Another accordion fun fold card

 Another accordion fun fold card

There are lots of variations on an accordion fold, and this one is simple but very effective.

stamps/papers/dies used:  Unity stamp co.

I also am using Unity coffee-doodle-doo stamp set again.  I do like this frazzled looking coffee bird, but for me she will always be a tea-totaler to me.

You can see more accordion fun folds here, and here.  To see even more just type accordion fold in search box, and more of my posts will pop up.

I colored her by getting out my blending brushes, and just brushing on some color.  Not even staying in the lines, so to speak.  After that I added more color with my prisma color pencils.
measurements:
base card:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
layer on base card:  4" x 5 1/4" pattern paper
accordion fold card:  3 1/4" x 11"  scored at 4" and 8"
layer for front of accordion fold card:  3 1/4" x 4 1/8"
stamped layer:  die cut
layer for inside accordion fold card:
pattern paper - 3 3/4" x 3"
To assemble the card:
Adhere the bigger section of the accordion fold to base card.  Fold the accordion card flat, and adhere 3 1/4" x 4 1/8" card on the shortest fold.  Next adhere the pattern paper, and stamped card.  Add some self-sticking gems to finish it.  Just keep in mind you can make the accordion fold card a little bigger, or smaller to change up the card.

Bookmarks and more

 Bookmarks and more

Today I decided to make some bookmarks in different sizes...with pockets, and without.

Size of the tag determines the size of the pocket.  Flamingo bookmarks are stamped in pink ink then layered onto black bookmark.  Long stemmed flower was stamped on black card with white ink.  After letting the white pigment ink dry ... I spot colored with my prisma color pencils.  The flower stamped on the front of the pocket was done by inking stamp directly with red ink for flower ...green ink on stem.  Then stamp it on white card to get the multi color flower.

Pocket - base 5 1/2" x 6 3/4".  Fold in half to form pocket.  Punch top with circle punch.

Again I stamped the images with white pigment ink, and let them dry.  Spot colored with primas color pencils.

Pocket - 6" x 6" pattern paper.  Fold in half.  Fold top corner down to form slanted pocket.  Glue side, and bottom to form pocket.

Happy Hummingbird

 Happy Hummingbird

Today is my Blank Page Muse blog post.  It may be February, but I'm bringing in a touch of spring.

I have two hummingbirds for you today ... a dark red, and a blue one.  Which color is your favorite?

For my coloring medium this time, I got out my Prisma color pencils.  When I really feel like coloring, that is the medium I choose.

You can see all the bright colors in the close up view.  I did do a little shading, by using different tones of the colors to show off the stained glass look of this Hummingbird.
The faded looking flowers in the background is the duoprinting w/chlorophyll which you can see in this post with pics and video.

Gnomes

 Gnomes

Normally I'm not a gnome person but, I received this gnome from Blank Page Muse ... and ... I like him!  Today's for my BPM design team post it's all about the Gnome and pumpkins.

This gnome was stamped with black ink, colored with my prisma color pencils then fussy cut him out.  No dies for him but it was easy to fussy cut out.

Also take a look at the background on these cards.  Did you notice the pumpkins?  That's a stencil!  I do like my stencils.  Stencils are a great tool to use along with my stamps for card making. I used my favorite inks from Catherine Pooler to color in the stencil.
I had to make a black and white gnome, too.  I am on a black and white kick right now with my cards.
Hope you like this gnome and pumpkin stencil as much as I do.

Big Backgrounds

 Big Backgrounds

Sometimes I just like to play with big background images.

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. big background spilled paint, Sakura

For Sakura card, I stamped the spilled paint background on white card with pink ink.  Next I stamped over the spilled paint paint background with the Sakura image with black ink.  Did a little simple watercoloring on the Sakura flower.  Die cut the colored image with Unity stamp co. mini scallop rectangle die set.  Layered all onto a pink A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") note card.

stamps used: Unity stamp co. big background Obsessed with Floral, SU Darling Donkeys

Stamped big background Obsessed with floral onto white card with red ink.  Die cut it out with wonky die set.  Stamped donkey with rose on white card, and colored her in with prisma color pencils. Cut her out with smaller wonky die.  Edged the cards with a little red ink just to make them stand out since all are done on white cards.

Floating Panel Cards

 Floating Panel Cards

SU bats paper punch, Sizzix ghost dies.  sayings are all old wood mounted stamps from my stash
This is a new card design for me ... I do like all the layers. I saw this online on Lisa's Stamp Studio you-tube channel.

