 Black Magic

Black magic is a technique back is a technique I learned back in 2017, I think. It could have been earlier than that I don't remember. I did a blog post here with a video.  I'm bringing it back for Jen Rzasa midnight magic  #altenewchallengelive.  I used Altenew stamps for all of these tags, and bookmark.

 Basic instructions:

1.  stamp solid style images onto black cardstock with white pigment ink.  Let it dry.
2.  add color over pigment ink with color pencils.

My first entry are two tags.  

My second entry is a bookmark I did on dark blue cardstock.

It was fun doing this technique again.

Soft Focus

 Soft Focus

This week Jen Rzasa  Altenew #altenewchallengelive theme is Soft Focus.  She explained Soft Focus as pastel colors ... that's not usually my style but sometimes you just need to get out of your comfort zone.

As I mentioned it was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was nice to play with pastel colors for a change.  My pastel colors were mostly a light pink.  I did stay in my comfort zone by making a couple of cards, and a bookmark.

White out

White out

 This week for Altenew challenge with Jen Rzasa theme is White out.  That just means NO white space.

I did ink blending on both these tags.  If you look at the skinny tag I took one blending brush with color to shade the vanilla card a melon color.  Next I added texture with bubble wrap in the background, then punched out a mushroom for fun for this tag/bookmark.

For the tag below I made it an oval shape ... just for fun.  Ink blended the white oval with yellow, and green inks.  Stamped flower stamp in black, then added color with my Prisma color pencils.

I am going to add these tags into Altenew  challenge for this week.

I am having fun with metallic cardstock, and embossing folders.  Here are a couple of bookmarks.

 Don't worry I haven't stopped making cards.  Cards are my go to projects.  Used Altenew stencils, dies, and paste to make all the bookmarks, cards, and tags.

Also made a couple of tags.

For all of these samples I used eighter gold, or silver cardstocks, and pastes.

Crafting with dice

 Crafting with dice

This week #altenewchallengelive with Jen Rzasa the theme is crafting dice roll.  Anotherwords Jen asked us to roll a dice then do the technique from the list of 6 ideas.

I couldn't help myself, I had to do more than one!  My first card, and tag dice rolls were #5 Geometric genius, and #6 Sentiment spotlight. The geometric shapes are the stencils from Altenew   Modern circles and Calligraphy maze stencils.  The black set rolls were #3. shimmer/shine, and #6 sentiment spotlight.  I used the same Altenew stencil Modern circles.  All the die cut words are also from Altenew. 

 The shimmer/shine on the black tag, and card are from some texture paste I have in my stash. 

For the next set of cards, and bookmarks I used the same Modern circles stencil.

Coastal faux postage

 Coastal faux postage

I'm back to making faux postage style cards using, Waffle Flower company Postage Collage Coastal stencil set.  There is also a Coastal greetings set that has lots of fun sayings to go along with the faux postage stencil set.  

I first did it in multiple ink colors which is the way it is created to do.  BUT, of course, knowing me I had to do it in a monochromatic style 

using green inks!  Also had to create a tag/bookmark style one, too.  The lighthouse image was perfect for a tag/bookmark.  Hope you are not tired of seeing faux postage projects from me, because I'm sure there will be more.

Radiant Rainbows

 Radiant Rainbows

This week's #altenewchallengelive with Jen Rzasa is Radiant Rainbows.  Now to start I will say it ... I don't usually do rainbow colors on my cards.  It's just not me, but I got into the colors, and using Altenew Stencil Art:  Nature Splashes ... which is my favorite of the Stencil Art sets I own.  

I did the best I could with the inks I own for the rainbow colors.  For this first one, yes I said first one, I ended up doing a bright pink, dark green, yellow, a medium orange, blue, and a violet.  Well, as close as I could.  I really like the way it turned out.  For me the Nature Splashes stencil set worked out for all my cards, and bookmarks.  

The second set is "kinda" a pastel rainbow.  You tell me. I used a couple of light purples, medium green, and medium blue.

Third set with sweet friend, and hi! are a variation of the second set.  I changed up the orange and blue for this card, and bookmark.

Fourth set is a little more of a variation of colors.  

Anyway, I had fun with my Stencil Art:  Nature Splashes set.

Christmas bookmarks

Yes, Christmas in May.  Ok, I know you have heard of Christmas in July.....I thought I would start a little earlier with these bookmarks.

Above is slimline card. 

Above is 5" x 7" card

Here are a couple of bookmarks in a pocket on a card.  The Merry Christmas bookmark is on a slimline card.  The Santa hat is on a 5"x7" card.  Basically what I did was stamp the images with gold inks, so I did have to wait to let them dry.  While I was waiting I made a 5"x7" card for one, and a 7" x 8" slimline card for the other.  Used lots of self sticking gems to add more sparkle to these cards.  For the pockets I just cut cardstock, and added it with foam mounting tape at the bottom of the card. Leaving the top open to create the pocket.

