On the Blackboard

 On the Blackboard

stamped used:  Altenew stamp co. Tea for two

This card was done for my local card swap, which we do monthly.  But I'm behind in showing my cards here on my blog.  This was done for the month we did technique as the theme.  Mostly you use black cardstock to represent a blackboard, but I find it fun to change it up and use other color cardstocks for a little different effect. This technique is also called chalkboard technique but whatever you call it ... it is a unique technique. In the above picture you can see I used black, tan, and dark blue cardstocks.
The idea behind this technique is for the image to look as if it has been drawn on a blackboard.  I used black cardstock then stamped the teapot with a clear embossing ink pad, heat emboss it with white embossing powder.  Next smudge on some white pigment ink with a sponge dauber.  I find the sponge dauber works better than blending brushes for this technique.  Then just embellish however you like to finish the card.
You can see more on this post and if you type blackboard or chalkboard in search bar you can see even more on this technique.
Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Metal - chalkboard tag

Had fun creating this tag because I got out that roll of silver sticky back tape I've had for at least a couple of years.  You know it was one of those things that I just had to have because someone was doing wonderful techniques with it then it faded out.
This tag is a big one that I had laying out on my table so ... why not use it!  Stuck strips of the silver tape on top and bottom of tag then ran it thru Big Kick with embossing folder.  Next got out black soot distress paint dabber and went to town distressing it or as Tim Holtz calls it industrious metal technique.  After that ripped piece of black cardstock and stamped with white pigment ink for the chalkboard effect.  Fun to bring back old techniques.

chalk it up tags

The only way I get the tag done from Tim's blog  is if I do it just as I read it from his blog so that's what I did
this morning.  Of course I had to improvise on some of the products since I don't have
the resources as he does but I think it's not bad, even if I say so myself.  I made two for the price of one, as long as I had the stuff out and was getting inky and full of glitter.  I used one of TH's stencils on the regular size tag and one the dylusions stencils for the stubby tag but I do have the red Distress glitter.  I do like the chalkboard technique so had fun with that, but did it with white embossing powder and real chalk for chalk dust.  The arrows and heart borders on the tags are done with metallic tape...they are silver but don't show up silver in scan but believe me they are silver.

It's Sunday!

Here are a couple cards that I made weeks ago and forgot to show so better late than never as the saying goes.  The lucky you card is the chalkboard technique on red cardstock just for fun.  the thinking of you card is just stripes of sponged colors then over-stamped with black ink.  Hard to see but the saying is on black sparkle cardstock I picked up at craft store.  It looks like a beautiful sunshine day outside but a bit cold here in the northeast.  enjoy your day!

E=mc^2

Hey, I'm getting scientific....not really.  Just going to show you a card I made with Einstein on it and the e=mc^2 on it plus philosophy saying that makes you think.  Did the fun chalkboard technique on this card and added some color by painting on Judi-Kins Mica gloss.

It's a fun and easy technique.  So let's get started....get out your chalk............nope..........get out your white inks.  I prefer to use
my VersaMagic white chalk ink for the powdered chalk effect on my cards but for the actual stamping I like Colorbox white pigment ink and white embossing powder.  Over to the left is my black and yellow card with some wide striped yellow-white ribbon.  did some masking so the fish would be swimming in front of the bamboo reeds.  Last card on this hop is the fancy gold fish bowl.  I added the banners to give my card some dimension.  Hope you enjoy the hop this month and found some inspiration along the way.

chalkboard writings

The trend right now is the chalkboard technique which I have to admit is a fun and effective technique.  what you do is stamp and emboss with white on black cardstock then smudge some white ink over the card to represent chalk dust.  Easy!  for me I find that the white pigment ink leave too much "chalk dust" so I use VersaMagic cloud white chalk ink pad for my dusting.  Next I tried add some color to my globe with mica inks and it worked.  did some green and blue to represent land and sea.  remember you can click on pic to enlarge
