Ice skating

 Ice skating

This week #altenewchallengelive for Jen Rzasa Tuesday challenge them is Time travel.  We are allowed to use our own imagination so I went back in time when I was a child.  Remember when you were a kid, and you had to walk to the pond ... in my case Mill pond to go ice skating.

supplies used:  Altenew winter ice skate die set and Pond flowers die set

I kept these ice skates simple because that is what mine looked like all those years ago.  I added some brown ink and marks at the toes to show scuffing just like my skates.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

no more snow!

die cuts from SU swirly bird set.
stamped hat/scarf stamped at a friend's house so don't know the company.
background is an embossing folder

Here is a fun snowman card.  Hopefully we have had our last snowfall for the year!!!  As my friends know I'm not a winter person and always say I would have been happy if my parents emigrated to the south instead of here on the northeast.....but it is what it is and here I am sitting through ...... like I said ... hopefully the last snowfall of the year.

Balloons!

Happy Birthday!  saying Happy Birthday out loud makes me think of Frosty the snowman and it is a good time to think of him because it's that time of year. The snow is fun to look at outside our windows especially when you don't have to go out. This is a simple card done with balloon die and ribbon.
Please go to Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog for more details.  thank you!

Spring or not

here's a picture this morning and then this afternoon.  I sure hope this is the end of all this snow this year.....like I've said before.....enough is enough!  although don't mind it when it starts to melts in the afternoon.  I'm really ready for spring....how about you?

Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow!

That's the word for the week....SNOW!  it snowed yesterday, will snow again on Wednesday and this weekend. I wish Mother Nature would have thrown her weather tantrum last week instead of this week because she just might spoil my plans for this coming Monday with friends! we have our annual Valentine luncheon shedualed for Monday and I know none of us want to miss it besides the fact our hostess Leslie always goes all out to spoil us.  We also have a card swap between us all.  You can look  here and here to see some pics from past years.  It would be a shame to miss out this year just because of snow.

My postal carrier started down our street around 4:30 in the afternoon yesterday but she didn't make it because our street wasn't plowed, yet.  Unfortunately she stopped to fill our mailboxes (there are 4 in front of our house) and she got stuck in the snow so she naturally she gave her jeep the gas and did a 360 spin.  That ended her delivering the mail to the rest of the street.  Can you believe that our postal service doesn't have 4 wheel drive in their jeeps!  especially here in the northeast with our snow.  Legally I don't think any postal carrier has to deliver mail if it isn't plowed so I give her thumbs up for trying.  We did finally get plowed around 7 p.m.  Guess that's it for today's snow saga.  keep warm.

Snow and Ice!

Our first snow and ice for the season.  Check out that icicle and all the ice on our holly bush that has the Christmas lights.  Look at the tire on our car!!!  all iced in!  only good thing about all this ice and snow is that it hit 33 degrees today so it has started to melt.  I would say we got about 3 inches of snow....not too bad for around here in the northeast.  keep warm.

still diggin out

Did I mention the other day that we got a little over 3 feet of snow!  well, we did.  That's my 6'1" son shoveling snow out of our driveway unfortunately it is too much for our little snow blower.  Our mayor says the major roadways are cleared but secondary roads (like us) should be plowed out by Monday night which is tonight.  I'm hoping but in honesty don't think we will be plowed out till tomorrow so if we do get plowed today I will be overjoyed.  See those long icicles hanging off our house...they are pretty just stay out of the way when they fall.  The last picture is me taking a picture with my camera on close-up to get my neighbor's trash can.  Our trash pick up is on Friday and they went away for the weekend so their can got covered up to lid in snow.  They were surprised when they got home on Sunday afternoon!  They had to walk trudge down our street carrying their luggage....needless to say they couldn't drive their car here .... wonder where they left it?  guess after we get plowed I can ask.    I will say I am thankful we have power! well, enough of this white stuff...my next post will be back to what I love....STAMPING! stay safe and warm!

Find "Waldo" in the snow!

Remember the books where you had to find Waldo.....well that's how I feel about our car this morning.  The picture on the left is our car in our driveway at 11 p.m. last night.  Our car in the same spot this morning around 6 a.m.  Our newscaster is saying our little city got 38" of snow but that is an unofficial account.  The governor closed the roads!  good thing we went to the grocery store on Thursday to get the basics.   Time for another cup of tea then guess will go outside a little later and help my husband dig out our car.  Keep warm everyone!

Have plans to meet a friend but who knows if I'll get dug out or even if our small dead end street will be plowed.

This was last week's snow storm ......  do you see him?  This little squirrel didn't know he was going to be almost lost when he hopped out of the tree.  We got more snow last night and this morning.

Winter Wonderland ----NOT! ---- scroll to bottom for extra info!

I'm not a snow person but I will admit since I don't have to go out it's not too bad.  I'm more of a spring or fall person.

The tree in my neighbor's yard looks pretty in this photo but when I took the picture it was snowing with high winds ......... speaking of winds it just blew and scared me.
The storm is pretty much done now except for the winds and the bitter cold but it New England.   We got up to 15" of snow depending where you stand. I guess you can call it a Winter Wonderland I'm just not a fan of the winter.  At least I don't have any little ones so don't have to go out and build snowmen anymore.....that's a plus.

Another snow storm

Yes, more snow this month.  Take a look at our winter wonderland.  It's nice when you can stay home but if I had to go out in the snow storm then it wouldn't be a winter wonderland.  At least the trees look pretty with all the snow on them.

Here are a couple of pictures of our "winter wonderland".  Of course anyone who knows me, knows I'm not a winter person but it is pretty if you can stay indoors and enjoy it.

First Snow December 2009

Here in Connecticut we had some SNOW! and if you know me you know I don't like the "S" word!  but living in New England you can't get away with it.  The top picture is a Holly bush that came from my brother's yard in Virginia.  We took a clipping and never thought it would grow here in the winter but it has flourish now for going on three years!
Center picture is from my front yard and our neighbor across the street.  We live on a little dead end street.

Here is a picture of bird bath in our front yard.  No bathing here.  lol!

enjoy!