Santa hat bookmark has a green layer instead of gold, but still stamped in the gold pigment ink.

Today I decided to make some bookmarks in different sizes...with pockets, and without.

Size of the tag determines the size of the pocket.  Flamingo bookmarks are stamped in pink ink then layered onto black bookmark.  Long stemmed flower was stamped on black card with white ink.  After letting the white pigment ink dry ... I spot colored with my prisma color pencils.  The flower stamped on the front of the pocket was done by inking stamp directly with red ink for flower ...green ink on stem.  Then stamp it on white card to get the multi color flower.

Pocket - base 5 1/2" x 6 3/4".  Fold in half to form pocket.  Punch top with circle punch.

Again I stamped the images with white pigment ink, and let them dry.  Spot colored with primas color pencils.  

Pocket - 6" x 6" pattern paper.  Fold in half.  Fold top corner down to form slanted pocket.  Glue side, and bottom to form pocket.

Abstract pictures

Here are samples from Dina Wakley class I took at Papercraft Clubhouse in Old Saybrook last month.

The class was called Layered Abstract Flowers ... but mine didn't always turn into flowers.  

This is how they started out ... but I decided after I got home to doodle on them.

Couldn't leave them as flowers.

In the cards I saw birds.  What do you see?

For my bookmarks and tag I saw more birds ... and even a turtle coming out of his shell.  Oh well, that's me for you.  I plan on trying this technique again to see what I come up with.

More Duoprinting w/chlorophyll 

All I can say is that this technique is ADDICTIVE!

stamps used:  Rogue Redhead Designs

With this bunch of duoprinting w/chlorophyll prints I cut them down into small tags.  Added ribbon or brads to attach a white tag behind the printed tags.

Above are large tag cards.  Simple to make, just cut out two large tags one from the chlorophyll print, and one from white cardstock. On the white big tag score along the top at 1/4".  Add liquid glue above the score line then place the chlorophyll tag print on top.  When it's dry the tag will open just like a card.

Repeat the same steps to create a small tag card as with the big tags.

This time I ran some of the chlorophyll prints through an embossing folder.  This added some dimension to the card.  The hello card is a die cut.
I have lots more prints but I won't show any more, because they are basically the same as what has been shown in all my latest posts.  Just type chlorophyll in search bar to see all the posts again.

Easy Folios

I have been having fun making these Easy folios.  You take one idea and just add to it.

Easy Folio #1 has two side pockets inside.

measurements:

Cover - 8 1/2" x 12"  On 12" side score at 1 1/2", 6" and 10 1/2"

Fold on the score lines to create the cover with inside pocket. Make a tag out of excess paper cut for cover.

Easy Folio #2 with on side pocket inside.

measurements:

Cover - 8 1/2" x 12" On 12" side score at 4 1/2" and 9".  

Inside folio #2 you can see all the tags, notepads you can create to fill folio.

With the left over paper you can make tag or small booklet to put inside folio.

Easy folio #3 has a side pocket plus a couple of layered pockets.

Cover - 8 1/2" x 12"  On 12" side score at 4 1/2" and 9"

With the same cover measurement you can change up the Folio by adding or decreasing score lines.  With the left over paper there are lots of things you can create ... layered pockets, tags, bookmarks, and journal cards.  Just use your imagination.

Embossing folders

 Embossing folders

Embossing folders are good tools to have in your stamping stash.  They are good for adding texture on mixed media projects, or on cards.

stamps/embossing folders used: Altenew stamp co. Darling rose stamp/die set, Tie Dye embossing folder

For the Tie Dye embossing folder I ran it through my Big Kick, then cut it down to the size I wanted.  Added ink by lightly rubbing the ink pad over the raised spots on the embossed card.  Mount a die cut rose on the cards and done.

stamps/embossing folder used:  Altenew stamp co. Darling Rose stamp/die set, Masonry wall embossing folder

Did the same for this EF as I did for the above Tie Dye EF.

Just thought I would have a little fun with these two new (new for me) EF's!  I plan on playing with them more soon.

Corner folded bookmarks

stamps used:  MFP & stamps,  Unity stamp co.

Start out with a piece of square paper.  I used pattern papers from different companies.

basic instructions:

1.  Fold bottom corner to meet with top corner this will form a triangle.

2.  Fold right point up to the middle point.

3.  Fold left point up to the middle point.

4.  Unfold both end points back to triangle shape.

5.  Fold one half of middle point down to the bottom edge.

6.  Fold the right point back up to the middle point.

7.  Next tuck the end underneath the fold.

8.  Fold the left point back up to the middle point.

9.  Tuck the end underneath the fold.

They really are easy to create once you make one and get the idea.
