Saturday morning
I have just discovered challenges. I added a few of the ones I discovered on my sidebar. I plan to join in the challenges as often as I can or when the theme inspires me. From what I understand by checking out the blogs is that challenges are something you create whether it be a card or altering a paper mache box. After you create your project you leave a comment on the pertaining blog with a link to your blog with a picture of your challenge. Also letting everyone where the challenge started. I did my first challenge for Rainbow Lady (see sidebar for link) on Thursday. I posted a picture of a funky ole lady pop up card here on my blog. The theme was people. It has been fun checking out the comments and visiting other blogs with what they did.
On another note I'm preparing for my Rubber stamping course I am teaching at my local Adult Education at our high school. This is a four week course all about stamping, new & old techniques. This Wednesday is our first night and we will be making cards showing direct to stamp coloring with brush markers, a little masking and embossing. When I finish the samples I will post pictures here. All level of stampers are welcome to come to class. We always have fun!

Background fun!

Let's talk about backgrounds. Last year I started this notebook thinking I would just keep adding to it whenever I wanted to remember a background I had done. Showing here is the cover of my notebook and a page showing the instructions for playing with fun foam along with samples. Fun Foam is just a fun product found in the kids section of the craft store. Here I cut shapes out of the fun foam then painted it with Gesso. After the gesso dried I painted acrylic paints on it. Allow it all to dry. After dry I collage stamped images all over it with Brilliance Black ink pad but you could use any good permenant ink pad. That's all there is to it. Monday, February 9, 2009
Card sketches

Card Sketches are something that I avoided for a long time but I have grown to like them. Here are a couple of sketches I created for a class I taught a couple of years ago. It was really fun to see how students really liked the idea of having
a "blue print" for them to follow. Although I prepared sketches they took my sketches, and did thier own thing. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of what they did in clas
s. I have to remember to take pictures when I teach a class so I can share what they do with my ideas.Saturday, February 7, 2009
Fuzzy Colors with a twist

I enjoy using my stipples brushes so I have them handy at all times. Stipple brushes come in all sizes and shapes from kids' versions to artist grade. I have them all! I can say it enough, "Stipple brushes are a stamper's best friend!" They are good for techniques like Fuzzy colors, adding a touch of color and best of all hiding smudges.
Now what I did different here from my normal Fuzzy Colors technique. I call this
FUZZY COLORS with a Twist!
All images by Lasting Impressions with Panache
Inks:
Ranger Adirondack Cranberry, Butterscotch & Lettuce
Staz-On Black
1. Stamp Eiffel Tower with Staz-On Black ink pad.
2. Create a mask by stamping tower on Post-It Note.
3. Place mask over stamped image.
4. Using a medium stipple brush add fuzzy color around the masked image with Adirondack Butterscotch ink to start. Add Adirondack Lettuce in other areas and last Adirondack Cranberry.
5. Leave some areas without color just for a little more depth in your project.
6. Remove Post-It note mask to reveal the Fuzzy Color effect.
7. Stamp Passport image on top of bookmark with Staz-On Black ink.
8. Cut out black cardstock approximately 1/2" bigger than stamped piece.
9. Punch out two corners with Paper Shaper corner punch.
10. Adhere all layers with double stick tape.
11. Punch out SU tab and adhere to top of bookmark.

CREATE IT

Stamp Create background and flower border images on glossy card stock with Staz-On Black ink pad and let it dry completely. After dry highlight areas with a white waxy crayon. Remember when you were a child and used to write names on Easter eggs with crayons then soak them in dye......and viola! The name would show up in white on the egg. This is the same idea.
Did Fuzzy Colors technique using Adirondack Citrus, Denim & Red Pepper for a colorful background. Fuzzy Colors is a technique using stipple brushes that I made up a several years ago. I wrote an article for Scrap & Stamp Arts, June 2007 on pages 48 & 49.
***To create Fuzzy Colors background:
Stipple colors onto a full sheet of 8 ½ x 11 cardstock, this way you can cut it up when done to make up to four cards.
Any ink will work, whether it be dye, chalk or pigment. This technique can be done on any light color cardstock.
1. Pounce your colors first with small to medium size stipple brushes to achieve the fuzzy looking color; then apply the last color using a large stipple brush and a swirling motion.
2. Using a large stipple brush and a swirling motion with a color like mustard gives a nice glow or vintage effect.***
Buff card with paper towel to reveal the magic.
Punch two 1/8” holes above flower border. Thread ribbon through holes and wrap around card. Secure to back of card with tape.
Using double stick tape attach stamped card to black (4x5 1/4”)card then to salmon note card.
