Today is just a quick post to show a couple of cards with cherries that I made for my dentist, and her assistant.  I am such a baby when it comes to going to the dentist or any doctor appointment...I thought it would be nice to share a set of cards with them as a thank you for putting up with me.

stamps used:  Stampin' Up small cherries &DSP, ASITH big cherries

For the A2 card I stamped the small cherries on white cardstock, and die cut with circle die.  Layered it up on card panel that I die cut with SU edger die.  For the shape card, I die cut a folded card, with circle die hanging off the folded edge, just a little to keep the fold of the card.  Layered other circles on the folded circle shape card with the stamped cherries that I also took a black sharpie, and doodled around the cherry image.

Here are samples from Dina Wakley class I took at Papercraft Clubhouse in Old Saybrook last month.

The class was called Layered Abstract Flowers ... but mine didn't always turn into flowers.  

This is how they started out ... but I decided after I got home to doodle on them.

Couldn't leave them as flowers.

In the cards I saw birds.  What do you see?

For my bookmarks and tag I saw more birds ... and even a turtle coming out of his shell.  Oh well, that's me for you.  I plan on trying this technique again to see what I come up with.

Layers away...

Here are the last of my Layered background cards.

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

I used my circle dies to cut out different size circles from the layered backgrounds I created.  The sloth card I chopped off a couple of sides of the circle then adhered to note card and stamped the sloth with brown ink that I embossed.  The squirrel card I die cut the background with three circle dies and mounted on the note card.  Ooops, forgot to mention before I mounted the circles I added some highlights with my white gel pen to the leaves.  I stamped and fussy cut the squirrel and mounted him on the card.

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. 

The camera gal was stamped, colored with Prisma color pencils and mounted over the background circle.  Next I white embossed the saying right onto the background circle then doodled lines around the circle die.  Poppy gal is gold embossed over the background circle onto the note card and embossed the saying on the bottom of the card.  This time I doodled dash lines around the background circle.

wk #17 art journal - Hand

Week #17 - Hand

what I did was trace my hands then stamped the eye and face in each hand.  meaning each hand is watching or seeing what each other are doing.  around the stamped images inside the hands, I did some doodling for the fun of it.  added some stickle glitter for the nails and blended a couple of colors around the hands.  simple but effective....don't you think?  I do.

Just had fun with this journal page layout by doodling circles around where I used the round blending tool and dabbed or pushed down to make circles of paint.  as always with me, I used what was out and at hand on or around my craft table so that's why the dylusions paints and distress wilted violet oxide ink pad.  I did a water-wash with the oxide ink inside the figure 8's I drew.  oh, yes that bird is also my creation that I carved a while back.  stamped dylusions quirky sayings just for the fun of it.

There is a lot going on here on these two tags.  there was a challenge on one little tag challenge on facebook group I belong to and the hostess called 7 layers....well...not sure if mine are 7 layers but close.  let's count and see:  1. blended color  2. stamping  3.  washi tape  4.  doodling  5.  stencil  6.  pattern paper  7.  self sticking gems ... think that is about it.  didn't do them exactly like she did but still it is collage style.  that's it for today.  enjoy the sunshine if you have any where you are.

Week #14 - include strong vertical and horizontal elements

This layout is a mix of stamping and masking to create all the vertical and horizontal lines.  Also used washi tapes to create horizontal lines along with stamps then threw in some stamped sayings just because I could.  did some doodle lines around the horizontal lines just for fun.

Doodles away

Doodles, doodles and more doodles!  I know now-a-days it is called Zentangles but I have been doodling since I was a kid in my notebooks.  wish I had kept them but unfortunately a lot of my doodles, even poems I wrote and photos were thrown away by someone who will remain nameless because don't want to get into it here.....this is my place for happy stamping and my art.  First the images were stamped then I just doodled away inside of the images.  I did take a 30 minute zentangle class a month ago just to get the basics of that technique and to me (my opinion) it is doodling.  we were even told to make up our own designs inside the images, so that is basically what I did, but I will say we were given a sheet with some designs to work off that was good for a starting point.  I like to do straight or wavy lines mostly but have been branching out with circles.  I need to add sentiments to these cards to complete them.  what do you think?  leave me a comment to let me know what you think ..... zentangles or doodle?

snowflakes journal pages

I haven't done anything in my large journal in a couple of months so decided to join in the challenge over on the dylusions challenge facebook page.  the theme is snowflakes and blue.  I used dylusions sprays for the background, stencils and did a lot of snowflake doodles with different white pens.  stamped and cut out dylusions houses and face then glued to the pages.  stamped snowflake dreams with dylusions alphabet.  added some stickles for sparkle.
