Play Date Cafe challenge - PDCC83

This is the first time I've joined the challenge on The Play Date Cafe so hope I do everything right.
Well, here I go................... my entry is shaped card with Nestibilities dies.  The image is from Faerie Song Art Stamps ~ Fantasy Themed Images and the lace ribbon is from May Arts ribbons.  I stamped goddess holding the world then die cut with Nestibilities die and layered.  Stamped goddess a second time and punched out the world with a circle paper punch then colored in with Prisma color pencils.  Punch out a circle a little larger in green then layered the world on it and mounted it over stamped image.

cards 3 and 4

Here are two more cards I made in class with Jennifer McGuire, remember these are her designs.
For both of these cards we used Faber Castell markers to color directly on stamp then print onto pattern paper then onto white cardstock.  We were supposed to do second generation stamping on white cardstock but it was just to light for me so I overstamped it using the Fiskar stamp press.  Another thing I did a little different is with the scallop edge card we were supposed to cut both the front and back of card to make it thinner......well......I just cut off some of the cardstock from the front of the card and left the back the size it was because I liked it better that way.
All images are from Hero Arts

another view of cut out card

Took these pictures of heart cut out cards with my camera so you can see the hearts.  See how the small heart is glued to the backside of the vellum and the big heart is taped to the inside of the card.  Can't see things like that in scans.

cards by me and jennifer

Here are two of the cards I made in Jennifer McGuire class I took at buffalo stamps & stuff store a couple of weeks ago.  I'll post a couple cards at a time over the next couple of weeks.
What do these two cards have in common?  have you guessed?  the vellum banners across the card cut outs.  Because of the flower card I went out and bought a gidget gadget called the Compact Stamp0 Press by Fiskars.  It is just a fun tool to use with clear stamps to overstamp......so much easier than a stamp positioner.  Other reason I got it is you can use clear and cling mount stamps on it with ease.  It has these sponge type feet so you just push/press down and you get a perfect impression and of course it is clear so you can see thru it for perfect positioning.  O.K. back to the cards....the flower stamp was first stamped then used the stamp press to over stamp with background stamp in a light ink....too cool.
Now onto the second card which using an embossing folder that is inked then run through Big Kick (or any machine you have) with cardstock and you get this great colored background with raised impression.  Stamp the two hearts, cut out...lightly glue small heart to vellum banner and large heart to the inside of card.   Just a reminder all the images are from Hero Arts because Jennifer is one of their designers.

Gingersnap scene stamping challenge

Over on Gingersnap Creations they are having a scene stamping challenge.  What fun!  haven't done this in years.  I got out my Stampscapes stamps and stamped a scene with a horse....why a horse?  I'll tell you why ..... besides this challenge they are also doing cowboys and cowgirls so that's why the horse.  On this card I used some wide black silk May Arts ribbons to make that wonderful bow, just love their silk ribbons they make beautiful bows.  Added some color with Ranger Ink distress inks broken china, peeled paint and wild honey.  Oh yes, almost forgot used Nestibilities labels to frame the stamped scene.

Gingersnap - Cowboys and Cowgirls

The theme over on Gingersnap Creations is cowboys and cowgirls.  I started and couldn't stop so here are two cards I created for the theme.  The first one started out as a tag then added it on a card.  I covered the tag with VersaMark ink then brushed on Ranger Ink Perfect Pearls after that I stamped an image with VersaMark ink.  Hard to see in scan but the VersaMark ink took off Perfect Pearls to look like a faux bleach effect.  Highlighted the word Geniune with Prisma white pencil just makes it pop.  Second card is made by using up the left over Perfect Pearls on craft sheet.  Spritzed water onto the craft sheet with Perfect Pearls then pressed cardstock into it to drink up the wet Perfect Pearls.  Both these cards shine and sparkle.  The ribbon is by May Arts blog, a wide silk ribbon but in the scan it looks like it is striped but it isn't just very shiney so the scan took it for stripes.

HM anniversary

Create a couple of anniversary cards using the same House Mouse image but different colors which changes the mood of the card. Another way to change the mood/style of card is the ribbon --- on the orange card I used some wide ribbon from Stampin' Up and on the aqua card used two sizes of  May Arts ribbons white silk ribbon.  One of these cards will go to a friend for her anniversary in the beginning of June.  The inside of the more orange one is boring but I do like the inside of the brighter aqua card so will show that one.  Used a new die I picked up at craft store from Sizzix that is similar to Stampin' Up Top Note die.  Mine is more square and smaller than SU but that's o.k. with me.

More at Jennifer McGuire class

Had a lot of fun learning new and improved techniques at this class.  I was #50 at class....see the paddle....just like at an auction, not that I've ever been to an auction just what I see on T.V........fun thing with paddle was if you wanted a stamp or product that Jennifer was using in class all you had to do was hold up paddle and owner of store would get it and put it in a basket for you.
Here are two sisters from Rochester, NY that I sat next to in class.  They were a lot of fun.
Will be posting cards I made in class soon.

Stampsmith star challenge

The Stampsmith Challenge this week is make someone a Star.  I decided to go with  The Stampsmith image of multiple faces and single out a few of the faces to make them the star.  Lots of layers of cardstock and May Arts ribbon as an accent.

