Wolf and Snow moons

 Wolf and Snow Full moons

stamps used:  LIWP, Rubbermoon

Here is my Wolf full moon postcard for my local swap I am participating.  For the background on this postcard I did a northern lights style background.  You see more examples here, here, and here. It can be an addictive background technique and it comes out different every time.

Snow Full moon

stamps used:  various companies
Did a little masking with the Snow full moon.  Basically I stamped the big snowflake with the face, then masked her with a post it note I stamped her on.  Next I blended a few colors of ink then with the mask still in place I stamped some snowflakes only on the center inky band.  Needless to say it is called the snow moon because it snows a lot in February.

Thank you for stopping by.  come back again soon.

Pretty northern lights

Earlier in the month I showed you all the fun a couple of friends and I had
doing the northern lights technique (search online for complete instructions) and said I would show my finished cards.  Well, today is the day to see a few of my finished cards.  I wanted the star of the show to be the technique so I kept the cards simple.  I sent out a few of them to friends who weren't able to attend our stamp meeting.  The one on the left with the trees was sent to our friend who is home with a fractured foot.  I did a little more black on this one then normal and I liked it.  The one on the right with the girl on the funky fish flyer went to our friend who was home sick.  With this cold, warm, snowy and rainy
weather lately it's no wonder everyone isn't down with cold/flu.  Snowflake lady went off to our friend who was home with the plumber the day of our meeting.  If it's not the weather then it's our house that keeps us from our fun of stamping.  Leslie likes all things snow so she got this serene looking snowflake lady but I did her in greens because I like things green in stamping.  More to come soon.

Northern Lights with friends

Went to friends' house earlier this week for our monthly stamp club
unfortunately a few of our members couldn't attend because of sickness or house repairs.  Needless to say that took us down to three of us but we had fun doing the new fad called Northern Lights.  It's an inky technique with dramatic results.  The first time I did this by myself I was very sparing with the black ink but after doing it now several times I like it with more black ink coverage.  You can find this technique all over the web by just doing a search.  Click on pics to have a bigger look.  These are all just circles or quarter card size...not yet made into cards.  I will post my finished cards next week.
Roberta went to town with this technique and did a great job.  I knew
she would because she likes to add layers of inks and layers of stamps.  She did one really dark one (see left) that I really liked.

Susan's are beautiful and full of that extra little touch of color.  She surprised me because I didn't think she would be so into this technique but she was and look at her wonderful results.

Our next meeting in February will be our Valentine luncheon hosted by our friend Leslie.  There was some talk of continuing the Northern Lights technique for our March meeting so the rest of our clubbers can have fun getting inky.  We'll see.

Silent Night or the night before Christmas

Had fun making these cards (might have shown them earlier this month)  doing the Northern Lights technique.  It's a fun technique I found online and am going to demo it with friends at our stamp club in a few weeks.  can't wait!  it will be fun to get inky with stamping buds!

Holiday challenges are going on this week so I decided to add my card to the mix.  I did the northern lights technique which is fun and easy as long as you just go for it and don't think about it.  I used five distress ink colors and distress black soot ink.

Chilly night Northern Lights

I saw this Northern Lights technique months ago but thought .... no, not for me.  Well, after seeing it pop up more and more I decided why not jump on the band wagon and try it out...........so I did.......I like it and can't get enough of it.  There is a tutorial over on Splitcoaststampers here that will show you how to create this look.  Here are two cards I made but I did make a dozen Christmas cards with this technique but won't show them, yet so they will be a surprise when I send them.  You use five colors of ink with a black ink for the northern lights which seems like a lot of colors and I thought .... how am I going to fit all those colors but they do work!  even the black over all the colors which really surprised and impressed me.  I do think I will be making more of these cards maybe for my birthday stash, time will tell.
