New week - new day - new card!

Here is a card with a technique I bet you forgot about......soot stamping!  haven't done this in many many years.  For complete instructions on soot stamping click here for written tutorial with pictures.

Main thing to do or I should say is do not burn the house down!  LOL!  I didn't, yeah.  This is soot stamping with a twist of color.  First go find some glossy cardstock.....yes find it.....another thing I don't use much but I found an unopened package of it!  you never know what you will find when you go looking.  Picked up one of those long lighters at the dollar store and it worked great! In years past I we did it with candles with wax dripping all over my hand....burning it.  Invest in this $1 item and save your hands.  Burn glossy cardstock.  Don't really burn the cardstock just the coating off the card.  It leaves black cloudy swirls all over the cardstock...perfect, I thought for a train.  Next stamp clean stamp into the soot on the card which will reveal a ghost like image.  Too cool!  what I like to do next is take it outside and spray it with Fixative.  This pretty much sets the soot so it doesn't rub off.  Let it dry then I blended on some color with my Ranger Distress inks and blending tool.  Gave it another spray with Fixative and now ready to add embellishments.  Punched out EK Success border (don't know the name-threw out pkg.) with black cardstock and did some stitching through the holes with brown embroidery thread - whatcha think?  look like railroad tracks? maybe?  Stamp saying with Archival jet black ink, zap with heat tool to dry.  Layer onto pale purple card then purple note card.  Inside stamp second half of saying, "Let's pray it's not a train!" and another train image on same pale purple cs and tape to inside of card.

Clever creation! I love the soot technique, and don't use it as often as I'd like. I better pull out my train images! Thanks for sharing with us at Card Crafter's Circle!
