Twisted birthdays

Did I get your attention with that title? lol!  o.k. called twisted because these are twisted easel cards...aren't they just terrific!  one little extra fold and an ordinary easel card becomes twisted!  sent one of the blue and brown cards to my brother with a note to stand it up by itself.  Used a new die I got at craft store called frame back, ornate from Sizzix which is similar to SU top note die.  Most of the images on these two cards are from Stampin' Up.  enjoy!

Happy Birthday

I made a few birthday cards, addressed them and they are ready to go out in tomorrow's mail.  Had fun doing a technique I learned from a friend a few years ago when we did a card swap together.  It was one of those things where you make a card with all the supplies for everyone to do.  For the life of me I can't remember what it is called.  Having a senior moment.....please help me.....what is it called?  o.k. forgot to tell you the technique.....embedding image in cardstock with cuttlebug embossing folder.

Splash of color

Splash of color is the theme on The Play Date Cafe .  Being me my splash of color is green.  If you look closely at these two cards you will see slight differences.
See photo inspiration on left.  Images are from Stampin' Up.

Vintage

This week theme at The Stampsmith Challenge is vintage.  I got out Graphic 45 Curtain Call papers along with The Stampsmith image, May Arts black silk ribbon, Ranger Distress Stains, and Tim Holtz film strip....alot of name droping here, huh.  Does anyone remember Clara Bow?  or Scaramouche?  I seen the movie Scaramouche on TCM but not Clara Bow.  Get the reference to changing face?

Flower on her head

Like that title? LOL!  the theme over on Stampotique Designers Challenge it's flowers sooooo that's the reason for flower on her head.  Had fun with this one first I used two  Stampotique Originals images .... yes, one of my goth Gooseneck gal and head with hearts but I changed the hearts to a flower.  Colored her in with Prisma color pencils.  Made three cardstock color blocks.....layered onto black cardstock then ran it through  Sizzix Big Kick with Tim Holtz swirl texture fade embossing folder, layered everything onto purple card.

Warhol style

Warhol style birthday card - took Outlines Rubber stamps little birthday cake stamped it three times with three shades of green.  added some glitter, white prisma color pencil, colorized ribbon and self adhesive gems.  This card fits into two challenges this week - Outlines Rubber Stamp blog -  sweet tooth (birthday cake) and for Gingersnap Creations: GC108: Color Challenge - The Color of Money - in USA color of money is green.

Caterpillar

I am having so much fun with these Inky Antics Rubber Stamps HoneyPOP cards! this one is all about the caterpillar. lol!  the close up is to show I added Diamond Glaze to his eyeglasses.  hope you can see it...it really makes it look like eyeglass lens. The caterpillar is colored with Prisma color pencils - my favorite coloring medium.
I'm entering this fun card in Inky Antics: HoneyPOP Summer Challenge .  It's called summer challenge but it can be any theme as long as you use honeypop stamp set with the honeycomb paper.  Click on link to vote.  thanks

Just a card

Like the title says....just a card...it's been a few days since I posted so thought I would just pop in and add a card for fun.  Actually this card started out for a challenge but then didn't think it fit the theme enough.  All the images are from Outlines Rubber stamps .  If you look closely you can see images stamped on Memorybox Stamps and Scrapbooking decorative papers with Ranger Distress inks for a subtle effect.  If you like it or just have any thoughts on this card leave me a comment.  appreciate all comments.

Outlines - Polka Dots

This week at Outlines blog the theme is polka dots so I got out my Outlines Rubber Stamps dot stamps.  Here's what I found in my drawers dots background, dots with scallops border and balloons in a square.....stamped them all in blue because I'm still in blue mode from blueberry picking.  Added the saying by Abe Lincoln because I feel it fits for a birthday card.

If friends were flowers.....

....I'd pick you!   Having some fun with Inky Antics Rubber Stamps Pretty Posey Honey Pop stamp set.  On this card I colored pretty posey with Prisma color pencils and added some Tim Holtz tissue paper along the spine of the card.  Inside did straight forward flower from the stamp set but I stamped the flower a little out of sinc with the honeypop soooooooo (I like to say, "there are no mistakes in stamping just happy accidents!") I improvised by drawing an extra petal on the flower with my fine point sharpie pen.  Think it worked....don't you?

Card #2 with striped decorative paper background again colored in with Prima color pencils, my favorite coloring medium.  Inside I wanted to try something different with the honeycomb paper so I die cut it with Tim Holtz Sizzix tattered flowers die.  Worked great but forgot to only cut it out halfway so instead of it looking like a flower it looks like an umbrella.  lol!  But fun way to use honeycomb paper.  Did another card only placing the honeycomb paper over half of the metal die cut and it worked great.

No stamping just Blueberries

Sorry no stamping because we went blueberrie picking at Jones Farms not too far from us maybe about a half hour away.  It was actually only like the second day of picking of the season so it was slim pickins but we did get enough for me to make yummy blueberry muffins...a fool proof recipe I got from a friend.  I say fool proof because I am NOT a baker at all but these muffins come out good everytime.  Makes 18 muffins so I froze half of them for a later date to eat.  Next made blueberries and bisquits...first time for this recipe and it came out great.  Best thing about this recipe is you do it all on top of the stove no oven to heat up the house.  At Jones Farm to get to the blueberry field you have to take the "Berry Ferry"!  Now keep in mind this was the first time we went blueberry picking at this farm and when the young attendant said walk over there to take the Berry Ferry I thought to myself.....Berry Fairy????  get it?  Ferry....Fairy!  It was so funny when I realized it was Ferry and not Fairy!  just the way this ole brain works.  It was a fun afternoon.

