I like to make cards and send bunches to family or friends.  These cards are a part of a group that are going to a family member who asked for some cards, and I'm happy to oblige.  I am a die heart stamper!  

For the butterfly cards I got out some old ink pads, that I haven't used for years!  AND they are still juicy and ink up well!  They are called Encore ink pads ... not even sure if they are still made but if they are and you see them ... pick up a few ... they are great metallic colors.

For the two big flowers they were stamped with black ink over a masked blended oval.  To create the blended oval I cut out a piece of masking paper, then laid it on white card.  Blend in the colors in the open section, then remove the masking paper to reveal the blended oval.  Next, I stamped the flower over the blended oval with black ink.

Cards for Background Check day 3 design break

The parakeet card is a suspension card....the parakeet is stamped on circle with clear thread taped to card so when you twist it up ..... then open the card it spins around.  this is one of the backgrounds from day 2 of Background Check class by Jennifer McGuire Ink.  A fun technique where you stamp an image with dye ink on glossy card...let dry....overstamp it with VersaMark...let it dry...color over all the stamping with darker dye ink.  clear as mud, right?
Second card has a masked off moon and horizon then blend distress ink with blending tool.  next over stamped with black ink and colored in the pirate ship with Prisma color pencils.

Here are some more backgrounds from the Background Check online class I'm doing this week.  the two samples on top are distress inks and a background stamp with VersaMark ink on top.  looks much better in person....the VersaMark ink soaks into the distress inks and has the effect of bleaching.  the sample on the bottom was supposed to be a baby wipe technique but mine were too dry so I ended up just spritzing water through the stencil for another faux bleaching effect.  next step for that one you are supposed to run it through Big Kick with the stencil for an embossing folder look...really need more practice top make that happen.

old truck for dad

Got out my dylusion sprays and a stencil for this tag.....went with brown and orange dylusion sprays.  in the left top corner is where I stencilled the sun with yellow and believe it or not distress seedless preserves.  on top of the squeezed lemonade it looks more of a reddish brown color.  added a fun orange glittered button for the center of the sun.  stamped the truck scene in brown then stamp it a second time on scrap cs, cut it out and sponged on some of the seedless preserves distress ink.

Green is good

Green is good in more ways than one....one way is it is the beginning of Spring and no more snow.  Or at least that is what I thought but my husband just told me the weather for later this week is SNOW!!!! can you believe it.  I finally jumped on the quick and easy watercolor band wagon...basically I wet watercolor paper added a stripe of distress peeled paint stain then a couple of the distress markers in green.  next got out my waterbrush and watered them down some more to make the graduated green background for the funky spring flowers.  for the chevron background I just inked with distress pads then spritzed with water and stamped it. I do like green!  also used a new product for me a Wink of Stella glitter pen.  I like it ...it adds shine and sparkle but not sure you can see it in photo but believe me it's there!

anything you want!  this is a card we did in my class this past week,  I just love to make witchy Halloween cards!  Isn't she witch-tastic!  unfortunately she is from a company (V.I.P.) that has long gone but I still think she is great.  this card has a masked out section that I sponged color, stamped the web (impression obsession cover a card) then remove the post it notes mask to reveal!  next stamp flying witch and color her with............I know you are tired of hearing about me saying..........my favorite coloring medium is........Prisma color pencils.......but it is.

I can get obsessed with something once I start so here is another card with alcohol ink background.

A beautiful train station image from Impression Obsession Rubber Stamps for their challenge.  I took the theme pack your bags to mean take a ride on the train so that is what I'm doing.....a train ride maybe to visit family or look out the window to see the fall colors.  Whatever reason you take a train it is relaxing to sit there and just ride and not have to worry about the traffic on the highways.

This card is what's shaking.....besides it being a shaker card it's an easel card so you are getting 2 for 1 here today.  For this card did some mult-stamping background and stamped in different color than black which is unusual for me so guess you can say I stepped out of my comfort zone.  remember you can click on pic to make it bigger.

It's the beginning of the week so it's sneak peek week at Mark's Finest Papers blog .  I'm starting off with one of our March new release sets called Garden Bunny with a little Kilt fun thrown in for fun.  this is what I like to call an open face card....stamped green peppers in the background of the base card...made a vellum pocket with a tag.  the background on the tag is the plaid stamp from Kilt Fun ....... next I used IO pennant dies.  next I did one of my favorite things lately...make my own banner but this time I made it longer than the tag so it hangs off then sides.

Sending love...or Winter Wonderland

a little early for Valentines then maybe an anniversary card or just a thinking of you winter card.  what do you think?  Both cards feature cover to cover Impression Obsession Rubber Stamps which I do like because you can stamp...use all of it or part of it as you can see with my card on the right.  My card with birch trees makes me think of a winter wonderland...the bare trees with the snow falling in the distance.  My chevron card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire  ...she has lots of good ideas that I have used in the past which I learned in a class she taught a couple of years ago. Also did one of my favorite technique cutting out a banner.  hope you enjoy these cards.
