Colorful Cockatoo

COLORFUL COCKATOO
January 2009
by Sue Wisniewski, SI Design team member
stamps:
Parrot – Sunday International Vertical Inspiration Birds of Paradise #POSH-81
inks:
Posh Impressions Rainbow Floral Brights sponge & inks
Kaleidacolor Birthstone rainbow dye ink pad
supplies:
glossy & matte cardstocks
double stick tape
Krylon gold leafing pen
ribbon
small spray bottle with water

Compressed sponge technique
Compressed sponges are fun to use to create unique backgrounds.
Squirt on Hot Pink, Yellow & Blue inks from Posh Impressions Rainbow Floral Brights ink set. Just a few drops from each color goes a long way to creating several sheets of background papers.
Spritz the sponge with water then place one edge of sponge on glossy cardstock and give the sponge a quick twist. This twisting motion will create the bow tie effect that I created for this background.
Repeat this twisting method randomly over cardstock. Remember to overlap some of the bow ties and re-spritzing the sponge to regenerate the ink. The more water used the lighter the colors.
Set aside till ready to assemble card.
Ink up Cockatoo with Kaleidacolor Birthstone ink pad and print onto white cardstock.
Cut to size then run Krylon gold leafing pen along the edge.
Layer Cockatoo onto lavender & black cardstock approximately 1/8” larger.
Wrap ribbon around stamped Cockatoo and tie a bow.
Wrap the same ribbon around bow tie background piece but do not tie a bow.
Adhere Cockatoo with double stick tape to ribbon wrapped bow tie background. Layer this onto black cardstock and lavender card.
