GIU day 5 - Perfect Pearls with video

 Perfect Pearls

                     PP technique #1
all images by Unity stamp co. Vroom (car background) and Friendship                                                                                                       Blooms

It's my last day as GIU gal for the week.  It has been fun showing off Unity stamps with different techniques that I hope you found interesting.  Just a reminder to comment (with an email to be contacted) so you can be entered into drawing for a $20 gift certificate from Unity stamp co.
Today I played with an old product called Perfect Pearls pigment powders.  They have a binder in them, but I still like to set them with a Fixative that I spray on them outside. There will be a video at the end of this post but you can also go to my you tube channel to watch it, and more videos.

PP technique #1

Basic instructions:
Perfect Pearls technique #1
1.  ink up cardstock with clear embossing ink (any brand should work).
2.  add Perfect Pearls with a brush all over inked card.  tap off excess powder onto craft sheet to use for bonus background shown in video.
bonus backgrounds - watch video to see how this is done.

3.  ink up stamp with clear embossing ink and press into powdered card.  You can repeat stamp your image if you are using a stamp positioner but please remember to clean stamp each time before stamping.
Perfect Pearls technique #2
PP technique #2

1.  ink stamp with clear embossing ink and stamp on dark cardstock.
2.  add Perfect Pearls to inked image with a soft brush and pouncing technique.
3.  burnish Perfect Pearls into card with soft brush then buff with swifter cloth or any soft cloth.
tip:  both techniques should be set with a spray of Fixative.  spray outside or in a well ventilated area.

You can see more on Perfect Pearls here.  If you want to see more samples using Perfect Pearls I've done, just type Perfect Pearls in the search box on my sidebar.

Thank you for visiting my blog this week and please come back again soon.  Don't forget to comment to be included in drawing for Unity gift certificate.  Please include an email to contact when commenting for the Unity gift certificate.  Winners will be announced soon.

Perfect pearl flowers

The technique I did on these cards are from an idea at Jennifer McGuire's blog.  It is an easy technique but very dramatic!
Altenew  layering flower stamps work well for this technique, but I'm sure you could do it with any other stamps you have in your stash.

Basic instructions:
1.  stamp the solid layer with VersaMark ink on dark cardstock.  Here I used purple and grey cardstock.
2.  brush stamped image with Ranger Perfect Pearls pigment powders.  buff off any excess powder with a soft tissue.
3.  stamp next layer with VersaMark ink.  this step will remove some of the PP from the first stamping.
4.  stamp the last layer with black ink.

Here are some more cards I created with this technique ... as you can see I couldn't stop making cards.

Try out this technique ... you won't be able to stop, either.
Thanks for stopping by.  come back again soon.

Floral layers

stamps used:  Unity stamp co.
The main image for this card is using Floral Tapestry and die borders from MFT.  I also got out my embossing powders and perfect pearls ... haven't used either of those products in a long time.
Basic instructions:
1.  cut black cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4".  Stamp Floral Tapestry big background image with VersaMark ink.  After using VersaMark ink you can either sprinkle on embossing powder, in this case the gold and purple cards, or dust on perfect pearls with a dry fluffy brush.
2.  For the embossed cards use a heat tool to embossed.  For the perfect pearl cards buff with a soft tissue or brush to remove excess.
3.  die cut all the cards with MFT border dies then adhere to white or cream note cards.  stamp sayings with black ink.
4.  add ribbon if desired and you are done.
Thank you for stopping by and come back soon.  go to my sidebar to add your email to follow by email so you don't miss any of my posts.  Remember comments are always welcome.

Perfect pearl flowers

stamps used:  Altenew Remember This stamp set
ink used:  VersaMark
supplies:  Ranger Perfect Pearls and liquid pearls
pattern papers
This is an old technique with a twist.  first stamp with VersaMark ink, dust with perfect pearls then stamp over with VersaMark ink to remove some of the perfect pearls.  you get this beautiful shimmery colored flowers ... oh yes, I stamped on colored cardstocks and believe it or not my favorite is not the black or dark brown but the kraft!  the shimmery perfect pearl on it is beautiful now on the other two I used the gold and silver perfect pearls which are beautiful but the kraft just make me happy this time.  for more details on this technique you can visit Jennifer McGuire  blog. to finish off my cards I did what I like to call crooked cards which is just a matter of layering the stamped piece on colored cardstock then laying on note card and cutting off the excess. add some dots with liquid pearls...a tip is to add the dots of liquid pearls then tap the underside of the cardstock to round the dots.  have fun trying this technique and please show me what you create.

Butterfly kisses

Today is the last day of July but by no means does that mean the summer is over.  Still lots of butterflies flying around in all their glory.  This stamped butterfly is colorful with all the colors of Perfect Pearls.  Stamped butterfly with VersaMark ink onto brown cardstock then dusted it with Perfect Pearls.  After dusting the butterfly I buffed it with a tissue to burnish in all the Perfect Pearls then spritz it with water to settle it in even more.  Add some self sticking pearls to make a flying trail.
Please go to Just For Fun blog for all the stamp details.

Gotta love old cars

Two more cards with '57 chevy.  the grey card on the left was stamped and embossed then colored in with Ranger Perfect Pearls paint and color pencils.  the blue card on the right was also stamped and embossed then painted with pp with the added gems to resemble the road...o.k. I'm stretching it a bit for the road but it's stamping with embellishments.  to make pp paints all you do is mix a little water with the pp.

50's people

Still have my Ranger Perfect Pearls out on my table so why not use them.  the colors on this card may or may not be 50's but the stamps are!  just had fun using different colors of Perfect Pearls on my card after I stamped the image with VersaMark ink.  the VersaMark ink is sticky so it holds the Perfect Pearls which also have a binder built into them but to make the pp stick even more all you need to do is spritz with a little water.

Tagging

Still making tags.  on these two tags I got out my VersaMark ink pad and Perfect Pearls.  Haven't done this technique in years ... it was fun to do this again.  These tags also fit the bill for JFF 50's flashback challenge so if you haven't joined, yet ... go for it!  you never know you might even win a prize.  all stamps on my tags are from Just For Fun stamps.

Background Sketchbook - perfect pearls

The best part about Ranger Perfect Pearls is they have a binding agent in them so you don't have to add anything to them to get them to adhere to your project.....in fact you can just spray some water sprinkle on PP and they will stick!  On this page in my Background Sketchbook is a simple way to add color to a stamped image with PP.  All you have to do is ink up your image with VersaMark ink, stamp it then sprinkle on different colors of PP....with a soft brush you will more or less burnish in the PP colors then with a tissue buff your piece to remove any excess PP left on the cardstock.  easy as that!

It's June that means I'm a year older, the weather is warming up! and it's blog
hop time.  This month my theme is mainly heat embossing with some vellum and Perfect Pearls thrown in for more shimmer and shine.  First up for Please Snow is a simple embossed tag with some Perfect Pearls water coloring.  On my card and tag it's all embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder which is my new favorite embossing powder.  It's just a beautiful creamy silvery gold color.  On my card the trees are stamped with VersaMark ink then dusted with Perfect Pearls and a little glitter snow added for extra shine.
