More on Halloween

 More on Halloween

Can't help myself so here are more Halloween cards.

stencils/dies used:  Waffle Flower big moon layering stencil set, TH word dies/stencil

On the Fright card I did the big moon layering stencil first.  The #1 stencil lays down the background color, #2 does layer of moon, #3 adds the last layer for the moon.  The wicked card I blended greens and blue inks.  After blending colors I did the big moon stencil.  Next added bats with Tim Holt stencil, last added the wicked word die.

stamps/dies used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH word die & stencils

Again I blended lots of color with green, blue, and yellow inks. The fright card has two of TH stencils.  Trick or treat uses stamps, and bat stencil.

Did color blending with a couple of blue inks this time.  Added bats, and rib cage with stencils.  I even splashed on some water to make the water spots.  Last mounted boo word.

Tags on Halloween

 Tags on Halloween

stamps/dies used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH dies

When I to change it up I make tags.  For these tags I blended lots of darker color inks for that dreary look.  Stamped over all the dark color with black ink or  Catherine Pooler Rose gold or Platinum ink pads.  They are pigment inks so they take a little longer to dry.  When I made these tags I was at a crop, and didn't have my heat tool ... so I had to set them aside to dry on their own for a few hours.

stamps/stencils used:  Stampers Anonymous, TH word die, TH stencil

No color blending on the above two tags ...just stenciled with TH pumpkins layering stencils.  Then stamped and fussy cut out the ghosts, because they do not have dies.  Gotta love "ghost hug" saying.

Do you like to make tags?

In my last post I asked a question about the purple paper behind the trees on the card.  The answer is purple vellum.  I found some of it in my stash of papers.  You never know what you find till you start moving things around.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Floating Panel Cards

 Floating Panel Cards

SU bats paper punch, Sizzix ghost dies.  sayings are all old wood mounted stamps from my stash
This is a new card design for me ... I do like all the layers. I saw this online on Lisa's Stamp Studio you-tube channel.

Measurements:

base card: 4 1/4" x 9 1/2"  score at 1" and 2".  Flip card and score at the other end at 1" and 2".

inside layer:  4" x 5 1/4" (color cardstock)

inside stamped layer:  3 3/4" x 5"

Mechanism:

same color as base card: 3" x 3 1/8"  cut 2.

(accordion fold extension)

score at 1" and 2"  (on the short side)

Panels:

same color as base card: 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" cut 2

same color as base card:  2 1/4" x 3 1/4" cut 2

pattern paper:  2 1/2" x 3 1/2"  cut 2

pattern paper:  2" x 3" cut 2

stamps used:  Ann-ticipations legs, Stampers Anonymous crazy things witches' hat

The legs and witches' hat are colored with prisma color pencils.

Assembly:

If you look at my template you can see all the pieces.  The base card is folded on each end ... valley fold, mountain fold. The accordion fold extension which is the mechanism is accordion folded ... valley, mountain fold.  Glue valley fold to first fold of the base card to create the extension.  Adhere the 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" card inside the fold of the extension mechanism with the card going to the inside of the base card.  Adhere the 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" card on top of the first fold of the extension mechanism.  Again with the card to the inside of the base card.  Repeat on the other end of the base card with the extension mechanism and layering cards.  All that is left is decoration the card.

Double Dutch door cards

 Double Dutch Door cards

stamps used:  MFP stamps

This is a card design that has been around for years, but this time I used 12" x 12" cardstock.  Using 12" x 12" cardstock means you only need one sheet of cardstock instead of two pieces to create this card design.
See template diagram below:

basic measurements:
base card - 11" x 10"
score on 10" side at 2 1/2" and 7 1/2"
score on 11" side at 7" and 3 1/2" on either side.
Cut away the two long sections.  This will form an upside down "T".  The two smaller bottom sections will fold in to create the doors.  Once you cut away the long sections, and fold on the score lines ... you will see how easily this card comes together.
Here is another card I create:
stamps used:  Unity stamp co. and Stamper's Anon. moon layering masks/stencils by TH

If you look closely to the pictures, you can also see the envelopes   (5" x 7") I created.  I made them with my envelope maker.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back again soon.

Black magic cards

stamps used:  Stampin' Up and Magenta
stamps used:  Stampers Anonymous, Magenta and Hero Arts
stamps used:  Stampers Anonymous and Endless Creations

Black Magic technique has been around for years, and I just thought it would be fun to bring it back to life.  Although, I was reminded of it on one of Gina K designs FB lives recently.  Here is a post I did back in 2017 with a video.. ... but I know it goes back farther than 2017.  I did a google search and found the Black Magic technique going back to 2010 but I think it goes back father.

