Loads of layers Mixed Media

 Loads of layers Mixed Media

More on Loads of layers for Jennifer Rzasa #altenewchallengelive Tuesday challenge for Altenew.

For my tags and cards I did mixed media techniques.  So I collaged different pattern papers, rub ons, added little paper elements, ribbons, stickle glitter paints, texture pastes, enamel dots/self sticking gems, and layers of cardstocks.  Oh yes, the main layer with all the mixed media techniques are playing cards!

Yes, the tags have regular size playing cards, and the cards have jumbo size playing cards. I haven't altered playing cards for at least a year ... I forgot how much fun it is to alter playing cards.

Triangles!

 Triangles!

This week in Jen Rzasa Tuesday #altenewchallengelive the theme is Triangles!

I know I've said this before but I'll say it again ... I am having fun with these Tuesday Altenew challenges by Jen Rzasa co-owner and designer for Altenew.  The above cards are my favorites of the several cards I created with triangles.  The card in the middle is a 5x7 card (which I don't do often), but thought it worked for my triangle flowers on this card.  The other two cards are what I call geometric style.
These cards triangle like .. what I mean is there is a big triangle on the card with the square.  The tag has a triangle in the bottom corner, and the last card is called a fractured card.  There are other names but can't remember right now.  If you know leave me a comment and I'll add it to this post.

I started off by getting out a few stencils that are from Altenew, even though, for these challenges you don't have to use their products.

I pulled out different pastes to put through the stencils.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!

 Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!

Here today for Blank Page Muse and ... it's pumpkin time, but I'm sure you figured that out with the title.

If you look at this trio of cards you can see I used the Pumpkin Trio stencil for the main image.  In two of the cards I just stenciled the big pumpkin as the focal image.  The sayings on the cards are heat embossed with various companies embossing powder.  Used dies from various companies to cut out layers.
I'm showing you a close up so you can see that the pumpkin does have some texture.  The texture is from the TCW Pearl white stencil butter.  This product creamier than other texture pastes.  You can smooth it flat or leave more texture in it.  I like the smoothness of it. This stencil butter comes in lots of colors but I only have pearl white and stardust butter champagne.

The shine of the pearl white stencil butter is wonderful. The photo doesn't do it justice.
The champagne stencil butter on black has a sparkle that just shines in the light.

Modern circles

 Modern circles

This Modern circles is a stencil.

stamps/stencil used:  Altenew Hello and Hugs stamp set, Modern circles stencil

The best thing about this stencil is you can rotate it around to match up the half circles.

On the close up you can see where I matched up the half circles.  They don't match up totally, but leaves a space between the halves.  I do like the way it looks when matched up.  For these cards I first placed the stencil on a black card, then added gold embossing paste.  Of course, now I had to set the cards aside to dry.  I let them dry overnight, just because I went and did some laundry.  So now the next day I put the stencil back down on the card.  I thought it would be fun to add white, so again I had to let it dry before doing anything else.  Crazy, huh?  Just couldn't leave well enough alone had to do a second ink that needed to dry before continuing.  Anyway ... back to the card ... next I cut down the stenciled piece, layered onto white card just slightly bigger.  Added that piece to another black card about an 1/8" bigger.  Yes, I like layers.  Wrapped the gold sparkle ribbon around the layered piece, then added to top folding A2 card.  Stamped the hugs, and fussy cut that out before adhering to card.

fun with Altenew

Had fun doing my first zoom class with Altenew.  It was all about the Retro Plantines stamp set.  We made card fronts using embossing paste, fussy cutting pattern papers and of course .... stamps.
Above are my card fronts.  For now they are sitting out on my table waiting to become cards.

Here are a couple of other cards I made using this same stamp set.
As you can see I used some bright greens and blues on the slimline card.  On the note card I used the same bright green and an olive green.  Not sure those two greens go together but what is done is done!  leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.