Measurements:

base card: 4 1/4" x 9 1/2"  score at 1" and 2".  Flip card and score at the other end at 1" and 2".

inside layer:  4" x 5 1/4" (color cardstock)

inside stamped layer:  3 3/4" x 5"

Mechanism:

same color as base card: 3" x 3 1/8"  cut 2.

(accordion fold extension)

score at 1" and 2"  (on the short side)

Panels:

same color as base card: 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" cut 2

same color as base card:  2 1/4" x 3 1/4" cut 2

pattern paper:  2 1/2" x 3 1/2"  cut 2

pattern paper:  2" x 3" cut 2

stamps used:  Ann-ticipations legs, Stampers Anonymous crazy things witches' hat

The legs and witches' hat are colored with prisma color pencils.

Assembly:

If you look at my template you can see all the pieces.  The base card is folded on each end ... valley fold, mountain fold. The accordion fold extension which is the mechanism is accordion folded ... valley, mountain fold.  Glue valley fold to first fold of the base card to create the extension.  Adhere the 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" card inside the fold of the extension mechanism with the card going to the inside of the base card.  Adhere the 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" card on top of the first fold of the extension mechanism.  Again with the card to the inside of the base card.  Repeat on the other end of the base card with the extension mechanism and layering cards.  All that is left is decoration the card.

Beaver moon

 Beaver Moon
stamp used:  Unity stamp co. beaver cuddlebug

November was the Beaver moon which was named after the beavers, of course, who built their dams at that time of year.  It is fun doing this moon swap with some local friends, although we don't meet in person but send our cards to each other.  We can only hope things in our world improve and then we will be able to meet up in person.  Time will tell.  Back to my beaver card ... I have been doing a postcard each month and on this one I stamped on kraft, then ink blended the background.  The cute beaver, only one in my stash, was colored with Prisma color pencils.  The fun thing about this swap is everyone is doing their own thing ... one person is doing tags for all of her moon swap ... others are doing cards ... some are A2 size cards but a few are 5 x 7.  It's fun to get this swap every month.
***I'm a bit behind in showing my moon swap cards. I will be playing catch up with them***

Just because

stamps used:  Unity stamps

I cut out a brown kraft tag, stamped cuddlebug winter bunny then added pattern paper, washi tape and twine to this tag.  I colored in the bunny with my Prisma color pencils ... my coloring medium of choice.  Wanted to stamp a saying on the tag but ran out of room so I stamped it on a scrap piece of the same color of the tag ... punched a small hole and add it to the top of the tag with more of the same twine.  Oh yes, I added some "snowballs" with Nuvo drops.
what do you think?
hope you like it and come back again soon.
Happy New Years to you and your family!

Merry Christmas!

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
supplies used:  pattern papers, dies, Prisma color pencils.

Made a bunch of these cards using up some of 6 x 6 pattern papers.  basically I just cut up the pattern papers then adhered them to cards and added stamped images that I colored with my Prisma color pencils.  simple but effective cards ... at least I think so.
Enjoy the day and the holiday week.

Yeti for Christmas?

stamps used:  MFT (My Favorite Things)
supplies used:  decorative papers, circle dies, Prisma color pencils
If you are like me you have a baggie full of cardstock scraps and another baggie full of decorative paper scraps.  admit it ... you do ... just like me.
For these cards I got out those baggies and made some Christmas cards with a new (new to me) stamp set from MFT called Beast of Friends.  I saw it and just couldn't resist it.
No real dimensions for the cards because I was trying to use up my scraps needless to say I still have full baggies but did use up some of the scraps.  The yeti is colored very simply with Prisma color pencils ... just wanted to add a little color and yes, I did do one of the Yeti's with a green face!  I just had to ... it wouldn't be me if I didn't do something green!  hope you like these easy peasy cards.

Happy Thanksgiving!

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
This is an adorable turkey and I had a lot of fun making these cards.  I created circle cards using die cut circles...did some paper piecing on the feathers of the turkey...colored him with my Prisma color pencils.  For me this was an easy card but fun!  Oh yes, since it was an unusual size card I ended up making my own envelopes on the envelope maker...stamped a steaming hot pie on it and called it a day.
Enjoy your day or week with family and friends this Thanksgiving!

