Lots of texture

 Lots of texture

It's time for Jen Rzasa Tuesday Texture take over #altenewchallengelive .  For my card I used Altenew Woodland path bundle which is an embossing folder and stencil set.  Embossing folders add texture all on their own, but with set it has a stencil set to add color.  Besides color there is stickles glitter glue, and ribbon for more texture...along with foam tape on the back of the panel for more added texture.  Also on this card there is a strip of cardstock with enamel dots, and a saying that is also popped up with foam tape.

My tag uses Altenew Painted jellyfish stamp/die set.  First the tag has blended ink on it, next pattern papers that I cut waves, and glued onto the tag.  Mounted jellyfish with foam mounting tape.  Stamped sayings with black ink, next added enamel dots, and stickles glitter glue for more texture, and of course, sparkle.

MMM #8

 MMM #8

In case you don't remember what MMM stands for it is Mixed Media Morsels.  It's a Facebook group, where each month we alter a playing card.

You click on the photo to enlarge it.  This month the theme was childhood, so I found a clip art of Jiffy pop!  Do you remember Jiffy pop?  It was fun to watch it get bigger and bigger as you shook it over the fire.  Yes, I said fire because we had a gas stove.  The other things were use a punched hole or shape, I got out a ribbon punch I have had for years.  Other ideas were use a map, dots and music.  I found some tissue papers in my stash that work for the map, and music.  The dots are on the ribbon.  I had fun with this month's MMM.  Hope you like it, too.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back again soon.

can you take it?

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
supplies:  SU ribbons, candle
I know more soot stamping!  but I can't help myself ... once I get hooked on a technique I have to take it to it's limits.  I think this will be enough for now, because I need to finish up my Christmas cards.
For written instructions go to this post here ... for video go to this post or go to my you-tube channel .  I will be showing holiday or winter cards soon.  thanks for stopping by.

Paper piecing and more

stamp used:  Unity stamp co.
Stamped Unity Constance Angie girl with VersaFine black ink on white cardstock then stamped her again onto pattern paper and cut out sections or the whole image to paper piece it onto the stamped girl on the white cardstock.  Paper piecing is a simple and easy way to add color and patterns to an image.  add some twine or ribbon for extra dimension and I also did some spot coloring with my Prisma color pencils on one of the cards.  Oh yeah, did I forget to mention I made them into circle cards.  To do that just place circle die on a folded piece of cardstock.....what you do is place the circle die hanging off the folded edge just a little so when you die cut it, it stays a folded card just in the shape of a circle.

One more Thanksgiving wish

Here's another fun Thanksgiving card I made to wish:  pumpkin spice and everything nice!  I do like that fun owl with blue bird on his head for good luck but that saying is the best.  ☺

Half circles

I'm going to mix it up a bit today showing you two cards with the same technique but different themes.
The technique is partial die cut ... this is the name I'm giving this technique ... I'm sure there is some cute name out there in cyber land and if there is please leave me a comment and I'll change it.
On to this technique ... die cut a circle or any shape will work for this technique.  take the negative part of the die or the cut out section and place it on the side of your card with part of it hanging off the card.  This is also called a reverse mask.  add the color using whatever tool you have available ... this can be blending tool, sponges or stipple brushes.  for the next step you can leave the mask on and stamp some images as I did with the Egret (if this is not an Egret please leave a comment) card or you can remove the mask and stamp as on the holiday card.  the difference is that on the Egret card the Egret is hanging outside the colored area with the cattails are only inside the colored circle.  on the holiday card all images were stamped with the mask removed.

fun tag?

fun tag ... you tell me ... do you think this is a fun tag?  this tag is full of sprays, stencils, rub-ons, stamps and ribbon.  I got my hands all inky with this tag spraying ink all over it.
tip:  when I was a kid my father worked for a construction crew (Dan Deering co.-wow, can you believe I remember the name of the company), anyway he would come home full of dirt, grime and tar because he ran the big roller that flattened the tar...and the only thing that would clean his hands was a soap called LAVA.  I discovered that it is also great for getting inky/painted hands clean.
now back to my tag and what I did to it ..... I sprayed it with dylusion sprays, let that dry.  got out dylusion stencil (have a theme going here-dylusions) and sprayed through the stencil ... let that dry ... yes, a lot of drying time here.  added a rub-on in the bottom corner then stamped skeleton head and flowers.  highlighted with white pen ... did what I call faux bleaching that is where you paint with water and let it "bleach" out the color.  this only works with certain inks and sprays like dylusions products or distress products ... others may work you just need to experiment.  last I added ribbon ... first I threaded a piece of fiber through the hole ... next wrapped variegated ribbon around my hand which made loops ... took the wrapped ribbon placed it between the fiber threaded through the hole and tied a knot then separated the loops for a fun loopy bow.

fun with tags and more!

Check out these three tags that I water colored, added stencils and a couple of stamps.  I like the way they came out.  first I colored a 9 x 12 sheet of watercolor paper with Peerless water color strips that I've had in my stash for at least ten years and never used!  Found them recently so decided to USE IT!  basically I did a wash over the water color paper, let it dry.  next I spritzed it with Perfect Pearls mists, let that dry.  got out a geometric circle stencils and did the bump technique which is doing two colors but you "bump" (move it over a little) the stencil for the second color.  second stencil is a skyline and I really like it!  there is a solid image and an outline of the skyline which fits over the solid image perfectly!  added a little stamping and I'm done.

The sky's the limit!

Yes, the sky is the limit with this card....hot air balloon floating high in the air without a care in the world.  Made this a bright and cheery birthday card but can be used for any occasion you wish.  Even an anniversary card as it should have been for me today but I have another card for that occasion.  Besides having fun coloring with my Prisma color pencils I also did a fluffy seam binding bow which I feel adds to the cheeriness of this card.  I call this card a circle closure card but I'm sure there is a fancier name out there somewhere.  Well, I'm off to celebrate my anniversary today and see my brother, S-I-L and my adorable niece.

Cathy caffeine!

I'd like you all to meet AI's Cathy caffeine.  I met her a few weeks ago at a friends' house and just had to put her to paper only thing is I do NOT like coffee....not even the smell of it soooooo my Cathy is drinking Chia Tea.  Looks like she is enjoying it.  I hand wrote Chia tea on the cup after I colored both cards with ..... you know what is coming if you read my blog regularly......my Prisma color pencils......my favorite coloring medium.  I dabble with other color mediums but always go back to my Prisma color pencils and believe me they are well loved.  one day I'll take a picture of them so you can see...some of them are just stubs but I refuse to throw them out till I find the same color and lately that is becoming harder and harder to do.  Apparently the craft stores are leaning more towards the paints, sprays and gelatos now don't get me wrong I own some of them, too but just love the feel of coloring with my pencils and the way I can add all the colors of the rainbow and more.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