Snowflake crop 2019

Another Snowflake crop weekend done until next year!
I did a couple of MITI's this year using a new product and new inks to me!
product used: chalk coulture
This product was unique and new to me.  basically you place down a stencil and spread a thin layer of the product, remove the stencil to reveal the end result.  I guess it can be described as a matte finish texture paste that dries fairly quickly.

product used:  Catherine Pooler inks
For these two cards they were embossed first with a big background stamp.  The bird (die cut) card used the inks blended over the black embossed background.  These inks went on smooth and blended beautifully.  The create (die cut) card was embossed with white embossing powder then overstamped with a striped image using the same inks.
I had fun using both these products and ended up purchasing a few of the ink pads to take home.
Not affiliated with either of these products just enjoyed working with them.

4.  blended the atc with distress wilted violet ink.
5.  stamped "smile" onto white cardstock then punched it out and mounted with foam mount tape on atc.
Green atc

2.  stamped saying with black ink.
3.  adhered rick-rack ribbon on atc.
4.  added a clear gem.
5.  layered onto green cardstock to complete atc.

mixed media tag

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. , Stampin'Up
This tag is going to a friend for her birthday this month...it was sent so she should already have received it.
Just had some fun with this tag.  blended distress inks with blending tool, used a stencil, stamped feathers and hey friend from a Unity stamp set and the fussy cut lady is a SU stamp.  More about the background ... texture paste through a stencil - both white (top) paste and clear (bottom) paste.  not sure you can see it in photo but I added some glitter to clear paste while it was still wet.
stamps used:  Unity stamp set
only thing different with this tag is I stuck some washi tape on the edge.
Thanks for stopping by.  come back soon.  comments welcome.

MIUCB #15 - AG & Mixed media

My first challenge as a design team member of Mix It Up Challenge Blog (MIUCB)
MIUCB #15 - July 2018
AG (anything goes) & mixed media

stamps used:  Brutus/Monroe create a cameo stamp set
stencils used:  dylusions, crafter's workshop
inks:  distress
There is a lot going on in these two cards because it is mixed media and I went to town with different techniques.  The background is a technique called layered backgrounds ..... here is a video showing the technique.  on top of the backgrounds I did a little more mixed media using stencils and embossing paste.  while the embossing paste was still wet I sprinkled glitter on it.  stamped the images and fussy cut then layered onto card and added some stickles for sparkles.  The card with the three heads is on a wobble so when you flick it ... it wobbles and shakes.
Please join in this challenge over at Mix It Up blog ...  you have the whole month of July to enter.

Paints, stamps and tags

the tag on the left I started at a friend's house a while ago.  we made several big tags using her old acrylic paints she found in her stash.  the fun thing besides stamping with a friend if the paint was caked or dried out we just dropped the bottle of paint in the trash.  sometimes it's just satisfying to clean out our stash we have had for years and years.  back to the tag ... first painted the background with a couple of colors of paints, stamped with big Hot Potato stamps over the painted background and that is where it was till I took it off the pile on my table of unfinished tags/cards ..... I added an outlined butterfly that I first stamped onto cardstock I colored with inks and stamps .... fussy cut it out...glue on some prisma color easter grass ... stamped, colored bird, fussy cut and mounted to tag.  Now for the other tag on the right.......this tag is another big tag that is full of dylusion acrylic paints, stencils, colored embossing paste, and stamps.  the background is Dyan Reaveley's technique with brayer.

Stampers Anonymous - crazy bird

February tag remix

This month over on Blog | Tim Holtz ... tag of the month is mono-printing and embossing paste so here are two tags I got with these two techniques.  I used TH shattered glass stencil which wasn't the best choice but hey, live and learn.....I just went with it after I printed it on the tag with the gun toting lady.  There was still ink on the stencil and my mat so I spritzed them both with water and printed another tag.  I forgot how much I like doing the scrunched up ribbon that was shown in the mono-printing instructions...have to do that more often.  will be posting these two tags over on onelittletag challenge on Facebook.

entering in following challenge:
1.  TH blog - Feb. remix - monoprint/embossing paste
2.  That Craft Place challenge - anything goes
3.  SweetStamps blog challenge - anything goes
4.  The Daily Marker challenge - 30 day coloring challenge

Yes, another tag

this is tag #19 for the challenge over at onelittletag on facebook.  did some embossing paste for the background on this tag and am finding out that it is hard to tape anything to it.  best to use a good strong glue! but since I punched a hole through my round stamped piece tape/glue doesn't matter this time.