Recycle

Stampotique Designers Challenge this week is to recycle so I recycled a piece of plastic from packaging.  First I added some color to it with 'The Ranger Ink Alcohol inks then ran it through Sizzix Big Kick with Tim Holtz texture fade embossing folder. Stamped one of Stampotique gothic gals mounted it over the embossing folder and May Arts ribbon.  Wanted to say this is not my original idea if I'm not mistaken it was on one of Tim Holtz christmas tags from last year.  Here's a link http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/12/12-tags-of-christmasday-10.html  Just thought you would appreciate the instructions.

From me to Jennifer

Yes, I'm a goody two shoes and gave the teacher (Jennifer McGuire) an apple or in this case a stamped fabric bag with two stamped frames. It is easy to stamp on these bags just put a lightweight piece of cardboard inside then stamp with fabric ink pads or paints. For the frames stamp the same way. All images used are from Hero Arts.

Fun at class

I took a class with Jennifer McGuire of Hero Arts at Welcome - Buffalo Stamps and Stuff last weekend while visiting my father. Had a lot of fun in class and learned some great tips/twists on old techniques. See me with Jennifer! We did so many techniques in class that we didn't have time to put all the cards together....class even went over an hour. That was o.k. cause it gave me something to do in hotel at night......put together 9 cards...yes, 9 count them...well you will be able to count them in future posts. Jennifer even gave us a 10th card (we didn't have time to do in class) to take home to do because we ran out of time.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! to my friend (you know who you are). Cased this card right from Hero Arts. Used all thier stamps except for dots they are by Outlines Rubber Stamp Company. Sorry Hero didn't have your dots but other than that it is totally cased. It's called a hidden message card because there is a hidden message pull tab in the icing of the cupcake. The card itself is fun but the cutting and making it fit was a bit touch and go for a bit but did get it to work after a couple of tries....now I think I have it! And just for my friend ---------- I stamped something on the envelope! simple stamping but it is stamped so it counts. I have a couple of stamping buds who always get on me for not stamping something on envelope so I'm trying after how many years....to do it. So HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!

Friday the 13! Oooooooo!

It's Friday the 13th watch out for black cats crossing your path.....walking under ladders......stepping on cracks in sidewalks.....and so on. Didn't have card with cat so I'm adding my own little watch out for.......witches flying overhead! Hey! look there is a cat on the broom not black but grey is close enough for me. Background is the herribone technique, you can find it Herringbone Technique Video - DOstamping with Dawn, it's a fun technique and easier than you would think. The witch is by Faerie Song Art Stamps ~ Fantasy Themed Images which I am affiliated only because I'm on her design team and have been for a few years. Heather (owner) is a lovely lady to work with and her designs are the best at least I think so. I used my Prisma color pencils to color in this image.

Celebrate Mom - Stampsmith challenge

Getting in just under the wire on this challenge over on The Stampsmith Challenge where the theme is Celebrate mom. I'm celebrating one of T.V. land's funniest moms........I love Lucy! She used to get into such wacky situations....just loved that show when I was a kid. Isn't this a great image! No, I'm not affiliated with The Stampsmith just like thier images. I punched out "Lucy" and put in mom to fit the challenge theme. She is stamped in 'The Ranger Ink Archival coffee ink, one of my old favorite color inks that I have been neglecting lately. Cut out the card and layers with Nestabilities Labels Eight ..... a set I just picked up at craft store with a 50% off coupon.....don't you just love those coupons.

Feeling better and a Tag

Been MIA lately because I was down with a 24/36 hour virus. I'm back and plan on doing some stamping today so I can schedule a few posts while I'm away visiting my father in Buffalo this weekend. But for now here's a fun collage tag I made for a friend's birthday.

You can see by the close up I used some of Tim Holtz mini film strip. Also made foam stamps out of two of TH Sizzix alteration dies and stamped them with Ranger Ink Distress inks, of course. The Paris Eiffel tower is by Hot Potatoes Fabric and Wall Stamps which I bought two so I could give one as a gift to my friend. I almost forgot see the Tim Holtz music tissue tape there on the bottom. Add some May Arts ribbon to finish off the tag.

Just a fun tag and I know she will like it for two reasons........first it's a tag (she adores tags any size) and it is collaged.

AI Challenge - animals

Over on Art Impressions Stamps-challenge blog

the theme is animals. Here is my dancing pig entry for the animal theme. Isn't she the greatest! Her tutu has extra ruffles because it actually moves/tilts side to side when you move the card. I colored her with prisma color pencils as you all know .... my favorite coloring medium.

*****last week drawing for blog candy will be posted tomorrow*****

Back to Spring!

File:Colorful spring garden.jpgI'm back and Spring has sprung. Was visiting my brother in Virginia where everything is in full bloom and it is beautiful.....not to mention the temp was up to 80 degrees. Now I'm back to good old Connecticut where the trees are still have bare but the flowers are starting to bloom. We did come home to a colorful aray of tulips in our yard.

I need to catch up on everything then I will do a drawing of the blog comment names when I was gone......tommorow May 2, I will announce the winner.
