Pennant

Had some fun yesterday at a friend's house.  We made these pennants!  Totally cool!  I didn't have my camera because the batteries were dead so don't have pic of my friend Roberta's pennant but it is fantastic!  Next time I go to her house I'll have camera and take a pic.
We started out the same that is Roberta cut out the pennants from cream cardstock.  We took the largest one and did a Tim Holtz technique with Ranger pearl white paint dabber.  Basically you ink stamp with pearl paint dabber (or white acrylic paint) and print onto the edge of large pennant, allow it to dry.  For mine I used blending tool with Distress ink pads in mustard seeds, faded jeans and dusty concord.  For my second pennant I again (i do like blending tool with distress inks) used blending tool with same Distress inks.  Stamped saying image live out loud from  Stampers Anonymous with black ink and script with concord ink.  For rectangle layer did same background coloring and stamped different images (companies unknown) with black ink and faded jeans.  Stamped Mona with jester hat on another piece of cardstock with same coloring in background.  Glued bell and gems on hat.  Punched out wings from a McGill (I think) paper punch and mounted with foam dots.  Taped two pennants and rectangle layers together, mounted Mona with foam dots......oooooops first before any taping or mounting get out trusty ole Krylon gold leafing pen and edge all layers.  Add some highlights with white gel pen, spritz with Ranger perfect pearls mist for shine which you can see IRL but not so much in scan.  Punch a couple of holes in top of pennant, knot some ribbons for a hanger and you are done!  ***I think because of spraying the pp mist mine started to curl so I cut out a piece of cardboard and glued it to my pennant and viola!!! it is as good as new!
Give this pennant idea a try with your own little touches and come back and leave me a comment so I can visit you.

Ordinary masking tape

I learned this masking tape technique years ago when I was working at a stamp store but for the life of me can't remember who did it.  It probably has a name but I don't know so I will just tell you what I did with masking tape.  First went into my scrap pile and pulled out pieces of cardstock, it doesn't matter what color because it will be covered with masking tape.  Rip pieces of masking tape and layer it all over the cardstock....cover the whole piece of cardstock.  Next add color to masking tape with any of your stamping ink pads.  I pulled out some colorbox pigment and chalk ink pads then just did DTP (direct to paper) technique.  When I had all the color I wanted I sprinkled clear embossing powder on it then heat embossed it.  Didn't really like it so then I went into my draw of embossing powders and got out some colored embossing powders.  On my actual card I used Ranger peeled paint embossing powder which gave a rustic feel to it.  On samples pieces I used Hologram embossing powder which added sparkle...you would think it was glitter but it's not.  Back to my card....had trouble getting Rogue Redhead Designs fashion ladies to stick to card so I got out my trusty Spellbinders Nestabilities and cut out an oval then had no trouble mounting ladies that I had touched up with Prisma color pencils.  Cut out a banner, stamped saying from same set of Rogue Redhead Designs with VersaFine sienna ink.

Shake it up

Check it out....a mini shaker on a regular sized note card.  Shakers are a lot easier to make now that Stampin' Up have created circle foam tape which I used here on this card that I made for a friend.  Also wanted to say I "cased" this card from a friend's card.

Ladies of fashion

I've said it before and I'll say it again "how did I ever get along without die cuts to make perfect ovals and circles!"  This card is no different using Spellbinders Nestabilities ovals and scallop ovals.  Check out the background on this card I did a technique that a friend loves to do......stamp on pattern paper for more dimension.  See those ladies of fashion .... they are from Rogue Redhead Designs as well as all the stamps in the background.  Of course I got out my Prisma color pencils to add color to those lovely ladies, added some ribbon and self sticking crystals to finish off this card.