Paper piecing and more

stamp used:  Unity stamp co.
Stamped Unity Constance Angie girl with VersaFine black ink on white cardstock then stamped her again onto pattern paper and cut out sections or the whole image to paper piece it onto the stamped girl on the white cardstock.  Paper piecing is a simple and easy way to add color and patterns to an image.  add some twine or ribbon for extra dimension and I also did some spot coloring with my Prisma color pencils on one of the cards.  Oh yeah, did I forget to mention I made them into circle cards.  To do that just place circle die on a folded piece of cardstock.....what you do is place the circle die hanging off the folded edge just a little so when you die cut it, it stays a folded card just in the shape of a circle.

Go for the gold

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
This is one of those just go for it cards.  the background I dragged some gold paint down the card then I stamped the girl and spot colored her with my prisma color pencils.  the cut out banner tag was gold embossed several times then I pressed an inked stamp into it.  just an old technique I learned years and years ago.  I know it has a fancy name for the technique but for the life of me I don't remember it.  anyone remember?

Art journal wk# 28 - wonder

week #28 - Wonder
stamps used:  moon rose, limited edition,
Wonder, wonder, wonder, who or what?  isn't there a song lyric with that phrase in it?  someone out there help me remember.
Oh well, back at the art journal ..... I stamped a couple of old images ( I say old because they have been in my collection for probably 20 years) for this page with black ink.  added a little color on the rose with my prisma color pencils to make it pop and it is yellow because my favorite flower colors are yellow or white.  background color is just distress inks here and there.  so go out there and wonder about whatever you like.

Hang out everyday

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.

Here are two cards where I stamped on kraft cardstock and colored with my favorite coloring medium ... Prisma color pencils.  I just think that color pencil pop when done on kraft cardstock or for that fact just about any color cardstock.   I've also done it on dark brown and black cardstocks, too.  The sloth card is colored very simply with white, cream and brown color pencils ... to make it really stand out I took the white pencils and highlighted all around the image.  what do you think ... would you like to hang out with him?  This sloth brings back memories when my oldest son did a report on the sloth for school.  funny how some things pop into this ole head.  The bird card has more color because birds are more colorful than sloths but who to say I won't do another sloth and just add lots of color to him.  maybe I will.  now back to our sweet bird ... she is colored with a few blues for the body and cream/white on her belly.  Again I used the white pencil to highlight all around her to make her pop even more.  I can see her in all different colors in the future.

Space ... the final frontier

stamps used:  Stamp Oasis(star trek but might be out of business), Moon Rose (lines), Rubber Stamps of America (starship postmark-out of business)
Sorry that most of these stamps are unfortunately...out of business but who knows maybe you can do a search and find them somewhere.  They are in my stash and I just wanted to play with them mainly because, the post office came out with the Star Trek stamps.  and at times it's fun to get out the old and bring them back to life so that is what I did.  these are simple but, I think effective cards that are stamped and colored with Prisma color pencils.  I made three sets of these cards to give to my postal workers at my local post office which is actually a sub office because it is so small and I know the workers by name in fact I used to bowl with one of them.  So today live long and prosper.

Paper piecing fun

for the owl tag I paper pieced the cute owl for halloween.  glued him to a cut down tag I did some distress oxide coloring.

I decided to join in a challenge where the theme is paper piecing...mainly because I haven't done that technique in ages.  Paper piecing is a fun technique where you do just like the name of the technique...paper piece.  stamp an image onto pattern paper then cut out specific pieces of the image and glue them onto the stamp image.
I paper pieced this sweet girl's snowsuit, scarf and hat.  next I did some select color with my Prisma color pencils.  the background is some playing around with distress oxide ink pads. layered the paper pieced piece onto a white note card with the same pattern paper used for paper piecing.

this last card uses the same sweet girl but I used up the left over pieces from the other card.  the only paper piecing on this one is the coat, scarf and hat.  again did a little select prisma color pencil coloring.  check out her face...tried to make it a little blue with pink cheeks....she's been out in the snow a long time.  teeheeehee

another easel holiday card

stamps - Unity stamp co.
pattern papers - SU
Prisma color pencils
This year I am having fun making different style of easel cards and here is another center fold easel.  It is decorated with pattern papers and a fun ugly sweater stamp set which is colored in with Prisma color pencils, of course.  My favorite coloring medium.  I did a video that you can see on Sue Wisniewski - YouTube channel or in this post.