SU cards displayed at Lucheon

First I want to say,"I have posted over 500 times!" "Can't believe it!"  Started this blog back in November 2008 when I joined a design team that required you have a blog.  I agreed but didn't think I would keep it up but believe it or not I do like blogging.  Where does the time go?
O.K. now on to the cards.  All these cards are using Stampin' Up stamps by various rubber stampers.  They were displayed all over my friend's house when we went to her annual SU catalog lucheon.  Look to your right and you will see a fun turkey step card.  The turkey is created with scallop punches for the tail, circles for body and head.  Very creative.  Over on the left using a set that I own Fifth Ave. Floral which I'm always looking for ideas and here are a few.
Next a great 3D ornament card.  I have some of those ornaments stamped out from last year so I just might have to try this idea out.  Last card is a colorful punched out owl and yes, I have that punch but have I used it?  well, a couple of times...need to pull it out and really play with it!  That's it for now.

More fun with friends

Well, I always show pictures that I take so I'm not in them which is fine with me because I can't seem to take a picture without blinking....flash or not.  Anyway our hostess Petti emailed pictures to me so thought I would let you see me.....I guess it's only fair that I show myself even though I avoid getting my picture taken when ever possible.  I'm the one with eyeglasses and green shirt.  Actually the picture with all of us (except Petti she's taking pic) including me isn't that bad.
It was a fun day!  good friends, good food and good stamping!  Petti always puts up a showcase of cards so tomorrow I'll post a few picture of SU cards done by various artists.

Fun with friends

Here we are all together again for Petti's SU catalog party.  Fun table set up like a picnic with fun foods like sloppy joes, cole slaw, chips and delicious iced tea.
Petti and Susan laughing and creating great roof flashing flower projects.  Need to go to Home Depot now and get a roll of roof flashing!  We also made this cute little LED Flameless tealight candle birthday cakes.  They are so cute!

I gave everyone a little gift.  Simple but effective...ordinary file folders covered with Tim Holtz Paper Stash papers.  Covered post-it notes with same papers and last but not least Notables stamped with (The Stampsmith Art Rubber Stamps) Frank Sinatra who is one of my friend's absolutely favorite entertainers. Check out my tutorial on Notables http://stampingsueinconnecticut.blogspot.com/2009/01/notable.html .  Please remember my tutorials are for your enjoyment only.
If the get together wasn't enough our friend and party hostess made us each these little purses and boxes full of surprises.  Thank you Petti, our party hostess and friend.

Inky Antics HoneyPops!

Have you tried Inky Antics HoneyPops, yet?  They are so much fun once you get the hang of them.  For my card I also used Tim Holtz Sizzix tattered flowers alterations die for the inside "pop"!  The trick is to only cut out half of the flower die.  Remember when you were a kid and cut out paper flowers by folding the paper in half and cutting out a half circle ...... when unfolded it formed a heart!  Same idea when doing the die with Honeycomb paper.  Used Prisma watercolor pencils to coloring in the cute little girl (just a fan not affiliated) from Inky Antics Rubber Stamps Pretty Posey HoneyPop set.
This is my entry for  http://inkyanticsrubberstamps.blogspot.com/2011/06/honeypop-summer-challenge.html .  if you like my card you can click on link and vote for me. thanks

Outlines - red hot!

This week on Outlines blog the theme is Red hot.....or use mostly red in your card.  I just got this fairy on mushrooms from Outlines Rubber Stamp Company, Inc. - Rubber Stamps and couldn't wait to use it so out came my red cardstock.  I made a twisted easel card which is all the rage right now and you know, it's a fun card.  If you look at the corners of my card you will also see another new purchase ..... bubbles/circles corner punch.....isn't it just too much fun! I even embossed, yes I embossed .... don't do that very often anymore but thought the white embossing would be nice on the red cardstock.  I like it....do you?

Still beaching

Yes, still bleaching and coloring ribbons! Bleached Outlines Rubber Stamp Company, Inc. - Rubber Stamps flower square on olive green cardstock, which bleached out looking like yellow/orange.  I love the way you never know what color you are going to end up with when you bleach it.  The roses are a May Arts ribbons - yes a whole row of roses on a ribbon.  I colorized it with Ranger Ink Distress Stain antique linen.  So get bleach out of the laundry room and into your craft room!

Last of AI's

Like the title reads .... last of Ranger Ink AI's (alcohol inks) cards I made to date.  I took left over pieces and cut them in strips (see card on left) and weaved them together to make a fun background. Stamped on top of weaved piece with Tim Holtz Seamless Experience cling stamp set and added a ribbon paper bird see here: http://stampingsueinconnecticut.blogspot.com/2011/03/thursday-tutorial-ribbon-paper.html .  The bird is a Tim Holtz Sizzix alternations die.  The card on the right is basic polish stone technique with blending solution spots.  Stamps are from same cling stamp set and lace ribbon is by May Arts ribbons .

Polish Stone technique blast from the past

Blast from the past - Polish Stone technique.  Think the first time I learned this technique was from Suze Weinberg's book The Art of Rubber Stamping (published 2000-still a good resource book).  This was before Ranger developed their Adirondack Alcohol inks...back then we used Studio 2 ink it's and Pantone Tria and homemade applicator by that I mean a piece of scrap wood from my dad's workshop with a piece of velcro loop tape.  Now it is all so much better with Ranger Adirondack AI's (love those colors) and their applicator with the handle.  My card uses a variety of AI's including a couple of the mixatives, Tim Holtz Seamless Experience cling stamp set and some beautiful May Arts wide black silk ribbon.
