Mixed media w/Friends #14, 15 & 16

 Mixed Media w/Friends #14, 15 &16

I'm behind in showing our MMw/Friends jumbo playing cards so, I thought I would show three in this post.

Sue #14 uses graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland paper.  That's it just the paper...simple but effective.

JAGS #14 Night birds - blended background technique with TH moon stencil.

Sue's #15 more graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland paper.  Hey when you find a good thing go with it.

JAGS #15 graphic 45 Pumpkin paper.

Above Sue's #16 background paper graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland.  Skeleton, condemned and other words are from Stampers Anonymous Rest in Peace.

JAGS #16 More cut outs from graphic 45 paper.

Guess we were on a kick with graphic 45 papers!

Mixed media w/Friends #12 and #13

 Mixed media w/Friends

#12 and #13

Sue #12 Puffins

I used Catherine Pooler Puffin party stamp/die set to create this fun MMw/F jumbo playing card.  With mixed media the sky is the limit as you can see with the puffins standing on top of each other.

JAGS #12 Believe in magic

She did some beautiful ink blending for the background of her MMw/F jumbo playing card.  She stamped a fairy in black on a trio of mushrooms.

Sue #13 Little boy

Here I used an old book page for the background then layered TH paper doll/small talk on a corrugated tag.  Added some ripped papers and a couple other die cuts for interest.  Glued some beads to simulate the ground.  Distressed the background with ink.

JAGS #13 Inspire

She started out with black cardstock for the base.  Added an oval that was ink blended then mounted a beautifully colored sunflower onto the oval.

Hope you liked a look at our MMw/F jumbo playing cards.  If you want to see from the beginning look here and to see more of the MMw/F journey just type mixed media w/friends in the search block on the left side of my blog.

Mixed Media w/Friends #10 & 11

 Mixed media w/Friends #10 & 11

Below are two more of our MMw/F

#10 by sue

Used a gel plate background with distress inks I had laying around. Stamps from various companies: ASITH, limited edition, TH,  and IO

#10 by josette

She used black gesso, Encircled in Beauty die, sequins, paperty trey ink, and a Hope die.  stamps Inspired hope

#11 by sue

TH paper dolls/small talk, an old book page, emptied used tea bags. Yes, tea bags...I didn't want to go through the process of making tea stained paper so, I just cut open used tea bags and let them dry.  Believe it or not I didn't use a single stamp on this card.

#11 by josette

Used butterfly stencil, various inks, stitched label dies.  stamp used Encircled in Friendship.  Also some glimmer paste.

Mixed media/Friends #6 & 7

 Mixed media w/Friends #6 & 7

MMw/F #6 by sue

For this one I did a little white gesso and gold paint on the background.  We actually had a theme for this one and it was to use gold on our cards.

MMw/F #6 by josette

Josette went with ripping papers for the background of her card which I like.  I usually go more straight but I do like the uneven papers here.

MMw/F #7 by sue

I really dug deep into my stash this time .... mini dominoes!  remember doing them back in the day.  Look here in this post from 2012! If you type dominoes in my search box on my side bar you can find more.  Anyway, back to my card.  The stamps on dominoes are from Stampin' Up.  The words are from an unknown company because it is wood mounted with no name.  We are still doing the gold theme so got out my gold foil and tassel.

MMw/F #7 by josette
She used distress oxide inks, Copic markers to color her card.  And added some great texture by using die as a stencil with texture paste.

Mixed media w/friends #5

 Mixed media w/Friends #5

I have been bad with showing our MMw/F (mixed media w/friends) cards lately.  Below are two MMw/F cards from way back in May 2021.  I will catch up showing more soon.

MMw/F #5 by sue

you can click on pic to enlarge to see supplies

The best part about making these mixed media style projects is you get to use up lots of things in your stash.  For instance, I have had this pad of fabric paper for a year, and I finally used it!

MMw/F #5 by josette

Here she used Unity stamps and distress inks to distress the edges of the card.  She went the extra mile and made an envelope to fit the card.
Hope you are enjoying seeing our mixed media jumbo playing cards.  Here is where it all started MMw/F #1 post.  If you want to see more you can type mixed media w/friends in the search box in my side bar.

Mixed Media w/Friends #3 & #4

 Mixed Media w/Friends (MMwF)

MMwF #3 by sue - stamps used: Catherine Pooler Call Me stamp/die set

For the background I swiped on some Adirondak acrylic paints, which I have had in my stash for years.  In altering these jumbo playing cards we are trying to use up our stashes ... my friend and myself who are making these cards and trading them between ourselves.  On top of the paint I added some gold foil and gold thread then glued on a pre-made cardboard tag.  The doily and phone dies were adhered to the tag.

MMwF #4 by sue - stamps used: Stampin' Up Poppies, Altenew leaves, Make an Impression saying

I had a left over piece of Herringbone technique so I used that for the base.  Again using up things from my stash, I added a chipboard star that I covered with liquid pearl paint and small beads. stamped and fussy cut the flowers but the leaves had a die to cut them out. Just adhered everything to the base card to finish it.

MMwF #3 and #4 by Josette

Josette swiped paints on her cards to make fun ocean and sky looking backgrounds.  For her ocean theme she stamped the images directly over the painted background.  For her sky background she fussy cut flowers in a jar and punched out little dragonflies to add to her card.

If you want to see more of these Mixed Media w/friends cards just type it in the search bar in my side bar.

Mixed Media w/Friends #2

 Mixed Media w/Friends #2

stamps used:  Art Impressions (bingo lady), unknown (little bingo card)

I had fun with my second MMw/F card because just before I made this card I did virtual Bingo with some friends.....so I thought how appropriate to do a bingo theme for my card.  I used the actual bingo card on my jumbo playing card and the raffle ticket for my background.  The rest just fell into place when I remembered I had the bingo lady stamp and saying.  I rummaged through my stamping drawers and found an old wood mounted little bingo card so had to use it, too.  Unfortunately, the wood mounted bingo card is so old I can't read the company name on the side of the wood.

this card is my friend's MMwF card

Basically what she did was sprayed the background with dylusions lemon zest ink spray.  Other things she used were clear gesso, mini mod checkerboard stencil, Unity Simplicity stamp set and TH small talk saying.

We are having fun doing mixed media techniques on these Jumbo playing cards.  You see more about these cards and our first cards here in this post.

Mixed Media w/Friends #1

 Mixed Media w/Friends #1

This idea started when a friend saw someone do this on her you tube channel ...tellHimthanku ... where she is doing mixed media on a jumbo pack of playing cards.  So my friend suggested we do it our way ... so let's get started!

Here is a look at the playing cards we are using:

We bought them at the Dollar Tree store in the toys section.  There are different themes but it doesn't matter the pictures on the cards because we will be doing mixed media techniques on them.
Definition of mixed media is In visual art, mixed media describes artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Assemblages and collages are two common examples of art using different media that will make use of different materials including cloth, paper, wood and found objects.

Here is a look at my first playing card:

this is my card - all supplies and stamps listed on the back of the card.

With that being said basically anything goes with mixed media.  For my first playing card I kept it simple, gluing white tissue paper on the card to start and, then went from there. Added some ripped decorative paper, die cut bird/branch, self sticking gems and of course a stamped saying.  We decided to list supplies and stamps on the back for a reference.

card with bottle is by JAGS

We plan on doing this until we get bored with creating these little works of art.  I have't decided, yet how I will store these cards but I'm sure I will find some type of notebook that will work.

Thanks for stopping by.  come back again soon.
