stencil, stamped feathers and hey friend from a Unity stamp set and the fussy cut lady is a SU stamp.  More about the background ... texture paste through a stencil - both white (top) paste and clear (bottom) paste.  not sure you can see it in photo but I added some glitter to clear paste while it was still wet.
stamps used:  Unity stamp set
only thing different with this tag is I stuck some washi tape on the edge.
Thanks for stopping by.  come back soon.  comments welcome.

Art Journal - wk# 20 music

week #20 - Music
For this art journal layout I decided to add a piece of pattern paper that happened to be a song also found some music washi tape in my stash.  The song is My country tis of thee.  back when I was a kid in school we used to do the pledge allegiance to the flag and sing this song so it makes me think of my school days way back then.  I stamped the bird over the paper and added a stamped saying to the top of the page.  kept it simple.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend with family and friends.

7 layers of tags

stamps used:  MFP stamps
stencil:  Dina Wakely faces (only used part of it)
inks:  distress and gelatos
There is a lot going on here on these two tags.  there was a challenge on one little tag challenge on facebook group I belong to and the hostess called 7 layers....well...not sure if mine are 7 layers but close.  let's count and see:  1. blended color  2. stamping  3.  washi tape  4.  doodling  5.  stencil  6.  pattern paper  7.  self sticking gems ... think that is about it.  didn't do them exactly like she did but still it is collage style.  that's it for today.  enjoy the sunshine if you have any where you are.

Fun with tags

stamps used: Limited Edition, Stampotique, dylusions and hand carved bird
dylusions sprays, stencils and paints
washi tapes
still in my green and purple mode with these two large tags.  the silhouette tag has a couple of masks/stencils on it with some washi tapes and ink blending with regular distress and oxide on it.
the bird tag has the ink sprays dripping down it for dimension and fun.  I carved the bird a while ago so it is a bit primitive but I like it and that is a good thing otherwise I would use it...right?  I did stamp the little daisies (co. unknown) with distress wilted violet oxide inks...I'm liking those inks! also got out a couple of spotted/splatter stamps that I've had forever ... think the cluster one is by Printworks which is out of business, unfortunately.  Oh, yeah I colored in my carved bird with dylusions white paint and beak is prisma orange color pencil.  tie on some twine and or ribbon to finish off tag.

Art Journal Adventure - vertical and horizontal lines

stamps by - Diamonds(out of business), American Art Stamp, Toomuchfun Rubberstamps, Verses Rubber Stamps, Stampers Anonymous, Burton Morris, JFF
Week #14 - include strong vertical and horizontal elements
This layout is a mix of stamping and masking to create all the vertical and horizontal lines.  Also used washi tapes to create horizontal lines along with stamps then threw in some stamped sayings just because I could.  did some doodle lines around the horizontal lines just for fun.

Tag on.....in 2017

stamps - Stampers Anonymous
TH washi tape
distress inks
TH paint dabbers
Did a paint resist technique on these two tags...one with black paint and other with white paint. I think the white paint worked best for me because for some reason my black dabber paint just soaked into tag.  the white dabber dried with a bit of texture which worked better for this technique.  dabbed paint onto background images and stamped on tag then allowed them to air dry...I left them for a few hours so I knew they would be fully dried.  got out my blending tool and distress inks to blend color all over tags.  wiped off painted images with damp paper towel to remove any excess paint and make that image pop a little more.  next I stenciled with white paint dabber on tag with black image and the same distress green ink on the white painted image.  over stamped the row of birds with black ink on the one tag but the tag with the black painted background image ... well ... that one didn't need anymore black so left it alone.  added some washi tape for some dimension to break up the stamping...after that I stamped the rainman on separate cardstock....fussy cut....and mounted to tag.  done! except for cleaning stamps...remember to always wash stamps off that you used paint or the paint will dry into the crevasses forever.  thanks for stopping by...leave me a comment and let me know what you think...does it need more or less?
