A couple of weeks ago we went to Strasburg, PA. We went for two reasons ..... first because my S-I-L wanted to go and second it was a good halfway point between our homes.  What's in Strasburg, PA you ask well I'll tell you first lots and lots of corn fields as far as the eye can see then a giant flea market on 30 acres....called the Green Dragon and believe me when I tell you there is everything there from bear traps to vegetables!!! Look at that top photo...that's my hubby's back walking in front of me and if you click on journal pages you will see my brother and his family.  One other important fact is this flea market is only open on FRIDAYS so if you come on a Saturday, Sunday or any other day of the week you are out of luck.  We stayed about half an hour away from the flea market which is in Epharta, PA.  Oh yes, another thing you see are horse drawn carriages on the road right there with you and your horseless drawn carriages!  that always amazes me that there are still communities that don't bother with all the machines that I'm sure I couldn't live without.  If you like flea markets then I would say take a ride and go...it's an experience you will not forget.

more journal fun

I finally decorated the front of my vacation journal I started back in June.  well, we are going on a weekend trip this weekend .....actually will be away when this is posted...isn't technology something!  we are at a BIG flea market that is on 30 acres.  from the website there is a lot outside and some inside so it should be fun.  will tell more when we get home and show the pages I do while away.

Home again with more pics

Back this morning with more photos from Washington D.C. at the museums. 
Over on the left is dino head statue/sculpture in front of museum and to the right is the front of a plane just hanging out of the wall. 

All the planes in the museum are fabulous! Check out the skeleton of a this turtle hanging on the wall in front of a great mural.  In the museum don't forget to look up because there are lots of things hanging from the ceiling. Enough for now.  I'll post pictures from zoo another day.  tomorrow will get back to showing you stamping. 

Home again...home again!

Yeah, we are back home!  it's always fun to go away for a week but it is good to return home.  We met up with my brother and his family in Washington D.C.  we lucked out with the weather....it was beautiful.  did a lot of

walking!!!!!! visiting all the museums from 10 a.m. in the
morning till 6 p.m. on wednesday!  There is everybody (except me-I'm taking picture) in front of capitol.  Next picture is a metal tree!!! yes, it's metal, too cool!  Over to the left is our budding photographer! she loves to take photos mostly of flowers and believe it or not turtles...she really likes turtles.  On the right is a far off photo of Washington monument...can't see it in this photo but there are men on the top working on it...you wouldn't catch me that high on the outside of anything.  lol! 

 Check out Dorothy's shoes to the left and to the right the Spirit of St. Louis plane.

Finger Lakes & Erie Canal

Last week we (me and my husband) were away on a little getaway starting off by staying overnight in the Finger Lakes area of NY.  If you look at the photo on the left you will see the only view we saw of any lakes in the Finger Lake area of NY.  We drove around for hours trying to find the lakes and this was all we found even though at the hotel when I asked where all the lakes were......I was told they are all over here.  We left and met up with my brother and his family in Buffalo area.  While we were trying to find the lakes my brother and his family went and found the Erie Canal!  they said it was a lot of fun and very informative.  Seems they had a more productive day then us.  lol!

Been visiting my father in N. Tonawanda (Buffalo) , N.Y. for the past 5 years since he moved there and always saw a sign about a Carrousel museum but never thought much about it.....until this year because my S-I-L (see pic) wanted to check it out.  Sooooooooooo we did.  It is a very small museum but the carrousel is cool.  It is in a red building .... want to say a barn but not really..... so let's just say a red building.  Kimberly took a ride but she was more excited to talk to the woman controlling the ride.  The woman was so impressed with this young girl asking questions she took her over to the mechanics of the ride and explained it to her.  After the that we left and took our father out to dinner. 

Back from Buffalo

Did you miss me?  did you know I was gone?  probably not because I scheduled posts while I was away visiting with family in Buffalo actually N. Tonawanda, NY.  Just easier to tell everyone Buffalo which is only about a half hour away in one direction and Niagara Falls in the other.  It always blows my mind that the Canada border is only half hour away from where my father lives now.  We had a good visit and we went on the Maid of the Mist at the Falls....fun time but boy do you get wet! 

Before my husband and I got to my fathers' we stayed over night (at finger lakes about 3 hrs. away) just for a rest since it is such a long drive for us to get to Buffalo.  Check out this table at the hotel we stayed at.......cool, huh?  I thought so and I bet a friend of mine will, too.  I will have to email her the other pics we took of it.  Well, that's it for now.  be back soon.

Weekend happenings

This past weekend was very nice because got to go to a stamp convention in Rhinebeck, NY.  It's a small one but did find 2 out of 3 things I was looking for .....one being a set of the new Ranger Ink seasonal Distress ink pads and Tim Holtz reflections stamp set so that made the two hour ride there worth it.  I also got to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in weeks that is always a good thing.  Took a couple of pictures at Stampers Anonymous booth of Studio 490-wendy vecchi samples.  I like her style especially the vintage feel and color.  Spent about an hour there then said good bye to my friend. 

Then my husband and I continued on to drive to Amish country in PA. which took over three hours.  We didn't think it would be that far away so needless to say we stayed over night.  It is such pretty country there and the feel of old days seeing all the farms.  The horse and buggies driving down the road with the cars is such a surreal feeling.  The weather was just beautiful...cool and clear.  The only bad thing was by the time we got there it was around supper time and we were tired from all the driving so we stayed in and planned to go to all the shops and things next day.  Good plan but it was sunday and most all the shops had signs saying: no sunday sales.  I was disappointed because I had wanted to maybe pick up an Amish quilt but we did find the Intercourse Canning Company (yes, that's the name of the store) open so we bought jars of jam, pickled beets and vanilla peaches....yum!  I'm sure you have guessed by now it was named Intercourse because it is in Intercourse, PA.  Good store with lots of jams, pickled eggs and more to try while you walk around the store.  All in all a good weekend.

Mount Equinox

 We took a ride to Mount Equinox in Vermont this week.  What a beautiful view and day although up on the mountain it was a little chilly.  Had to put on sweater.
I think driving up the mountain is much easier than driving down!  Enjoy.