Basic instructions:
1.  stamp solid style images onto black cardstock with white pigment ink.  Let it dry.
2.  add color over pigment ink with color pencils.
3.  add dots, dashes or doodles with white gel pen.

below is just information for sending envelopes through the mail.
Sizes for Letters
You probably have a picture in your mind of what a "letter" is. Possibly you're using a standard No. 10 envelope for your letter, so that's easy to picture. However, if you decide to create a mailpiece with its own special envelope or if you are designing a piece that will be folded to letter-size, be sure to keep in mind the following size requirements for letters:

What Are You Mailing? Domestic

Knowing the shape of your mail determines the price you will pay.

Art Journal wk#35 Collage

week #35 - Collage
stamps used:  Stamper's Anon., dylusions, MFP
Yeah! for me.  I'm all caught up again for my art journal challenge.  this week is collage which sometimes for me a bit out of my comfort zone but I like the way this page turned out.  I looked around my craft table and just used what was there so first I glued down a piece of printed deli paper.  This deli paper is used as placemats at a restaurant in MA that friends and I ate at when we were away for a weekend.  next I glued on some stamped images I had colored and fussy cut that are in a container on my table.  I added some washi tape because let's face it we all have rolls of it!  last I stamped the umbrella...colored it in with chalks....stamped clouds but they were getting lost so I paper pieced them to make them pop.  done and done!

Hip or not Hip

stamps used:  Stampers Anonymous TH Hipster
For this card and tag I used the chicken from the Hipster stamp set ... they are just so cool or should I say hip!  If you check out my blog you know I played with my alcohol inks a little while back and, of course that means a lot of backgrounds.  I took one of the backgrounds and made this simple but hip card using the chicken hipster.  the alcohol background for the card has a vintage feel to it with all the browns and gold.  Now the tag more vibrant with the blues and reds.  As you can see these images can stand alone and look great.  you can see me playing with the alcohol inks here in this post or Sue Wisniewski - YouTube for a video I did ... while you are there please feel free to check out other videos by me.  leave a comment and thumbs up/down (hopefully not down) so I know you stopped by.

Tag fun

stamps used:  Stampers Anonymous
A couple of tags with lots of bright colors ... and for me that is hard because I'm more the vintage or muted color gal.  I went bright because I was thinking fun birthday tags.  for the background I used lots of distress inks ... regular and oxide then I spritzed a stencil with water ... placed the watered side down on the inked tag ... let it hang out for a minute or two ... then removed to get the faint water resist effect.  next I stamped the ostrich image onto kraft cardstock and colored with my Prisma color pencils as anyone who knows me that is my favorite coloring medium.  I fussy cut the ostrich (don't own the die) and mounted her on the tag with foam mounting tape.  the balloon on the right was stamped onto some backgrounds I had out on my table but the one on the left was colored with Prisma color pencils.  now the balloon I do have the die so I die cut them and again used foam mounting tape to pop them onto the tag.  the string on the left is stamped and die cut but the string on the right is actual string.  I stamped the words from the same stamp set with the ostrich.  Oooops, forgot about the party hat they were also stamped onto the background paper then die cut and taped to the ostrich's head.  these tags will be saved until I need to send out a birthday to one of my friends.

Art Journal wk#27 - One

stamps used:
chicken - Stamper's Anon.
letters - unknown (unmounted set)
I am liking keeping it simple for the last couple of layouts.  This one is no exception.  stamped the chicken and did a little spot coloring, masked him off and then just blended some colors of distress inks in the yellow family with blending tool.

art journal wk# 22 - lift

week #22 - Lift
stencils by Crafter's Workshop
stamps - dragonflies by ASITH, typewriter alphabet/numbers by Stampers Anonymous

I used dylusions sprays to color the background and let it air dry overnight.  when it was dry I placed a stencil down (actually used two different stencil designs) then sprayed it with water to lift away some of the color.  again I let it dry for a few hours then I stamped the dragonflies with archival black ink and stamped the date at the bottom of the page.  kept this page simple to show off the lifting of the water from the color.

Art Journal Adventure - vertical and horizontal lines

stamps by - Diamonds(out of business), American Art Stamp, Toomuchfun Rubberstamps, Verses Rubber Stamps, Stampers Anonymous, Burton Morris, JFF
Week #14 - include strong vertical and horizontal elements
This layout is a mix of stamping and masking to create all the vertical and horizontal lines.  Also used washi tapes to create horizontal lines along with stamps then threw in some stamped sayings just because I could.  did some doodle lines around the horizontal lines just for fun.

Art Journal Adventure - home

row of houses - JFF stamps
balloons - peg stamps by Stamps by Judith
tree and home sweet home - MFP stamps
It's a dangerous saying - Stampers Anonymous
Week #13 Home
For this layout I went bright colors...just the mood I was in and what was close at hand.  started off by spraying my pages with dylusions ink sprays so that means the pages get wet and I have to be patient and let them dry!  needless to say I did let them dry but that meant I left it for a couple of days on my table before I went back to finish it.  but before that I decided to stamp a tag and the sayings on separate pieces of cardstock to use on my journal page layout.  oh yeah, I was making a couple of birthday cards in between so that is why all the balloons.  let me know what you think.
