Green Giraffe with fun background

I've had a lot of questions on how I did this card so thought I would put instructions here for everyone to see.

GREEN GIRAFFE
May 2009 project #4
by Sue Wisniewski
stamps:
Jungle ATC EZMount Stamp set – Sunday International
supplies:
3M double stick tape
Aluminum Foil sticky back tape – (Home Depot)
Gold metallic thread
Cuttlebug Mosaic embossing folder
Ranger alcohol ink applicator with felt
inks:
Adirondack Meadow ink pad
Ranger Alcohol inks – stream, butterscotch & eggplant
Ranger Alcohol Blending solution
instructions:
1. Tape Aluminum Foil sticky back tape to a piece of 4 x 5 1/4” cardstock. Any color will work because you will not see cardstock.
2. Color the Aluminum Foil tape with Ranger alcohol inks using the applicator with a piece of felt attached to it. Squirt a couple of drops of each color of alcohol inks onto the applicator. Tap applicator all over the Aluminum Foil tape. When you have desired amount of ink on tape blend the colors with a little bit of blending solution on the same applicator. This is called Polish Stone technique.
3. Place colored silver card in Cuttlebug mosaic embossing folder and run it through machine to form the dry embossed mosaic look.
4. Tape alcohol colored piece to white note card with double stick tape.
5. Stamp Giraffe with Adirondack Meadow ink onto white 2 x 3 1/2” cardstock.
6. Layer Giraffe onto dark green cardstock approximately 1/8” larger.
7. Wrap a piece of gold metallic thread around Giraffe and tie into a knot.
8. Layer Giraffe piece onto bright green cardstock approximately 1/8” larger with double stick tape.
9. Tape the finished Giraffe piece to base card with colored embossed piece with double stick tape.

New Stamps from Sunday International

Sunday International is working hard to present a series of special sets called The Best of Dee Gruenig. Twelve sets will be introduced as the first collection with six pairs of small sets that work well together. They will feature the following three special changes.
Change #1 - Offered on sheets of rubber to save you money, you can mount them on cushions for use with acrylic see-through mounts. They are also available as ready to use stamps mounted on the fabulous EZ Mount cushion. You can now get them both ways.
Change #2- All images are reduced in size to be used for ATCs, inchies and other smaller projects. They also provide size variation for use with Dee’s usual larger images.
Change #3 - Where appropriate, images normally facing in one direction have been reversed for additional variation and combining when stamping.
Expect them in May and please tell your friends about including mentioning in your chats, forums and clubs.

Glitter Lace

Another page out of my Background sketchbook.

This time it's Glitter Lace. A fun way to have a very sparkly background.
Create a piece of sticker paper with Xyron machine or large sheet of Red liner double stick sheet.
Lay a piece of lace onto sticker paper. Sprinkle glitter onto it. Carefully remove the lace then add another color of glitter. Viola! you are done. It's that simple.

More on Stamp N Bond

I have discovered that for me if I just stamp an image then use sticky embossing powder and glitter it works better.
Here I stamped tropical flower with Encore multi color ink pad then Stamp N Bond, heat. Add prisma glitter. Worked just fine. Stamped leaf & Mahalo with same ink but no glitter.
All images from Sunday International.

Stamp and Bond

This is my first attempt at using Stamp and Bond. Not crazy with my results so will have to try some more. For this card I inked up my cuttlebug folder with Encore ink then put cardstock through the machine. Sprinkle Stamp and Bond on embossed card, heat till shiny, sprinkle on glitter. That is the whole premise of the product. Can't see the shine of the glitter in the scan but it is there. For me it was a hit or miss type of deal that's why I need to practice more.
Funky flower is by Sunday International.

Fused Fibers

Here's another background. This one is called Fused Fibers. Great way to use up all those little bits & pieces of fibers, yarns & ribbons.
Basically what you do is iron fusible web onto a piece of cardstock. Remove the backing. Place all those little bits of yarn, ribbon & fibers onto the cardstock with the fusible web. Once you have it the way you like iron all the fibers to the cardstock. Repeat the process till it is full. Trim excess fibers then add this embellishment to your project.