Open face card

Here is what I call an Open face card because the card itself is on a couple of layers that are flat. You know what an open face sandwich is well, this is my take on that same idea.  Now I've been making these open face cards for years but did happen across another one here but she calls hers panel cards.  I did copy her design because it was so clean and simple and I thought it would be a nice thank you card for a friend. Wish I took a photo from the side so you could see it better....next time. I'm posting it now because I know she got it in the mail already.  BTW don't you just love that pleated ribbon! it's from Stampin' Up as are the images I used on this card.  enjoy!

technique tags

Over on Tim Holtz blog he's doing 12 tag of 2012 instead of christmas from now on so that means doing one tag a month instead of one a day! Yeah!  This makes it easier to participate.
The fun part of this tag/card is using the honeycomb paper from Inky Antics Rubber Stamps which I really like playing with since this product came on the market.  What was done here was die cut a Sizzix heart from honeycomb paper.  You only use half at a time so you get two honeycomb hearts from one.  Glued heart to grunge paper heart with Tim Holtz tissue paper behind it.  On the tag stamp Stamper's Anon. diamond image with Ranger pearl paint dabber, let dry then with blending tool add three red Ranger distress inks.  buff card to remove any inks from painted diamonds.  cut out x o x from Tim Holtz idea-ology seasonal paper stash and glue to card.  die cut Sizzix alterations brackets/parentheses on the edge out of red glitter paper (found at craft store) and glue to bottom of tag card.  Doing the resist stamping with paint dabbers is one of my favorite go to techniques since I saw it on  Tim Holtz blog .

Here is a triple easel card I stamped and sent to my niece.  It is just so cute.....all the images are from Starvingartiststamps . This is really not a hard card to create as long as you make the dimensions divisible by three after that it is just a matter of layering and stamping.

Happy Valentines Day!

Today is Valentines Day!  today will be spent quietly at home with my best friend, my husband but I wanted to tell you about yesterday.
Let me set the scene: it's February 13, 2012 an ordinary day except for these ladies who drove to the house on the hill in upstate New York for a quiet luncheon.  The table was set with fine china, grandma's silverware by our hostess, Petti.  The day started with everyone greeting each other and filling the red swap bags with cards and goodies and oh what treats were in those bags.  Next it's sitting around the living room with a little show and tell from our hostess petti and another called brenda.  As the day goes on we have a delicious lunch of chicken crepes with chocolate mouse and yummy cookies that our hostess stamped and gave a cookie stamping demo.  As the day goes on with all the exciting tales and cameras snapping away we have to say goodbye to a lovely time gone by.

Valentine scrapbook

By the time you read this post I should be on my way to friend's house for a fun Valentine luncheon.  I wanted to show the little 4 x 6 scrapbook I made for our hostess but since I know she checks out my blog I had to wait till the day to post pics.  I'm not a scrapper so I just thought of this as a mini book that she could add photos and journal about our day.  I stamped pages and also made pockets out of pattern paper, envelope and different Sizzix dies.  The peppermint candy image is by Hot Potatoes Fabric and Wall Stamps as well as the hearts.  I surprised myself and had fun making this mini scrapbook.  I kept it simple so my friend could add her own stamping touches to it if she wanted.  Oh yes, forgot to mention I binded it with my Bind-It-All machine.....which I had to get out of moth balls. LOL!

Back in the world of Postcard Buddies here is the letter "U" for your enjoyment.
First I'd like to mention that one of our players had to drop out because of family problems.  Grace is a fun stamper and her postcards will be missed.  Utensils by sue (me) - the main images are by Hot Potatoes Fabric and Wall Stamps .  Urn by muriel - simply but effective.  USA  by petti - classic.  Utter by leslie - clever and on address side is Udder.  too funny.  Unicorn by roberta - keeping with her animal theme.  she stamped on a glitter paper to add to the mythical unicorn.

Take it Easel!

Yes, another type of easel card...this one is called a Triple Easel card.  Two side easels and one center easel...have to love all the types of easels starting with single easel card and a double easel card.  This triple is done on cream cardstock which for me is a switch because I do love my stark white cardstock but that I would change it up a bit colorwise and all the images are from Faerie Song Art Stamps ~ Fantasy Themed Images .  The basic card is a little on the big size so I sized it down to fit in envelopes I have in my stash also used my favorite tools ..... Spellbinders Nestabilities ... they do make life easier and I'm all for simplifying.
