I just can't get enough of this style card.

stamps/dies used:  Altenew Dancing Poppies stamp/die set

Blue Poppies

measurements/instructions:

base card:  5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

Open card and cut four 1/2" strips. This will leave 2" for the top of the front of the card.  On scrap piece of white cut out two more 1/2" strips ... these will be for what I call the fence posts.  Close card and assemble the four 1/2" strips on the card. 

Add the two fence post to the sides with dots of glue on the horizonal strips.  Decorate with the die cut blue dancing poppies.

Orange Poppies

Repeat the above instructions for orange poppy card except this time, I cut out three 1" strips for the trellis.

The first style of the Trellis card I will be showing is an uneven Trellis card.

stamps/dies used:  SU Painted poppies, Dragonfly dreams, Forever ferns

Uneven Trellis card measurements/instructions:

base card: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

Open card and cut four 1" wide strips.  From a scrap of white cut two 1/4" strips.  Next trim A2 card 1/4" off one side.  Close the card and assemble the 1" strips to match up at the bottom.

Add the two 1/4" strips to the sides of the card with dots of glue on the 1" strips.  Adhere a folded text weight paper card inside the card. Just make it the same width and length of the card.  Decorate with die cut poppies, dragonflies or leaves.

Horizonal A2 trellis card

Open card and cut three 3/4" strips.  Cut two 1/2" strips for what I call the fence posts.  Use the same basic instructions as above.

Big Trellis cards

Still making trellis cards! only now I'm making BIG 5"x7" trellis cards!

Vertical and horizontal cards.

basic instructions:

base card: 5"x7" (folded)

Strips can be cut in any size.  Here I did 3/4" strips cut off the front of the card.  You will need two thinner strips for the vertical fence posts.

Line up one of the strips on the washi tape even with the bottom of the card.  Next evenly space the rest of the strips up the card. Add a dot of glue on each of the strips, adhere the thinner two strips to create the fence posts.  Now all there is to do is decorate the card with poppies, and leaves.  Add some self sticking gems for sparkle to finish the card.  The one extra thing I did with my cards is to add a folded paper text weight "card" inside my trellis card.  This made it, so I could stamp/write message inside the card without it showing through the strips. 

If you look close at the photos of the cards, you can see the folded paper card with splats stamped on it.

 Dancing Poppies criss cross trellis cards

The trellis style cards have been showing up all over the internet, lately.  At first, I wasn't sure if this style card was for me, until I made one!  They are fun to make, and very unique.  The cards I'm showing today are called the Criss cross trellis cards.  Oh yes, did I mention these cards I'm featuring today are 5 x 7 cards!  Not my normal size card size but as I said ..... fun to make!

 

Instructions:

Cut two 5" x 7" white card panels.

Cut six 1/2" wide strips.  These are going to be the trellis.

Place three of the 1/2" strips on one of the 5" x 7" panels.  Make sure the strips are longer than the 5" x 7" card.  Hold the three strips to the card panel with low tack tape.  Fold over the excess strips to the top back of the card panel.  Tape to the back of the card panel.

Here's a look at criss cross strips on 5x7 card panel.

Place three more 1/2" strips diagonally over the set of 1/2" strips.  Again hold in place with low tack tape.  Glue the top 1/2" strips to the 1/2" strips that are adhered to the back of card panel. Only glue where the strips touch.  After the strips have dried...hold the card closed, and cut off any excess strips.  You want the trellis strips to be the same length of the 5" x 7" card panel.

Tape the second 5" x 7" card panel to the back of the first card panel with the trellis strips.  This serve two purposes ... 1. to hide the taped strips on the back of the panel.  2. to make the folded card.  Last decorate the front of the trellis strips.
