Fly away with Mary Poppins/video

 Fly away with Mary Poppins

Actually in my card Mary Poppins is sliding away on my ribbon slider card.

stamps/supplies:  MFP saying Up, up..., Sizzix TH The Park die set

I'm call this character Mary Poppins but, I guess, legally you can't name these dies because she is licensed by Disney.  The die set is called The Park but she does make you think of Mary Poppins.  Anyways I made an old favorite moving card that is a Ribbon Slider card.

Instructions:

 1.  Make any size card that works for you with a layer for the sliding character.

2. Cut 2 parallel lines 1/4" to 1/2" apart for the moving mechanism on the layer that will have the character. Make
the length of cut to accommodate your card.
3. Cut ribbon twice the size of your card. Cut strip of cardstock to wrap,
and tape ribbon that will slide back & forth on your card.  The ribbon gets tape to the sliding strip only. Make 2
more strip wraps, and tape each one on ends of parallel lines with ribbon
threaded through but do not tape ribbon to strips. These will be end
stoppers.

4. Tape cardstock with sliding mechanism that you stamped scene to base
card.  On this card I cut out a cloud template to create the background.
5. Use mounting tape to attach your image on movable strip which will go
around parallel lines.
6. Pull your ribbon and see what happens!
Here's a short video I did a few years ago showing how the ribbon slider works.
Another basic card with same The Park die set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back again soon.

Floating in a Hot air balloon

Remember days past when we made slider cards with a kraft knife and ribbon......well, that is what I did today.  Had a lot of fun with this blast from the past style card that I made several for my stash of cards.  I have to admit I don't like working with kraft knife only because I always end up cutting myself so I got out my personal trimmer and used that to cut the sliding mechanism and it worked great.  Please visit Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog for stamp details.
Thinking of doing a video.....do you want me, to?  leave me a comment if you do.

Classic!

Here is a fun ribbon slider birthday card I made for a friend's husband.  He really likes old cars and has even restored a few so this was a good choice for him.
You can see tutorials for ribbon slider card I've done here, here and here.

It's a new month so that means new stamp releases!
To start off I will tell you my theme for this month................spinners, ribbon sliders, and ribbon message pull cards so this month you will see cards that spin, slide and pull!  What a scream is right!  don't know why I used a crazy color as I did for this ghost but it was fun.  It's actually left over polished stone technique cardstock I had left from another project you will see later in the month.  Oh yeah, this is a ribbon slider card.  You can see tutorial here or here on Speedy TV.  My second card is a penny spinner....these cards are easy to make and so much fun to make spin...you can see one in action on Patty's blog here she is another of our wonderful team members.  It's time to check out Janine's blog to see her spooktakoolar creations.

Ribbon slider card

I'm featured design team member this week at Speedy TV tutorial .
Ribbon Slider
Here is a ribbon slider card which takes a cut out image and flies it across your card.  This mechanical card has been around for years and is still a crowd pleaser.  I hope you enjoy this card as much as I do.
Stamps:
Mark’s Finest Papers and stamps, A Heinrich Co. – Wild Horses (2012), Wings (2013)

Supplies:
1/8” ribbon
Vellum
Foam dots
Mini glue dots
Personal cutting tool
3” scallop paper punch
Inks:
Ranger Adirondack stonewashed
StazOn jet black

Instructions:

1.  Score and fold 10” x 7” cardstock in half to create base card.  On piece of cardstock 6 ¾ “ x 4 ¾ “ stamp scene which will be layered on base card later.

2.  On piece of white cardstock stamp horse.  Do a little watercolor with gray ink on horse and then cut out.  Set aside while you stamp wings with StazOn jet black ink on vellum.  Allow a minute to dry then flip over and sponge on a little of the stonewash ink.  Cut out vellum wings and with a mini glue dot on the bottom of each wing tape it to the horse.  Set aside till ready to assemble.

3.  With 3” scallop paper punch, punch out two scallop circles.  Tape these two scallops together to be used as cloud template.  Place cloud template on 6 ¾ “ x 4 ¾ “ cardstock and sponge stonewash ink all over card.  Stamp mountain scene in the bottom corner with gray ink.

4.  On stamped 6 ¾ “ x 4 ¾ “ card cut 2 parallel lines ¼ “ apart with personal trimmer. Make the length of cut about a ½ “ from each side.  This will create rails for your image to slide across your card.

5.  Cut one strip of cardstock to wrap and tape around a piece ribbon that will slide back & forth on your card.  The ribbon should be twice the size of your card.

6.  Cut two more strips of cardstock and tape each one on the ends of parallel lines with ribbon threaded through but do not tape ribbon to end stoppers.  These will be end stoppers on the back of stamped layer.  The ribbon is just placed inside the end stoppers so the ribbon can be pulled across card to make flying horse fly.

7.  With foam dot mount flying horse to front of stamped layer on the sliding stopper.

8.  Stamp saying with black ink on bottom left side of stamped card.

9.  Put foam dots on the back of stamped card and mount to base card.

10.  Pull ribbon and flying horse soar across your card!

Here is the completed card.
